Matchday Thread St Johnstone -V- Inverness CT
bughtmaster replied to Scotty's topic in Caley Thistle
I don't mean to spoil your Christmas Sneckboy but don't you think that if we used a rugby style playback system, as incidents happen, en situ then there would be less hassle than governing bodies and compliance officers faffing about whilst getting high fees and coming up with weak conclusions after the event. There would also be no need for your 'dangerous precedent' comment content! Enjoy your dinner, sorry to disturb you.......- 86 replies

Exactly why camera evidence should be used during such incidents in a game. Kingsmills, my argument is based on the fact that referees are very often in the wrong position at such times and that is where blunders come in. Also if Clubs were penalised then managers and management would soon start discouraging such actions. I am quite sure that as it stands now some managers and management are secretly pleased to win any game fairly or unfairly, all that matters to them is that it's all about money in the end. Bring back some principles into the game then there would be less cheating...........Mind you, that could be said about life in general.- 86 replies

The game should be replayed or the points confiscated........that would make managers discourage their players from doing this. A two game ban is not sufficient punishment. We have been cheated and punished with a drop of three places, it is a costly blunder by any standard of refereeing and may also have cost us the league title!!!!!!!!!!- 86 replies

But Alex....must diving remain part of the game ? Do you want it ? I think not! especially in a case like yesterday which has cost us dearly, especially in the light of Dundee United's win over Celtic. Video study replays do not take long and they would take away a lot of uncertainty, show up Cheating ( simulation is not strong enough ) and any Referee bias if there is such a thing. Sneckboy I too applaud such comments from opposition posters on their threads. The game doesn't have to become completely sin free but when it comes to game changing circumstances then I would like to see a lot more honesty.- 86 replies

If as people are saying that the penalty resulted from a dive then this has happened at many a game. The only ways I can think of to stop this cheating is the use of video evidence and in retrospect to give the offenders severe punishment or alternatively football should go the way of many other sports and use instant camera scrutinising of any unclear incidents. It works well for other sports.................so do we have to wait for permission from FIFA or could the SPFL instigate this themselves?- 86 replies

Childrens' hour not really............Tommy Handley, Wilfred Pickles yes + the Goons, Workers' playtime, all on the bbc light programme as was!! V day yes and the previous day my sister and I , living up in Thurso at the time, were out in the town centre waving flags until we were told off by some Warden who chased us off home for jumping the gun with our Celebrations. Also before then tuning in through crackles and whistles on short wave to the LEIPZIG Station on the wireless to listen to what Lord Haw Haw had to say. I also remember that when the 'air raid' siren sounded whilst at school we had to crawl under our desks and stay there till the 'All clear' siren went. Often thought we didn't stand much chance if a bomb ever hit the school. Any more pre war memories Oldies ? Ration books etc. Oh dear strayed off topic again................what is the topic here anyway..............I've forgotten !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jock I was just trying to bring some humour into this weekends postings which have in the main been negative and depressing.....at least in my eyes that is! Your question is a good one This is a general thing and has happened since football began, with most football teams experiencing it at some point. A malaise? a sudden combined lack of self motivation throughout the team triggered by an unexpected 'easy goal' against you. It is then a case of playing catch up while being tensed up............ A little bit like stage fright in some respects which you either get over quickly or things go from bad to worse! You are right it usually does happen against teams you would expect to beat, that in it'self may have a bearing on it. the responsibility aspect. The answer, I wish I knew, perhaps sports' psychologists can give you the answer. relaxation would help but you ain't got time to relax on the football field. Leadership on the field too can have a bearing on this but it takes an exceptional Captain to be able to rally his troops at the precise moment to keep the guilt feeling out of his players heads so they can play their normal game. Keep the Faith I'm sure we will recover the lost points along the way So sorry Jock for my flippancy in my opening reply I hope someone will give us the answer

It's tactics! Thought we would tease the Dons and D U and let them think they could catch us. As for the high and mighty Silts, well, they were given a little gap to lull them into a sense of security. After all it is Christmas so we can afford be charitable on this occasion.
-
That is it precisely, they are all trying out our style of play in training and practice looking for ways to contain us. However I am quite sure J H has something up his sleeve, knowing that others will catch on (as Partick did yesterday) in time he will come back with a revised version that will flummox them again. Have faith TogetherNess will win.

We've never really had a good game against Partick. They always seem to turn us over, just like they did at their place earlier in the season - our first league defeat if I remember correctly. This result shouldn't be a shock although, I have to say, the scoreline is. If we cast our minds back to the County game, we could have been 0-4 down at HT in that but we got lucky. These freak results do happen every season and we've just had ours. We do have the chance for redemption in the cup but I wouldn't bank on it to be honest. A bad day at the office for ICT who will pick themselves up. The only bright spot for me was the fact I never made it up for this game (which was planned) so at least I wont get the blame this time
-
Shock! Horror! Bad day at the Office, First Home loss, I suppose it had to happen sometime. Might make Partick over confident for our cup match ................Always look on the bright side!
