  1. And McHattie.... I think the other two new guys add a bit of pace and mobility to the side And we still have Polworth...for now Shame about Oakley going... but if Austin is fit, we need to see more of him on the pitch (and Daniel Mackay)
  2. Not now he wont! Just found out that they have moved the away fixture with Partick in March to Friday night! Which rather spoils my plans to fly up Saturday morning with my wife, eldest daughter and her boyfriend to match the match. Annoying much!
  3. Slightly shocked, but he's out of Contract at the end of the season, (and the small fee probably covers the laundry bill) anyway I think McCauley can do a job for us in his place
  4. Had an enjoyable trip up with Caley Mad...I think our view was that this was a match of two goalkeepers, theirs pulled off three good saves, ours just didn't have the match experience and got caught out by the corner....the first goal wasn't his fault, and was the only time in the first half we got carved open. I thought Brad and Jamie had good games at the back, especially during the 2nd half when I though that we were playing with only two at the back. Welsh was pretty solid IMO, and promising signs from McCauley, and to a lesser extent McDonald given he had about ten minutes...I though Doran was pretty impressive, he seemed to be the danger man for us, so it was really disappointing to see him go off injured with either a hamstring or a groin strain (he pulled up when in full stride). Austin was busy, but can't recall a shot, header or many passes, but did win the free-kick which eventually led to our 2nd goal First trip to Falkirk, impressive stadium, great to see two ends with plenty of fans in them...although they were pretty quiet! Back to the goalkeeping situation, it beggars belief that OFW was injured when he hasn't played in how long...I can't believe we are still paying his wages!
  5. True ...we had one, Jordan Mutch, cost us £5.7M, never scored a goal (other than in a friendly) and on probably £40-50K a week, was on loan to a club in MLS last year and they didn't want to keep him...strange as he had looked decent at Cardiff. Could do a job at Scottish Championship level probably but not at those prices. I think we get very good value for money at ICT!
  6. As long as he plays for ICT and he's making an effort he'll always have my support He's scored a few goals as well, and some of them are the simple ones....... by being in the right place usually. Don't estimate that, my other team had 120shots on goal in 5 home games recently and scored just five goals...and it was the simple chances that were squandered
  7. I think the correct response to this news is 'bugger!' He has been one of the highlights of the season and was weighing in with some goals... Still on the bright side if we can get into and stay in the play-off positions both Donaldson and Walsh should be back, fit and fresh?
  8. Yes a bit of a shock that, has had a groin op.
  9. The Semi-final winner against Celtic is up there, not least becaue I took a Megabus sleeper coach overnight from London to get to the match.....but Vincent's winner in the Final, a) because I was there , b) because it was super-tense being down to 10men, conceding the lead and with Falkirk in the ascendancy and c) because my other team has been 7 minutes or so away from winning a proper Cup twice, so to actually see ICT pull it off makes me kinda weepy
  10. The 'lesser spotted' Beith perhaps?
  11. Great result ...good to hear White had a good game, especially as Austin and Oakley weren't even on the bench (at least Daniel is back). Play-offs are very much on the cards, but it'll be nip and tuck I reckon, Ayr not won in five, since they smashed Dundee and only twice since the start of November....think they could be vulnerable to dropping out of the play-offs eventually. We could do we a couple more new faces I reckon. Rather surprised by the County result! This and Caley winning has partly made up fror my other team having it's pocket picked. Just two weeks before I get to see Caley live again...I canna wait
  12. 3 hours before a match, and no sign of life! That's not really surprising, I can't think of any clubs where you could turn up that early and expect anything to be happening, not least because the food/beer costs at your average Football/Rugby/Cricket venue tend to be eye-watering. In reality the football is the point of going to the stadium, and nothing else. Caley Mad and I are coming up for Falkirk away in a couple of weeks, and we'll get there quite early, so the Kelpies are probably going to be the height of the pre-match experience (unless CMIB pins me down in a pub for hours) I like the location of our ground, but if the stadium was closer to the centre of town, it would be closer to people's attention, and attendances might be a little higher, but being in the Championship there is little media profile for the club and so the club is like the stadium...largely out of sight and out of mind. We have punched above our weight somewhat in the past, but to be serious regular players in the top league and Cups takes a fair bit more money on a regular basis than we currently generate. I would definitely argue against ditching the development/youth teams, if anything we need to push that side more, and try to get more youngsters into the side and (and it's not popular) get used to selling them on...we need to become conveyor belt of talent. On the plus side Walsh is looking like a real star for us, and is probably important for our short term (1-2 seasons) future
  13. Sounds like a good game, which Caley were well in, Oakley missing was a dissappointment, let's hope his injury is not too serious or absence lengthy. Hadn't realised that Whie's goal was his first (in the league) in 2months. Rooney getting sent off will hurt us more than the County guy hurt his team, given our paucity of resources, although Tremarco is back so I guess everyone in the backline shuffles sideways in the next game (or three?). Slightly confused by Robbo's claim of a one-sided game on ICT's side when BBC showing us having less possession (47%) with 12 shots to County's 7...was it thus? (my other side had 62% possession and 31 shots to 9 in a nil-nil draw on Boxing Day!). Automatic promotion looking a bit tricky at the mo!
  14. er no! Too many of us love that guy!
  15. PERFECT! Walsh becoming a goal machine? Both my sides win away Happy Christmas everybody!
  16. My impression is that this is someone being a bit of a **** and thinking he is clever or funny, dropping this into the song like this. It could be the drink talking, but clearly some individual has an underlying issue...aside from stupidity. I was going to say I'm disappointed that this has happened at a club where I didn't expect it, but in reality I never under-estimate the ability of a young male to act up under the influence. Sectarianism does seem to be a bit of problem North of the border, Down here we just have to deal with casual and not so casual racism, and the re-emergence of anti-Semitism (although much of this seems linked to Palestine and the Left, and political point-scoring). Of course social media makes things worse as it is so easy to get caught out...which in one way is a good thing, but of course offence is caused before the attitude can be challenged. I suspect that the club is looking in to it, and will take the appropriate action, which might not be sacking but the use of suitable life-coaching (and a fine of course).
  17. It seems to me we have quite a small squad, (we only seem to have 14 senior players fit) that lacks pace, is missing the gameplayer in midfield (Vigurs) and a nature goal scorer. The defence is solid enough, but without Tremarco and the departed Calder/Seedorf is a little unbalanced. Plus notes for me is the overal form of Ridgers, Donaldson, Walsh and Oakley, while Polworth seems to deliver in fits and starts. We are probably 5 players short of a decent team in reality...although I don't understand what's happened to Austin, he seemed to be a promising addition once he got going last season. (as for Beith, how did he pass his medical!?)
  18. Well it was nice to see that result after my other team got stuffed away to our main rivals (Brighton, if your asking). It may only be the Cup and it might only be against a lower league team, but the score-line is enough to get a bit excited. For a guy of seemingly limited ability and mobility White does keep scoring! It's as important to stick the ball in the net against the lowly teams as the better, and is a sign of a decent player IMHO. Walsh is in a purple patch at the mo as well. Have to agree with the comment on Rooney, as a defender I think he below average, but going forward he seems a different player, shame we released Seedorf because I thought he had the makings of a decent RB (but then I would also have kept Bell) Good to hear the youngsters doing well. Lets hope we can carry a bit of confidence into the game against the might Ayr this week (Just tap Shankland's ankles a few times, just make sure it's not the same player doing it!)
  19. Seems a fair assessment, and as Broonerz has mentioned we are lacking in pace, Mulraney, Seedorf and Calder have all gone in the past few months and erratic as they were they did provide pace. Likewise in midfield creativity we have lost Vigurs and not replaced him, in theory Beith was his replacement, but he's looking like a permanent sick note (and to think it was not so long ago that we had Christie, Watkins and Tansey). We have got down to bare bones a bit too quickly and the defence does look unbalanced. That said from the highlights we looked decent enough, and whilst there were a lot of draws in the run, that 25 game run is still impressive enough. The lack of a really good striker might be affecting us, but Austin was good enough towards the end of last season, and Oakley seems to be doing alright. I guess we were hoping for a more certain run to promotion and I think that somewhat sways peoples views as to how we are really playing....be interesting if we were to clog Shankland out of the game on Friday for a few matches and see how Ayr get on without their key man! We just need to stay in contention until January, and hope the board can find some money for a couple of reinforcements
  20. Given that Elbouzedi came off the books at the end of August, and Calder had his contract terminated just recently, we are a bit short numbers-wise, but it must have released a bit of money in wages...Owain Fon-Williams contract runs out in May (?) next year, but he seems to be having a decent time in the US, so maybe another loan to see him finally off the books, might release a tad more cash. Personally I think we still need to replace Vigurs, and we need another right back (one with a decent turn of speed and cross). I guess we all want another striker, but that maybe un-obtainable cash-wise, whereas being able to deliver better balls into the box, might get more out of the four strikers and two wingers we already have.
  21. Extraordinary! When we went 0-3 down I though that it was the unbeaten run over! Can't wait to see the highlights
  22. Feel's like the last two matches have seen to very decent performances, is there an upward curve in our overall performance level? Small squad could become an issue for us though...will need Tremarco back, and this guy called Beith Anyway loved the three points, has raised my spirits given my other teams unlucky defeat (again!) Looking forward to the Ayr away matchearly December...could be season defining for both teams
  23. Blimey; who'd run a football club! After what appears to have been an excellent performance suggesting we might have found the key to unlocking a few more wins, the club have no option but to forsake the services of the same player. And entirely understandable! And if Tremarco is still injured the impact on the club could be more challenging still.
  24. Have to say Rooney took his goal well! That's three for the season now (better going forward than defending perhaps?). Given how things started last season it's good to see how Ridgers, Oakley and Calder have grown in the fans affections as being decent players. Donaldson has questions marks against him when he first came but dispelled that pretty quickly...I still rather wish we had been able to keep Bell as I think he did offer something different up front.
  25. Sorry to hear this, but best wishes with your upcoming treatment.
