  1. For some reason I keep thinking about Lehman Borthers... Romanov does own a bank after all, and I bet everything is most certainly not all smiley and happy in his little business empire at the moment. I'd be in favour of much tighter controls on club ownership; it would maybe have prevented what happened to Gretna. However, it would have to be stricter than the English system, which did after all let Thaksin buy into Man City, when he could in no way be described as a fit or trustworthy person to own or run a business of any kind!
  2. That's what annoys me. We're NOT a bad team, and most of the players we have are perfectly capable of doing the job. The team just seems to be lacking direction and motivation. One wonders why...
  3. That's funny KB, I had the exact same thought! :015:
  4. Whoever was responsible, Dennis has been screwed around good and proper with this contract business. I won't blame him at all if he takes up St Mirren's offer, although I'll be sad to see his time with us end like this.
  5. Urgh! I don't want to be a grammar Nazi, but when I see people using "would of" or "could of" it makes me shudder! Unfortunately it happens a lot these days, so I spend a lot of time shuddering... :rolleyes02:
  6. The last thing we need is another player-manager. We need someone who knows what he's doing. No more rookies, PLEASE!!
  7. You hit the nail on the head there. Xausa was simply the laziest player I've ever seen in a Caley Thistle strip.
  8. For me, Barry Wilson. End of.
  9. I feel really sorry for Dennis. It's obvious his confidence has been completely destroyed by what's happened to him this season, and that's very sad. Dennis is a gentleman and he doesn't deserve any of this. If he does leave, I hope ends up somewhere where he is supported and respected and can get his confidence back. In the right environment he could still achieve a great deal.
  10. Way back years ago, when I first wanted to john the message board, I was having trouble deciding on a name, so I asked The Fly to help me out. He, being a creative sort of chap, came up with a list of about ten names, and I chose WriteOnCaley as I do indeed write about Caley Thistle. Never looked back since, and have used it as a user name for all sorts of other websites as well!
  11. We did not "ditch" Charlie Christie, he resigned because of the undue pressure placed on him by certain people, and because of non-stop sniping comments like this. Had he stayed, who knows what would have happened. It's my guess that we might not be as far down the table as we are now, but unless someone can access some kind of parallel universe where everything worked out differently we'll never find out now.
  12. It's not just "a bad run of games", if it were then most of the support would probably accept that and get on with it. Unfortunately it goes much deeper than that: we have been playing like this for most of the season, the players look demoralised most of the time, the club seems ****-bent on cutting off its nose to spite it's face and there's been so much bad PR coming out of the club that Alistair Campbell himself would struggle to put a positive spin on things. No wonder so many people, myself included, are so depressed by what we see.
  13. Living away from Inverness, I haven't had a season ticket for about three seasons now, so for me the question is academic. This season I've been pretty glad not to have a season ticket as from beginning to end the whole thing has just been one big waste of time, money and effort. "Abject" is the word that comes to mind. I'm considering taking up golf for next season... :010:
  14. I enjoyed it, actually laughed out loud a few times. But don't be so harsh on Ivy League, Johndo. If he is who I think he is, then he's a friend of mine, and certainly not the thing you wanted to call him.
  15. Brewster's not a saboteur, just incompetent.
  16. Am I alone in finding this whole situation completely bizarre? :017:
  17. I really hope this story is not true. However, if it is then it again highlights Brewster's complete lack of people management skills. If you ask your staff for their views and opinions on things then you have to be grown up enough to accept what they say and take it on board without throwing a strop. If Brewster has indeed fallen out with two more of the club's most respected players (including the captain!) then I don't see how he can carry on here much longer. He seems ****-bent on alienating most of the squad and this rate we will have no players left, as he will have fallen out with them all.
  18. Hear hear! :clapping03:
  19. "Little help over here! Can somebody tell me what I'm supposed to be doing?!"
  20. I would tend to agree with Action Man that it's time we started to make our voices heard in the real world, not just online. This doesn't necessarily mean booing the players; that wouldn't be fair and would be counter-productive. However, there are many other ways that we can get our opinions across, and I feel it would be worthwhile trying them, as the situation we find ourselves in is beyond a joke and I for one am sick and tired of what's happening to the club I love.
  21. I'd be happy with Terry Butcher. He did ok with limited resources at Motherwell, he's quite well respected, would be able to motivate the players and handle their egos, and would have the contacts to be able to attract players to ICT.
  22. Did you expect any different from a guy who spoke about the importance of loyalty only days before leaving us for United?
  23. Like you Scotty, I don't really care who replaces Brewster. Almost anyone would be better, as long as he knows what he's doing and can handle the situation the team is in. End of.
  24. Sorry, I should have said "in the not too distant past" as last season and even this season (which has been bad beyond belief) there have been some good performances. Anyway, even if some of the older players are "past their best" it doesn't doesn't in itself explain why the whole squad is underperforming so consistently. They're not all getting on in years, and you're not telling me we don't still have some pretty decent players. I feel that we sorely miss Donald Park, we could sure do with someone like him in the dugout right now.
  25. These are good players, as we've seen in the past from many of them. Good players don't suddenly ALL become bad players overnight, something or someone is responsible for their lack of form, and this where fingers have to be pointed at the management and coaching staff.
