  1. Surely this tragedy merits the front page of the Highland News!
  2. I believe the SPL will decide this week whether to accept a proposal by Setanta to extend their SPL coverage from 38 games a season to over 60. It has been suggested that the extra televised games will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, but this is speculation. Setanta will of course be paying the SPL more money if this goes ahead, and the additional games will prodominantly feature non-OF teams like ours. Good news for the club's bank balance, and for armchair fans. Maybe not so good for fans attending the games. Given the financial state of the game in Scotland, I think it is likely that clubs will vote in favour.

    Golly

I wasn't there but would the other be McBain? The only time he got mentioned on the radio commentary was when he got subbed!
  4. There's always something very satisfying about scoring in injury time to get a win or draw. You always go home with a smile on your face, and it's even better if you didn't really deserve the result. So what's your favourite last gasp ICT goal?
  5. Likewise, I cannot believe that Caff isn't getting a chance if Munro is out.

    Tony Low

A total of 4 ex-ICT players in that squad, I think.
  7. LOL, fair point!
  8. Where are they then, hiding?!
  9. Dundee Utd have sent out their season ticket forms in an envelope which has a picture of a smiling Brewster and the slogan "A fresh brew" Stale p1sh more like. The dismal performances and results under Brewster are exactly what Utd fans suffered under McCall and then Chisholm.
  10. If he's still here next season he'll be a first pick, so this a good chance for Charlie to try out other options like Keogh.
  11. It seems they have been told they are no longer welcome, but have not been sacked (because Dundee don't want to pay the compensation required to terminate their contracts). Constructive dismissal? One for the lawyers to sort out.
  12. Pele will not get the County job. MacGregor told the BBC last night that the new manager will come as a total surprise, young and hungry, aged 35-40, with experience North and South of the border. BBC reckons Scott Leitch. A real shame for Pele. Will he ever get back?
  13. Obviously we'll never know the answer. IMO, it was the signing of Bingham that gave us the edge over the other division 1 teams, and he only signed for us because he was mates with Robbo. I don't think Pele could have attracted any equivalent signing of that calibre, and so we would not have won the league that season. Looking at Div 1 last season or this season, who knows, Pele's team might have been good enough to win it.
  14. 3 keepers in the first team? Will one of them be leaving in the summer?
  15. Just been looking into the Eyemouth thing - they were regulars in the Scottish Cup in that era (as were loads of bizarre wee teams) and did indeed reach the Q/F in 1960 (a bye, then home wins againt Albion and Cowdenbeath before losing to Killie). Another year they went to Parkhead and only lost 3-0 to Jock Stein's team. A couple of years earlier, I noticed that Caley knocked out "Babcock and Wilcox".....hardly surprising if they only fielded 2 players.
  16. Dundee seem to be on the brink on making severe cuts again, which might mean they will accept any reasonable offers. Should we enquire about Robb, again? Or has he not lived up to his previous potential?
  17. With Accrington back in the news after their promotion, I saw an article about their team just prior to the club's disappearance back in the 60s. Most of them were Scots, but what surprised me was that one of them was apparently signed from Eyemouth United, after he played a key role getting them to the Scottish Cup Quarter Finals. Did this really happen?! Or has the journalist got mixed up? I thought Elgin were the only non-league team to get that far. I'm somebody from the Old Folks Home can clarify.
  18. Brewster quoted on BBC : "I will have to bring in at least half-a-dozen replacements and I have a list of players who I would like," he said after the 3-1 defeat.
  19. Agreed, but Livi would hold out for a large transfer fee which would probably rule us out.
  20. Sounded like a good performance. But I just can't get excited about it any more, for me the season ended last Saturday.
  21. UEFA's rationale is even more baffling than the decision. "Bigotry is alright, cos it's been happening in Scotland for years!" Aye, like murder, drug abuse, racism, domestic violence etc
  22. We've heard it all before. "I'm quite happy to stay" (to honour the year remaining on his current contract) is hardly a commitment to stay at the club. He's just doing the sensible thing and keeping his options open. Given that Utd's keepers are all p1sh, Brewster and The Grocer will be happy to pay the £50k or so that will be needed to tempt ICT to sell rather than lose him for nothing next summer.
  23. 185 appearances is pretty self-explanatory, our last 4 managers have all considered him a first team regular.
  24. Would like to see Jackson get a chance in the remaining, meaningless games. I don't think Bayne or MacAllister are good enought to be sub striker, so it would do no harm to try an alternative.
