I noticed that our former left midfielder has signed for Junior side Musselburgh Athletic, and thought it was a bit sad, and quite unusual, that aged 26 he has dropped so far so fast. It actually got worse when I realised that this move was actually a step up for him, having been at Musselburgh Amateur FC last season - less than 2 years after he was playing for us at Ibrox in the SPL. He left us in January 2008 for an unsuccessful spell at Killie, who loaned him out for an unsuccessful spell at St Johnstone, before releasing him. He then had an unsuccessful spell at Stenhousemuir. It's a bit of a shame, because there were signs of talent when he was with us and he had a damn good left foot when it came to set pieces. I think he might have been hampered by injury problems, in addition to his inherent lack of pace and effort. Good luck to him anyway.

There was a long interview with Terry in the Sunday Times. Rather annoyingly much of it is him being asked about Neil Lennon's managerial credentials and challenges, but there is an interesting section regarding the award of his new contract which I don't recall being publicised anywhere else. Unfortunately the ST website is subscription now so i can't post a link, but I'll type some of the relevant bits. As ever, Butcher comes across well, and is positive and optimistic about the coming season.

At this early stage the only benchmark we have to compare ourselves against other teams is this: ICT 0-0 Valladolid Killie 0-0 Valladolid St J 1-0 Valladolid Can't read too much into it at all, but it certainly doesn't provide me with any grounds for optimism of a top 6 place for us.

I read that Dundee have only signed him on a 28 day contract, for the time being. They wanted to play him as a trialist but because of some technicality he had to be given a short contract instead.
