  1. If he'd been booked, his stats would be zero appearances, 1 yellow.
  2. Great news, and quite a turnaround. Some quotes and more details in this article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24668313 However, a word of caution. It took a 4th place league finish AND making it to a cup semi-final AND getting a substantial "solidarity payment" windfall from Celtic's Champions League success AND 3 home derbies in order for us to make a mere £22,000 profit. If we are relying on those 4 things happening every year just to break even then we have to expect financial losses to return. But hopefully not this season, at least.
  3. Also from the Christie era, there were 2 Austrians who were supposed to be arriving in time for our Italian training camp in 2007. Their trial got rescheduled until afterwards because one was injured, but they never materialised. Just for the record they were: Dominique Taboga - defender. Has since appeared in Austria's top 2 divisions. Benedict Bauer - striker. Been playing in Austria's regional leagues ever since.
  4. Young wingers Darren Campbell and Matthew Glass both featured v Clach in 2006. Campbell had been released by Reading, and had played U17 for both England and Scotland. He's been mostly in the Isthmian league with Fleet Town ever since. Glass was last heard of at Hucknall Town in 2012. When he joined, their website announced "Glass arrives with a proven goalscoring record with Alfreton, Grantham Town, Worksop Town, Sheffield FC, Rainworth Miners Welfare and is seen as a prize recruitment."
  5. From HMS Sneck to ONS Sneek!
  6. Michael Barnes - young winger released by Man U, Brewster had him here in 2008. Has since been playing for AFC Fylde in the Northern Premier.
  7. They've both been playing in amateur leagues ever since, roughly the 5th tier of Dutch football.
  8. I see he's now at Boreham Wood, but was with James Vincent at Kidderminster last season.
  9. We should have signed him just so we could sing "For goodness sakes, we've got the Ricky Ricky Shakes....."
  10. I stumbled across the names of 2 Dutch trialists from 2009, Chris de Wagt and Melvin Holwijn, but I don't remember them at all.
  11. At the same time as Reidford we had another keeper, Greg Kelly. In fact they both got some game time in the 5-0 at Brechin. Edit to add : just looked him up, he went on to have a season with Annan but then seems to have disappeared from senior football. I did find though that in the last couple of years a Greg Kelly has been keeper for the Scottish Police football team.
  12. They were youngish Slovakians called Robert Ujcik and Jaroslav Machovec. Ujcik plays in the Slovakian 2nd division (club with ground capacity less than 2,000 which perhaps gives you some idea of the level). Machovec played briefly in the Slovak top flight and is now in the Czech 2nd division, for a club in the town where Budvar is brewed. He is now listed as a defender/midfielder. Doesn't sound like we missed on much.
  13. Well done, two puns in a roe!
  14. Who wrote the script........ Barry Venison?
  15. That's assuming we get past St Kilda in the qualifiers.
  16. Iceland have a chance there, Croatia look nothing special these days. But if they don't make it, how about a North Atlantic Cup next summer - Scotland, Iceland, Faroes and Greenland. I reckon we'd have a decent chance of making the final.
  17. Very disappointing result - worse than the thrashing in Perth.
  18. It's a village in Lancashire, for those who might be a bit concerned by that last post.
  19. I'd like to see Greenalgh play, as I haven't been overly impressed by either Ross or Polworth when I've seen them recently. As an aside, I was in Greenhalgh yesterday. In one side and out the other, in fact.
  20. Do you realise Renegade has printed that out and stuck it to his bedroom wall?
  21. The highest ranked team they beat in qualification are ranked 54th in the world and has a population of just 620,000 (Montenegro). Away from home, the highest ranked team they beat was Moldova who were 141st at the time. Qualified comfortably and looking a good team (as usual, in qualification), but too early start getting carried away. But the media will get carried away anyway!
  22. Billy Mackay got about 20 minutes on the pitch tonight, to add an embarassing 2-0 defeat to Azerbaijan to the recent embarassing defeat to Luxembourg. And yet they recently beat Russia. They make Scotland look consistent.
  23. Great stuff. There were so many replays from different angles I ended up thinking it was 6-0!
  24. Yngwie replied to bauhaus's topic in General Football
At least from his time with us he has some experience of the sort of "banter" that Brighton are subject to. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2303125/Brighton-report-homophobic-abuse-rival-fans-FA--list-alleged-chants-including-Colin-Kazim-Richards.html
