  1. First time ever that we've gone to Celtic Park with me EXPECTING us to get a result. Good times.
  2. Who'd have ever thunk it possible to be a wee bit disappointed that we are 2-1 up at Celtic Park?

What's more concerning (but perhaps unsurprising) is the kind of organised match fixing in the lower leagues that ex-player Gordon Parks talks about here. Just a pity that he won't name names. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23808606 I suppose for part-timers its the only way they'll ever make money out of football.
  4. I wonder which football stadium is furthest away from a pub? Would ICT hold that honour in Scotland?
  5. With all this fruit talk I can't help but be reminded of Jason Lee, who back in the 90's endured constant chants of "He's got a pineapple on his head...." (to the tune of "He's got the whole world in his hands"). Thankfully it's not the only thing he is remembered for. He is also remembered for for his poor finishing ability and being an overpaid dud at most of the 20 (twenty) clubs he played for, including Falkirk in our 03/04 promotion season.
  6. Are there any good chants about scurvy?!

At those odds I'll be placing a bet for us winning!

I do. Clear conflict of interest. That doesn't mean he would be deliberately trying to throw a game, but it might mean he is less bothered about the outcome than he would otherwise have been.

I was just thinking about that. Whilst reports like the BBC one very much suggested that is the case ("It is alleged Black bet against his "then registered club" three times between March 4, 2006 and July 28, 2013") there is nothing in the SFA Notice of Complaint which specifies when any of the 3 types of offence took place, other than they were within the overall date range mentioned. So unless the media have got hold of further details of the alleged breaches, I suppose it is possible that on March 4 2006 he bet on ICT to win, or on a completely unrelated game.

2-2 FT. I'd have gone if I'd known it was on, grrrr.
  11. We'll probably face Dundee, with the most appropriate neutral venue being deemed to be Tannadice.
  12. Later on in that BBC Scotland documentary, the same guy who couldn't recognise a pineapple, even with hefty clues, was shown a turnip and thought it was a cabbage.
  13. Terry Butcher is : the longest serving manager in the Premiership (4 years 200 days at current club) the oldest manager in the Premiership (54) Looking at the whole 42 club SPFL : only Gardner Speirs, Dick Campbell and Ross Jack have been at their clubs longer (5 years 202 days for Speirs is the longest) only Jim Jeffries and Dick Campbell are older I'm not sure what conclusions, if any, can be drawn from this, but I like stats anyway.

Perhaps he was also "unlucky" to find himself arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. When the case collapsed last year because the key witness (nightclub bouncer) failed to turn up in court, Blackie's response to being cleared was, I kid ye not, "I just want to draw a line under this."

True, but it relates to his time as an ICT player.

There have been some reasonably severe sentences dished out in England recently for breaching betting regulations. Andros Townsend (Spurs) - 1 month ban and £18,000 fine Cameron Jerome (Stoke) - £50,000 fine Neither took part in any of the games in question or had bet against their own team. An Accrington director also got a 21 month ban from being involved in football, and £1,000 fine. I'd wager that there are lots of nervous footballers wondering if they'll be next to be rumbled.

Maybe he did place the bets but a Colombian drug gang made him do it.

Never mind previous clubs, his current one won't be too happy if the reports are correct that the last (alleged) incident of betting against his own team was Albion Rovers v Rangers!

Nah, too much of a gamble......

    Where's the fun in that?

When that game took place we were 6 points and 2 league places above Motherwell. And we had home advantage. And we had only lost 1 of our previous 17 matches. And we had just had a cracking 4-2 win at Tannadice the previous week. Why would anyone expect us to lose? Take him to the cells. I sentence him to 3 years in the lower leagues.

Here's the BBC article, which confirms that the first alleged instance of betting against his own team was whilst at ICT. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23761230
  23. I know what you are saying, but from memory(!) I think the team that scores the first goal in a game has about a 60% chance of winning, whereas scoring the first 2 goals makes that a 90% chance.
  24. Can't say I've ever heard that one before! When Billy finished off that neat move on Saturday, were the fans cursing him for putting us in such a precarious position? Did Terry kick the dugout? I put it to you that any lead is a good thing and that a single goal lead is the least good one you can ever have. And who are "they" anyway? It sounds like the sort of inane tosh Billy Dodds would come out with.
