  1. I *think* it was Tokely. I know it's a bit odd to be unsure, but the armband somehow didn't seem very obvious....
  2. Just back from a riveting performance, where a lot of the game consisted of Mikey punting the ball up the field to Imrie, where it would generally be won by Gretna. For the five minutes surrounding the two goals we looked like a team with a bit of fight and confidence again, and then it all just drained away again. Why?? Having said that, there were plenty of chances, but these were epitomised by a lovely cross along the goalmouth behind the keeper which Patti and AN Other (can't remember who) somehow magically failed to convert even though the ball was about a foot from the line and no Gretna players were close. Best players on the field were Kissock and Naughton from Gretna. Patti should have been subbed at half time for Hart, just seemed too lightweight today. Most depressing three points I've ever seen. Bayne, Duncan and Munro were all in the stands with us, so I hoped they enjoyed the show...
  3. Thanks Charles. You've saved me typing a lot of :008: :008: :008: :008: :008:
  4. The last time I saw him he was subbed for Niculae in the Killie fiasco. Admittedly he wasn't give much time (late subs? how unusual!), but nor did he do anything to have justified the decision to play him. You want subs to come on and make a difference, otherwise why bother.
  5. Barnsley since last month :001:
  6. Rory (possibly) offered a new contract, but Denzil not? :010: I think there must be something wrong with me as I just can't see what Rory has to offer.

Huh?? He kept a clean sheet in the last two games against them.

It's the monotony of the SPL that drives such unlikely desires. Totally agree. Been to Fir Park for all the Gretna games and all the Motherwell games and was looking forward to a change of pie.
  9. I agree, and this is linked to my Constant Irritation #37364. WHY can't our goalkeepers ever just roll the ball out rather than just hoofing it up to the other team?? We easily have the skills available to keep possession and move the ball forward.

clicky Apologies, they released him because they couldn't pay his medical bills. But he hardly had much choice in the matter.... I think I need medical treatment myself. Never thought I'd see the day I felt indignant over Gretna players :010:

That's true for the 15. And the dog. :003: But I still feel sorry for the players and staff, having to watch Sky Sports News to find out whether they would have a job, because no-one from the club was telling them anything. And in Yantorno's case, being sacked because they couldn't afford his medical bills. No way to run any business.

If it's an April fool, it's a very unfunny one. I've never been able to stand Gretna, but what is happening to the club now is a total disgrace and I feel very sorry for all the players and staff. And the supporters of the original club which may now cease to exist due to it being used as a plaything.
  13. Well, that's what Duncan did on Saturday.... Duncan's a great player. For the opposition. No need to fight for the ball when Russell's about! Amongst the dire play I have had to suffer recently in away games, Blackie still has been one of the few players to look as if he was willing to fight.

No thanks, if Mikey is lacking in confidence, then Gretna should help get it back.

Why are you playing Satan as both a midfielder *and* a lone striker? :015:
  17. Glad to hear that there was a good team effort, even if there are still problems. Not dreading the Gretna game *quite* as much now.
  18. Nice one Scotty :021: Our team sheet from six months ago is beginning to read like an obituary.
  19. I wasn't happy when he came back, as I thought a lot of his previous success had come from his goals. No-one could fault him as a player. But I think our good spell post-CC was just a new manager honeymoon period, and now we need a quickie divorce. The problem is, as many have said, that there's isn't going to be a queue to replace him. And what sort of squad is going to be left for them?
  20. Almost as much fun to watch as Zibi (in opposition), and now available: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ian/7318307.stm Class act at the last game in Tynecastle. :015:

I thought this was going to be a thread about Aberdeen's first goal.
  24. Shame about the Sporting strip, good up to date photo.
  25. I'm pleased for him that he both managed to be selected and that he scored, but I really don't think people in Europe will be queueing up for him, and certainly not for half a million pounds. Mainz 05 got him on a free transfer for the second part of the 2006/2007, and he didn't manage to do anything to stop them relegating, and I can't remember any other 1. Bundesliga teams trying to get hold of him, unlike many of the other Mainz players who did get transfers to other 1. Bundesliga clubs. Nor did any clubs in Belgium show interest to my knowledge, even though he'd only been out of Belgium since the 2006/2007 winter break.
