  1. Alex, I agree that we had a transfer window that we will regret for the rest of the season. But what puzzles me is that at that time we were the form team in the league and on a great run of results that took us from relegation to top 6, achieved : - with Brewster as manager - with Niculae - with McGuire - without Dods - with Duncan - without Wilson playing regularly - without Hart playing at all Yes we lost Rankin, but we have lost far better players than him in the past and just kept getting better. The only thing that has really changed is the rise to prominence of discontent in the dressing room from some key players. With contracts and earnings being at the heart of the problem, what could the manager do about that at 2pm on Saturday, or again this coming Saturday?
  2. I believe that Brewster did his best on Saturday. Can the same be said for all of the players? Yes the manager has to take responsibility for the poor performance, but the reality is that there's only so much he can do.
  3. Until yesterday Hearts fans would have begged us to swap Nade for Niculae.
  4. He came on and played the 2nd half against Dundee today - the day in which both ICTs and St J's seasons ended.
  5. I had thought about travelling up to this one. So glad I didn't, but my thoughts are with those who did make a long journey, or any sort of journey for that matter, to see a performance like that.
  6. A team that lets Calum Elliot score 2 goals against them should all have their contracts terminated, immediately.
  7. It's on the official St J website that he has signed as a 1 month emergency loan and trained with the squad today. There's a pic of him at the ground, along with other loan signings Sean Lynch (Hibs) and Elton John, apparently.
  8. What happened between 1991 and 2000? Too drunk to remember? Or do you just not want to mention your Spice Girls and Boyzone phase?
  9. In between The Sash and Rule Britannia, Rangers fans were singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot at their game tonight. First time I've heard that one. Presumably they are doing it to imply affiliation the England rugby team, rather than showing empathy with black slaves? I can just imagine these Rangers fans having picnics before the game from the back of their Ranger Rovers, and then cracking open the Pimms to celebrate, before returning to their highly paid stockbroking jobs the next day.
  10. Or did FC Kaunas sell Hearts top scorer?!
  11. Time for some British humour, this was a sketch on Mitchell & Webb : The scene is the 1960s, and a housewife is happily washing the dishes whilst listening to the wireless. Upstairs, the husband furtively closes the bedroom door and curtains. He gets a melon out of the cupboard and proceeds to cut a hole in it. He then drops his trousers and gets down to business. Suddenly his wife shouts up the stairs "Darling, darling, you won't believe what's happened..........JFK's been shot!" :029:
  12. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, they were much better 20-25 years ago. Edinburgh Playhouse 1988 gets my vote. Those were the days when big bands played local theatres, and the atmosphere and sound quality tended to be so much better than present day arena/stadium gigs.
  13. Are those song lyrics? David Byrne?

Indeed, Hibs beat Caley and Hibernia beat Caledonia, but I take no pleasure in my winnings. :007:

    Who's happy?

It's hard to be happy in a poor run of form like this, but 6 games into the season we were all wondering if we could overtake Gretna and finish the season in 11th place.
  16. Every week there are worse challenges than that up and down the country, but they get forgotten within hours of the final whistle simply because no serious injury arises. Taylor's challenge is nothing compared to the assault on Scott Brown in a European tie a few months ago, which resulted in a ban of just a few matches for the perpetrator. In Taylor's case normal disciplinary procedures should apply. And Wenger should ask himself what his attitude would be if it was one of his players that committed a similar foul, because one day one of them will go in higher or harder.
  17. Looking for a crumb of comfort, it sounds like we had a pretty good second half. And Marius perhaps put in his best away performance?

Ireland, but hardly worthwhile at 1/6. Maybe an Ireland and Hibs double :007:
  19. A very disappointing development.
  20. Only a few weeks ago he was scoring regularly and people were wondering if we'd hold onto him in the transfer window. :029:
  21. If Gretna can't complete the season then it would be correct to erase all their results and restate the league table unfortunately. I'd imagine that if administration occurs they could still field a team for the next 3 months, even if it largely comprises youth players. The real risk is whether they'd be able to pay Motherwell, stewards and police etc, to enable matches to go ahead.
  22. (Sets it up nicely for a long post from Charles!)
  23. Trying to look for positives, it sounds like we created more good chances than you would have expected.
