if we get into Europe
Didn't we have an Dons fan gloating on here that Aberdeen were top of the league for the 1st 2 weeks. I would be chuffed with a top six finish for the first time and 3rd, 4th or even 5th? place may not be that far away by then, in the meantime I'm not really giving any thought to Europe. I'm just enjoying each game as it comes.

Good news if we are aiming for a top six, bad if you think ICT might be relegated. Personally it would be a good outcome for me, including DDU and Hibs a point each, if Killy beat Hearts even better,6 points above Midden with a +13 goal difference and might be back in 4th.

SPL Expansion. Good for us?
A 14 team league will certainly reignite the interest in 1st division football and gives a lot of hope to 1st division fans regarding top flight football and still keeps it competitive. With 16 -not enough games are played. 18 -wouldn't tally up 20 -would work in theory 38 games but not in practice, we don't have enough quality teams to add 8 and it means the likes of Brechin could win promotion to the SPL the following year which would dilute the quality in the SPL If I make up some figures, say the SPL put ?2,000,000 in to a pot and all the teams get a cut, making a 20 team league the pot still sits at ?2,000,000 so its less to share. The same goes with tv rights. A SPL 2 league cup could be created. A top 8 bottom 6 split gives hope to the smaller SPL teams of getting in to the top half but 6 and 8 would make more sense considering the smaller teams will have to play more games to get the money in through the gate and the best 6 teams should be involved in cup games for a longer period, it also rests players for international games. I'm in favor of 14

Our last defeat away..........
Rangers are to play- Celtic, Killy midweek in the Cis cup on Wednesday, us on Saturday and could be distracted by the champions league game a few days later. So fingers crossed we could take something from the game and according to Alex's cheap calender that he bought on ebay, thats a year undefeated on the road.

ICT or not ICT?
You have a point there, I was chatting to about 9000 people in the pub the other night and they all said if the name changed they would be chomping at the bit to watch Inverness Highland Scotland UK united play football. Regarding all the so called stay aways from the merger, what was the average highland league attendance at the 2 clubs and what would be a realistic percentage of people staying away 5% ? IMO the majority of so called abstainers are people who didn't actually go to any matches, have no interest in football but instead have invented a reason to talk about why they don't go to watch footy.

ICT's Key Player?
This is a tough one but I would say Rooney, Against Aberdeen every one fitted in to their position exceptionally well. If you took one of the team out of that formula, another player could slot in and get one or two players to swap positions if applicable to maintain the strength as a unit providing we had most of our squad available. If Rooney was out then I feel the formation would have to change too. Its a difficult question though as all the players compliment each other and can make good teams look bad and one player alone cant take the credit for that.

Our strongest starting 11?
The same team as we had for Aberdeen except with Gillet at lb (due to experience). I saw too many good things last Saturday to think differently

Player Sponsorship 2010-11
My apologies, if it refers to a private discussion that you had with Guzz then you are right. I will have no idea as to what or whom you are referring to.

Player Sponsorship 2010-11
Guzz Let us know if there is a shortfall .... We all know that this is not a profit making exercise (or all of us except one it would seem) so if there is a shortfall CTO will cover it as we would not want you to be out of pocket. Is that really necessary ?

Top six- target
Nothing wrong with positive thinking, and to be perfectly honest we have nothing to fear in the SPL with our current squad and team spirit. I seem to recall we were only just pipped for a top six spot by The Dons three years ago?? Scotty's probably best guy to confirm the stats. Aberdeen got in on 44 points that year, the runners up were Hearts on 42,Falkirk 41,and us on 36, 05 was our best, Well got in with 43 points and we were so close with 42

Top six- target
Ive checked other SPL team tables after game 33,sixth place, most recent first. Hearts 44,Hibs 42,Dons 44,Hibs 44,Dons 48,Mwell 43,Utd 42,Mwell 43,Dee 42. Some may think that this is a tad premature but theres no harm in having something to focus on and the most constructive way to avoid relegation. The cup final with Dundee, that was the day my faith was reignited in the team, that we could mount a strong challenge for the 1st division cup. I've witnessed enough this season from our players on an individual basis and as a unit to have faith that a top 6 is a possibility. I think 41 points will be enough this season for sixth place as points from the old firm will be hard to come by, not impossible but hard and points taken off of the likes of Hibs, United,Aberdeen ect lowers the bar too. In the meantime I'm just going to enjoy each game as it comes.

Top six- target
Has anyone got any SPL stats on how the tables looked over the years after game 33. Would be interesting to see what targets could be set to get into the top 6. Any useful web sites that could provide this info?
