  1. Mackay-Steven played for Peterhead a few days ago in a draw against Keith, but not with a view to signing for them: Source I think I'm right in saying he's never actually played a first team game in his life, but I think the same applied to Ian Black and he turned out not too bad.
  2. Thought we might field a stronger team than that, but its always good to see the youngsters get a chance.

Have you a source for that? because as far as I have been able to find the rule only stipulates that "each club must include 3 players under the age of 21 in their match day squad" Unless the rule has changed for the coming season: 3 outfield players under 21

Expect to see a lot of subs, and lots of people asking "Who's he?"

I don't think we signed him on reduced wages (ie less than Partick were paying). Far from it, I'm sure. My interpretation of it is that when it appeared that we had to pay a fee to Partick that scuppered the signing, the player was willing to sacrifice some of what he was offered by ICT (possibly his signing on fee) to enable the deal to go through. Fair play to him for that. The lack of fee/compensation payable to Partick is an interesting one, which was discussed earlier in this thread. If no compo is payable to them, why did we make 2 offers to them the week before last? And why did they reject them if they weren't entitled to anything at all? Were both clubs misinterpretating the rules quoted earlier? It might be the case that the 09/10 season officially ended on Sunday after the WC final, meaning that after that date signings of players who turned 23 in 09/10 were no longer elgible for compensation. Anyone know?

Reportedly told he's not wanted there, and having a trial with a South African team.

    (in a good way)

I think he might actually have a few full caps from friendlies.
  9. And both came on as subs. That's all I can find, but there will hopefully be some mention of them here: Hereford forum
  10. Both started on the bench.
  11. It does sound quite good. I can't imagine Terry will be staying up for it though. "I was so thrilled by that goal. It was as if I'd stolen an Englishman's wallet."

    Likewise!

    Jewish Chronicle Oh dear :(
  14. One of the few memorable things about this tournament will be Paul the Octopus. I'm pretty sure the Spaniards would be willing to pay megabucks to have him flown to Madrid and chopped up into one of those huge outdoor paella dishes.
  15. I did too, until about 15 minutes into the game. Germany were the 2nd best team in the tournament so the cynical, ungracious Dutch bad losers should consider themselves very lucky to have runners up medals.
  16. Sadly this has to go down as the worst world cup in living memory (on the pitch, that is. South Africa seems to have been a great host nation). The quality of football wasn't good enough, the entertainment value was unbelievably low, the shooting was abysmal, and there has never ever been so little flair. It's still the ultimate festival of football though, so perhaps "least good " is a better description than "worst". It's kind of like the saying that there is no such thing as a bad blow dry.
  17. So just like last time, Scotland will be up against the world cup holders in the forthcoming Euro qualifiers. At least we haven't got the runners up as well this time.
  18. Sham,e for him. Looks like his days as a full time pro may be over, but if he recovers from that foot injury I'm sure plenty of lower league teams will want him.
  19. Lionel is a bit of a folk hero up here. Half our fans just wanted him to folk off. A very entertaining and unpredictable marauding left wing back, and strong tackler. A joy to watch on a good day when charging up the flank. But a very flawed defender. Error prone and a bit clumsy, with terrible defensive positioning sense. That last point is what holds him back from being an overall pretty good player. In short, Lionel can cause chaos for defences at both ends of the pitch. I liked him though, for sheer entertainment value. Edit - oh, and when he sticks to short, simple passes they are still likely to go out for a throw in.

    See here please.
  21. He played central midfield, but most games you wouldn't have noticed he was there. Didn't do anything wrong as such, he was a reasonably tidy player but with little presence. Our form improved dramatically when he was dropped and replaced by someone with a bit of dig. Hope he does well wherever he ends up.

Naughty boy RIG, you forgot to include either the ;) , the ;) or the
  23. Other than plenty of analysis as to why he was so utterly p1sh! ;) If he'd been up to anything scandalous, the British tabloids would not be able to keep it quiet, and foreign ones most certainly wouldn't.
  24. Yngwie replied to Libero's topic in Caley Thistle
Either that or all his previous clubs quickly realised he was a dud!

I'm hoping that his Special Forces training might bring another dimension too. If an opposition player is ever "rolling about like he's been shot" Gil will be out of the country before anyone has even noticed.
