  1. One thing I have never been accused of is being a member of the sweety rustling PC brigade. I'm not sure I even understand why complaining about some jerk making irresponsible comments makes me one. But I guess I'll just be accused of being either lacking in true intelligence or having no sense of humour, neither of which is actually correct, so we'll have to differ on this one. Nice post and I will agree to differ on this one. The point I was trying to illustrate, for your reference, is that I find within Clarkson's sarcastic humour there is (more often than not) a very valid and well thought out point but he tends to wrap it up in comments aimed specifically at antagonising anyone who disagrees with him to great amusement of his fans. It is a very valid and effective way to argue as the person who you are in debate with tends to get flustered and angry losing all ability to debate the topic properly (a tactic used to great effect by a certain member of this forum) and since my attempts at drawing an argument from yourself using similar tactics have failed, I tip my hat to you sir. And me to you, sir :003:

  3. No, he doesn't tell it as it is. He talks a load of utter bullsh*t and people who don't know any better believe him. A few years ago he had a tirade about horses being ridden on roads and said that if people could afford a horse they could afford a trailer and a 4x4 to tow it, so they could take it some off-road location. There is so much stupidity and uninformed opinion in this single statement it is staggering. The man is a total tube. And probably contributed to dangerous driving around horses on roads because "they shouldn't be there".
  4. Actually, I really liked these Bremen strips, maybe we could go for that in red and blue
  5. Absolutely nothing :003:
  6. Who needs sources? Blackie himself visited me in a dream last night and explained what the current problems with the team were. I don't want to betray confidences, but I can exclusively reveal that next season he will be working as a coach for Cowdenbeath :015:
  7. So finally we can have a proper merger and get a purple strip! A purple top and green shorts, I think.
  8. Any news on what happened after these trials?
  9. One thing which I can no longer remember - did Marius himself demand his current wage before coming?
  10. If they can afford some buckie/Cider or MD 20/20 they can afford 80p for a bus :023: seriously though 80p isn't a **** of alot of money to spend on a bus unless pocket money has gone down in the years since I got some (?10 a week for chores etc.). Going from Forres High St to the Tesco on the A96 (a distance of about 1/2 mile) costs ?1. I just started posting an almost identical message about Buckie and Breezers but you beat me to it :015:
  11. Yup, he looked good. Best player on the field last Gretna game.
  12. I particularly enjoyed all those closeups before the game of the fans holding "No Tims in Europe" scarves aloft. :33: Had there been a choice of game, I would have switched over at that point.
  13. Yup, to us Aberdeen was a booming oil town, to them it was seen as some sort of backwater lacking any basic facilities.
  14. reedee, what would you actually *want* to do? I'm honestly curious. When I was your age I just went round to friends' houses and watched TV or listened to records (big black flat things like plates with music on them :015:).
  15. I had a friend who went to Aberdeen Uni in the 80s and had a girl in his class from Peterborough. Her mother had packed a whole case with toilet rolls, and was concerned that there might be no pavements...
  16. Appealing to a young footballer? They want anything other than pubs, clubs and semi-comatose willing girls? Um...these aren't exactly lacking in Inverness you know. That's what I meant. :003: I grew up in Nairn so a visit to Inverness used to be *very* exciting :015: I think Yngwie is right, though.
  17. Agreed. And people not using commas in the correct place I'm completely in agreement with all of these. Its as if some of the culprits never went to school. I thought I was just about the only grumpy old man left on the forum who noticed. What about starting a sentence with a conjunction, though!!! Oops! :029:
  18. The only person wearing a seat belt survived. Some years ago, before the introduction of rear belts, I was in a crash on an A road involving another four cars. I was in the back, the only person without a seat belt, and the only one injured. I did see a flash of Prince Phillip's face lurking at the side of the road though.
  19. Appealing to a young footballer? They want anything other than pubs, clubs and semi-comatose willing girls? Or is it the lack of experimental theatre in Inverness which is stopping them?
  20. I also hate bad spelling in posts - but you can usually tell the difference between the odd typo and bad spelling. And WRONGLY USED APOSTROPHES :008: :008: :008: :008: What is it with all these apostrophes in plurals? Where the **** did that come from?
  21. Wow, I applaud your optimism :clapping03: We might end up with a point from Gretna and a point from St Midden :019:
  22. Ross McBain. ?? He scored our first goal ! According to the announcer at Fir Park :015:
  23. ICT Top scorers: 3 Dennis Wyness, 5 2 Don Cowie, 8 1 Marius Niculae, 9 From how many appearances? And Cowie is a midfielder recently rehabilitated from living in a caravan, Niculae is an international striker...
  24. I'd rather play both Aberdeen and Falkirk than Gretna again. Crowds will be down to single figures by then...but then so might players for Gretna.
