  1. Apart from the fact that there is no leadership of the park there is none being shown on the field of play. Witness yesterday when an oppostion player was down for 3/4 minutes. Our captain was wandering around by himself when he should have been encouraging his team. He doesn't have to preach tactics just a quick word of encouragement and a pat on the back. At least Duncan showed some concern and heart when he chewed up Bulvitus for an error, even although he is more guilty than most at misplaced passing. Witness also the QOS manager encouraging one of his team after a poor pass rather than giving him a Butcher type rant and wave of the arms. That's the sign of a TEAM.
  2. The draw will be fixed so that we get County in the semis. Imagine the panic if the final was ICT v County! Where would it be held? Remember it cannot be held at an SPL ground so that rules our Perth. Nearest would be Dunfermline, so imagine 6000+ having to travel down A9 on a Sunday. That's why the draw will be fixed to ensure that we get County in semi.......
  3. No mention of the man who fought hard for our club in the early days and who now seems to be the invisible man just because he didn't get on with Sir DS. Yes what about an honorable position for Dougie MacGillivary? Let's name a stand after Dougie.
  4. How much have we actually spent of the Board's promised January budget? Surely Brewster hasn't used any of it yet as he has simply tried to swop wages for wages. He has taken last week's new blokes in and tried to ship out some of our existing players on frees or loans. Spend the money NOW or we are heading down.
  5. Don't know about songs from our fans but I really appreciated the Rangers fans singing in praise of one of our players today! Hey Tokey Tokey Tokey, hey Tokey Tokey Tokey, left hand right hand rah rah rah .........or something like that.............perhaps we could adopt their song. Yes I know.......................................................doh
  6. It shouldn't matter what Brewster says at half time the players and in particular the captain should be aware and up for the second half from the off. They are after all professional players. I've said this before on this forum but I see no evidence whatsoever that Grant leads on the park. He is a great bloke and a fine player, apart from his tendancy to continually hoof the ball up the park to no-one. He needs a solid 'leader' type figure beside him and Proctor, Duff and McGuire aren't that. We need a strong vocal organising central defender along side Grant, then we won't be inclined to loose these early goals.
  7. So point proven then 4size1 Corners - no execution work done by the looks of it at training Yes Imrie is not a defender BUT he is now a professional footballer so basic skills shouldn't mean heading the ball ACROSS the front of the goalmouth area Switching off after half time has happened now on a number of occasions this season and this should be worked on at training or at worst in the dressing room According to the 'Daily Rangers' which I admit to buying on a Monday only (because I read George Galloway page), we are the best disciplined team. We are IMHO too soft and role over on too many occasions, when we came into the SPL we worked hard and never gave opponents a moments peace. Ian Black - yes good point, he needs support and probably does show frustration Still think that Grant struggles without a solid EXPERIENCED defender by his side and he does continually lump high balls to TRY and find our one solitary striker too often Yes Wood very good today but generally our first touch is awful - definately a training ground issue I say again, what are we doing at training to rectify the repeated faults in our game plan, basic skills, error reduction, set pieces, support work, man marking, use of both feet, heading skills (rosco today missed 2 sitters) etc etc etc
  8. Mr Brewster, what on earth do you do in training? When was the last time we scored from a corner? 2 years, 3 years, 4 years or more! Why don't we try a short corner for a change? Why don't we try and drive a low hard cross into the box from the corner flag? Why don't you teach your players to boot the ball to hell out of the park when defending under pressure in or near the box? (example - Imrie today) Do you watch the video of the games and take players to task for mistakes and incorrect decisions taken? (example -Hastings and Imrie today) Why do the players switch off just after half time and loose goals so often? Get them back out on the park after 10 minutes of the interval for a kick around so that we are not caught cold. Why have we got the best discipline record in the SPL? It's because we are still nearly not street wise enough, every week we are conned by clever players who win free kicks in dangerous positions (example - Mackie today who won free kick that led to goal) Why does Ian Black always shoot from 30 yards and get nowhere near the target? (example - today) Why does Grant Munro never learn to pass a ball through, rather than lump it up the park even when he has acres of space and time? Why can't our players control a ball first time like real professionals? Why do we play one up front at home and two up front away? I could go on and on but am totally fed up, not because we have lost again but more because the players are not improving in any basic skills whatsoever and that's the job of the management/coaching team.
  9. Barrowman was mince yet again today but why oh why are we playing with one striker up front at home? From the outset United played further back than any visiting team this season. They were in no hurry to score and Barrowman was never going to get a look in on his own. He also had a sore back due to our defenders thumping high balls up to him, for Wilkie to jump on top of him. Anyway Imrie cost us the game by giving the ball away three times in the first five minutes of the second half and then commiting a totally unnecessary foul from which their first goal came.
  10. Total **** up by Brewster by playing Duff at right back, he got a complete roasting in the second half. But the problems in our team are deeper than that.......................... Yet again we loose a goal early in second half and yet again we see no leadership either on or off the field. Grant doesn't seem to have it in him unless he has an experienced partner beside him, the likes of McGuire or Dodds. He continually lumps the ball up the park when clearing, although thank goodness he had the sense not to use those useless 'long' throw ins today. As for leadership off the park, where would you begin? Why do we thump high balls into the likes of Wilkie and Kenneth when it is obvious that they are giant thugs? Can you not see this Brewster and Munro? Can we not just drive in a lower corner for example where a touch or even a lucky touch from a defender may prove fruitful?
  11. It's the cost. I takes me the best part of a day's work on the wages I earn to take my seat in the Main Stand. ?25 plus programme, half time tickets, bus costs, etc amounts to over ?30. It is so serious that I wouldn't mind too much if I had, for economic reasons, have to revert back to Highland League to watch football. Incidentally I don't have Sky, Setanta or any other TV other tham 'council TV' so I need my fix of weekly soccer.
  12. yeh i agree now. anyone buying yesterday's, match day, p & j would have already read every word of the back page article previously written on friday in the courier. i know these reporters all attend the same press conferences but that's hardly cutting edge journalism and worse still not worth the money.
  13. Sorry this post is a day or two late but I feel still worth posting. Did anyone see the coverage given to ICT in Thursday's P & J? That's correct you didn't see anything because there wasn't any! Time and time again we get lots of Aberdeen news but nothing from the Caledonian Stadium. I recently rang the sports editor and he said that this was because the Dons hold daily press events whilst we only have one a week held on a Tuesday! So who is to blame, the club or the P & J for not extracting some info? In any case I am considering changing my paper after many years, any ideas as to which gives the best unbiased ICT coverage. Please don't suggest the Daily Rangers though.
  14. Totally hacked off yesterday by the substitutions. Why on earth did Brew take on the '3 dead men walking'? Hart I don't want to see playing again as he has signed a pre-season with another club and, according to the press, Patti and McAllister are on the way out. Let's see these young boys we keep hearing about get a full 90 minutes or at least a decent run over the last 4 games.
  15. Fair responses to my initial post. I guess I'm questioning Grant's distribution which is LUMP, LUMP and LUMP again. Also would question Brewster, can he really not see this and others faults, for example most of the team's first touch and Duncan's passing. What do they do in training, do they watch back the videos?
  16. There was a Dils Hendry playing golf as a member of Culcabock a few years ago. I think his claim to fame up there, or at least one of them, was that he holed in one at the first. Give Culcabock a ring?
  17. Has Grant got what it takes to lead this disgruntled group of players through the tough times? Duncan can go anytime he wishes as his passing and negativity is something we don't need. It'll be interesting to see which team(s) are unsettling him. Wyness hasn't got it I'm afraid at Premier level. Niculae whilst very talented needs better players around him and should be shipped out asap. Black is in a comfort zone and has lost all his aggression and willingness to fight. But what about Grant Munro himself? Wins a ball... LUMPS it up the park. Receives a ball.....LUMPS it up the park. Wins another ball .......LUMPS it up the park. Receives a pass......LUMPS it up the park. Does Brewster not point this out to him on a Monday morning and ask him what he was thinking about for each and every occasion that he does this? Although not by any means the worst it's time to step up to the plate Grant and lead, and more importantly show the way forward by making passes instead of just a LUMP here and a LUMP there.
  18. Unlucky to concede at the end, I don't think so! We continually loose games in the last 5 minutes, Celtic, Aberdeen twice and today not to mention others that we have probably lost. It's high time Brew realised this and worked on the players to hold a lead or a good position over the last stages of a game. Black MOM in my opinion.
  19. I know everyone played their part big time today BUT Niculae was easily the classiest player on the park. The way he takes a ball down from any height at any pace, holds the ball, then rolls defenders and makes simple and telling passes won us loads of the ball and time today. He is class with a capital C.
  20. I worked with both Dan and his wife in BT for many years. Also encountered him at many stadiums throughout Scotland where he travelled to see ICT despite his illness. That's the kind of man he was, just got on with whatever was thrown at him, an example for us all. We'll all miss you Dan.
  21. i agree with the previous posts why are we still looking for players now after the season has started. all the good ones are placed by now. we apparently made a profit last year so the cash is there. this has happened to us every year that we have been in the SPL, slow start and tight with the cash. thank goodness Gretna are in the league.
  22. 1. sorry i can't believe that anyone who watched the game yesterday could say that rory has pace, watch a replay he never once got first to a ball in a one on one with a defender. 2. watch rory going for a high ball he never looks at the ball but instead watches the defenders position then trys to pick up the scraps, just watch next time you see him play or once again watch the replay. given the above though he is a young lad and i reckon the coaching staff are to blame as well. they MUST have noticed this inability to follow a high ball when he chooses to watch the man instead.
  23. message for maimie - don't hold your breath that you will get anywhere by speaking to the high heidyeins at ICT. I'm still waiting for the courtesy of a reply to my letter to Alan Savage sent in almost 3 months ago! we are only the paying public after all who pay for tickets, programmes, pies, teas, centenary club tickets, bus fares, caley club membership etc etc. i witnessed some of the goings on today and concur with everything that has been said, the high handed attitude from the stewards and police was totally unnecessary. i am one of the famous sweetie paper rustlers from the main stand and really enjoyed the 'din' made today by the singing section members, well done to all concerned. standing to sing is no crime in fact i'll be in church tomorrow and guess what we all do when we go to sing a hymn, yes STAND!
  24. Thanks to all who responded. The teams in the programme were given as: 'the eleven will be chosen from the following': GLASGOW CELTIC CALEDONIAN 1. BONNAR BRUCE 2. HAUGHNEY FARMER 3. FALLON MACKENZIE FRASER 4. EVANS BOLT 5. STEIN MORRISON McFADYEN 6. PEACOCK MACKINTOSH BAILLIE 7. COLLINS McFARLANE HIGGINS 8. WALSH BAILLIE BODEN 9. MOCHAN FORREST 10. FERNIE McKENZIE 11. TULLY MAIN JAMIESON REFEREE: MICHAEL BOYLE (INVERNESS) LINESMEN: C. KANE and D. MACKENZIE (INVERNESS)
  25. I've got a programme from 1954 for a game between Caledonian and Celtic in aid of the 'stand reconstruction fund'. It was played on Monday afternoon with a 4.30pm kick off. Does anyone have any knowledge about this game, score, money raised, attendance etc?
