Who should replace Charlie Christie?
donald park is a total pushover, the players respect him because he works so hard doing things like cleaning up at 7am before training or pumping up footballs but he is not manager material the senior players in the squad would run rings round him terry butcher would be my number one choice, no question about that whatsoever, sadly if what caleyd is hinting at is true then such a commanding figure will never be considered. im still trying to gather my thoughts on the days events, i havent decided how i feel about it all or what will happen next

A plea from the heart
i think what brewsters gone through since leaving makes him a very interesting candidate for the top job, now would be about the only time he could come back and do well, leaving it another 5 years (for example) would be a mistake. hes had the stuffing knocked out of him but seems to have started this season well, he may finally be ready to hang up his boots. i would hope his previous arrogance would have taken a hammering, all the better for his future prospects. i dont think him being a manager in the past should be an issue, nor should the manner in which he left, we can be more mature than that. id hope he would view coming back as a big step forward for himself and an admission he's f#cked up elsewhere. he knows the club well and we all know him, if he has changed as a man then he should be given a second chance he'd certainly get the best out of the front line and nicolae in particular. i sometimes wonder if not being fit enough really is our biggest problem, the squad we have is far more talented than they get credit for. it would give the players and the fans a lift,, id certainly give him my support. christie remains in place for now though and saying the above is probably very premature, im sure there would be a number of candidates should he step down this week.

A plea from the heart
what isnt a rumor is that last year he admitted he couldnt hack the pressure, also the skepticism of his appointment has been lingering since day one, this is nothing new. being able to handle the responsibility, stress and pressures of management were never an issue with robbo or brewster. neither was perfect but their playing experience meant they could breeze in and take over without breaking a sweat, they had all worked and played through everything (good and bad) that could possibly be thrown at an spl team. charlie never had that opportunity beyond a bottled spell at celtic, as i have been saying from the start his poor playing career was always going to hinder him as a top flight manager. compare his role to an equivalent managerial position within a proper firm. if said firm hired an operations manager with no experience, qualifications or track record there would be serious questions asked from the outset and the pressure would be sustained, at the very most they would be hired on a trial basis. icts turnover will in the next couple of years (should spl football be maintained) creep over the ?4million a year mark, the success of the whole organisation is dependant on his ability to deliver a product. admittedly not solely his responsibility on the day but he is the key figure in making sure the whole operation is ticking forward, if he fails then the consequences will be felt all over. he not only has to be good at his job, comfortable, happy and aggressive in meeting the challenge; he has to be able to remain objective when picking his own performances apart as well as of those below him. if he is none of those things and cannot handle the pressure then why the **** are we entrusting him with the stewardship of the first team? blind loyalty for his contribution towards finishing as runner up in the second division? ultimately the reason for him being employed was just that, his rep with the fans. the board have done well in attracting young and promising managers to the club in the past and were (and remain) in an excellent position to attract top quality personnel still, why we dont have the guts to bring in a coach who we could one day have to defend from head hunters is a mystery to me. we're clearly not in the position that we were in when brewster left, we dont pay the lowest wages in the league anymore and could make an excellent offer to pretty much any manager outwith the english premiership and championship. we could actually have a first team boss who doesnt buckle under the weight of about 10 people on a website bo-ing him, who could maybe train a team to full fitness before the season starts and assign them some tactics before a match day.... that would just be a bonus!

What would you do with a 35 million lottery win?
with that kind of money i would own the club and have all my evil schemes (to reward the few fans who do turn up) running by the start of next season. basically the plan would be to have the fans pay for a heavily reduced season ticket (?120 maybe?) but assume the same group can stump up the cash shortfall (plus a bit more) through other all year round ventures, such as regular bowling events, poker comps, club bar, gym, strip shows, dodgy loans, peg selling etc anything that turns a profit. the idea is simple, the average punter gets more for their money than just a seat at a football game and the club earn more over the season than they do by offering bottom of the league garbage. oh and christie wouldn't get a 1 year extension. nor would he be sacked, id just buy the heathmount and make him be first team coach there, id hire ian mccall for the football and all parties would be satisfied. especially ian, id even let him bring in a player or two id watch all the games on tv from my yacht in the med, where i wouldnt give a monkeys scrote how ict were doing in reality. id be too busy having coke parties with a team of scantily clad italian slags with my new pals simon cowel and alistair campbell. we'd be total pirates but first of all when the sun or record came to take a picture of me holding a massive novelty cheque id scribble 'no bawd lyke' on it somewhere and where a caley top with 'rightynuff mun' on the back

10cc has signed a 1year extension
i have to say ive been impressed with ihe's recovery and (apparent) unswerving loyalty to the cause in the face of orwellian levels of policing at the dunfermline game last season though i suppose orwells totalitarianism wouldve seen him thrown out of the ground and hanged.. which he managed to avoid to his credit. there has been an air of genuine concern in his posts lately, which im encouraged by, though his loss of faith should be taken seriously be EVERYBODY. if his gaydar is picking up trouble ahead for hms snéque then there very well could be icebergs dead ahead he's titanic

10cc has signed a 1year extension
Oh I'm quite sure that CC, his family and friends will have much better things to do than read all the inane drivel that appears on here.... Thinking of which..... I'm wondering if you shouldn't be considering a loan to some other website with a much lower profile than this one. Many of your recent posts have lacked that sparkle and authoritive air, with which they once enhanced the overall quality on this site. Perhaps a loan period of un-specified duration, might help you re-discover and re-build your confidence, and maybe even one day earn a you a recall to CaleYThistleOnline... :014: :015: :015: yes its been a tough ride johnboy but youre over the hump now. just remember to NEVER say you'll quit the ict website (as many have in the past) because eventually everybody comes back worse off, its the old ict curse, it works on the fans too

Hibs at it again!!
the last hibs game i went to (not including v ict) was the 6-2 drubbing of hearts 5-6 years back in the mcleish days latapy, sauzee and mixu all scored but i cant remember which of them got the hat trick but i do remember almost getting killed by a police horse on easter road afterwards. that was the first hibs game id been to in years, mustve been about 2001 even then. it was the one that made me realise i really dont give a scooby doo about them, if i was goign to get excited about winning the derby 6-2 at home on a freezing october night then i never would again

Pre-season Friendles - the case for better competition next year...
clubs move home ties all the time in europe, the main reason was obviously the management team didnt believe we'd gain enough from it suppose an ict v tirol insbruk inter-toto 2nd round 1st leg game live from victoria park while elton headlined in inverness wouldve been a bizarre one for the scrapbook
