I agree Storey should be through the middle (Hughes should be dropped to the development league) and Meekings should be in the centre I just don't know what kind of thoughts our manager is having. Also, much as people like Foran who is an up an at them individual he is not a fit for the type of football Hughes has been trying to promote, so I don't know what Hughes is doing "losing my religion " comes to mind. I heard him before the match decrying players for not having a shot etc but I have known players whom I've played with getting a nosebleed when approaching the 18 yard box, they just can't have a go. Danny McGrain great player that he was, was a prime example, couldn't burst a paper bag.

This has been coming for a while, if we play Foran up front you know a long ball is going to be played . I don't want to slag Foran or his style of play, that's just the way he plays, combative in the air but it's an easy style to defend against. If you cast your mind back to the time of his injury, it was after that the club started playing the passing game and we reaped the benefits winning the SC and coming 3rd. fact is we have lost our best players particularly the pace and bent runs of Watkins and the all round ability of Shinnie. We have also missed the control of Christie and the work rate of Doran. Not one shot on target by half time just follows the theme of previous matches, frankly, why Hughes is even on the park is a mystery with Roberts sitting on the bench. I hope for a comeback but frankly i think we are out.I'm more worried about our league position hope I'm wrong.

We had three decent players (not great given our past Scottish heritage) in Watkins, Shinney and Christie and that's the difference. Take them out of the team and we are very ordinary. JH alluded to this in his interview before the StJ match recalling the loss of Billy McKay etc, it's quite clear Hughes is frustrated at the loss of our best players, I read it as a comment directed to the board. If we lose to Hamilton at the weekend I believe we will be in the play off position, if you can't score you can't win. It would be a strange coincidence if Falkirk whom we beat in the final relegate us as they did some years ago. Quite frankly, given our current form I would not bet on us to beat Falkirk. Fact is the level of the SPL is awful, our fomer 1st div team under Patterson would be comfortably in the top six, that's how far the standard has fallen.

Kingsmills, Brighton and Hove Albion have more words??? I take it you don't attend many sports quizzes, and just why did you deem my comment worthy of a negative vote? it certainly seems to have generated explanation and comment which was the whole point and some interesting background of which I was unaware has been the result. Also it seems that not all supporters are settled on the name of the club I have received criticism from Thistle fans for using only the word Caley, frankly if the name of the club was Caley Thistle not many would complain everyone knows the clubs are from Inverness without stating the obvious, just my thoughts.
-
I sometimes wish the Directors had chosen a simpler name for the club, trying to write a song to include Inverness Caledonian Thistle aint easy.not sure why Inverness Utd wouldn't have fitted the bill. Perhaps someone can enlighten me. i'm sure our name must pop up in football quizzes from time to time off the top of my head i can't think of a longer one.

I hope the Chairman has the sense to say no chance, we don't need Stoke's baggage at our club. This is a guy who because of his attitude can't get a place in a really poor Celtic side. The Hibs fans were not exactly distraught to see the back of him despite his goals and neither are Celtic. http://www.hibs.net/showthread.php?251689-Tom-English-on-Anthony-Stokes

You may have stumbled onto something here DD , he's already discredited Scottish refereeing, his performances in Europe have also been laughable, how this guy is in the top flight of referees in both jurisdictions invites conspiracy theorists like yourself.
-
Ok Kingsmills you reeled me in, I am not trying to be entertaining and the label conspiracy theorist is the derogatory term used by those who are unfamiliar with the facts. I prefer the term alternative view meaning it does not accord with the ministry of truth (see 1984) ie the BBC and main stream media. The attackers in paris and san bernadino were described by independent eyewitnesses as white males, clean shaven in army fatigues driving black SUV's,( sounds a lot like defence contractors) doesn't exactly square with MSM reports now does it?
-
Alex, I know, see the link to the game I posted on page 1. Three major rickets (only 2 shown) by Collum which heavily influenced the game. Apparently, he's been refereeing since he was about sixteen, clearly he couldn't play it, who would choose to referee at that age rather than play.

Actually 12th man this is about ICT off the park, all those fans who see the boogie man round every corner or in every left bag, you have more chance of drowning in your bath than being killed by a terrorist. For those who would like to educate themselves I recommend "The terror factory, inside the FBI's manufactured war on terrorism" by Trevor Aaronson. Doofers dad, if you don't know the significance or origins of ISIS then the joke's on you and what on earth has the Holocaust to do with my comments? very cheap shot. Renegade, I laughed out loud, I do have a sense of humour, even though it's a serious subject. Ok that's me done with this subject.
-
Not to worry, once the Europeans get a taste of his blunders they will just assume our referees are on a par with our footballers.
-
Hell might freeze over before we do but we live and hope, seasons greetings.
-
What are you all wittering about, the only terrorism being perpetrated is by the security services. There is no war on terror, but there is a war of terror being perpetrated against the middle eastern nations and their poor civilians. Anyone see the "alleged" shooting of the policeman in the Charlie Hebdo attack which was unsurprisingly quickly taken down. In frame 1 there is a cue mark in the middle of the road where the car stops, in the final frame there is a cue mark opposite the front passengers wheel which was not in the first frame, ergo, the scene was shot in at least two takes ie it's a fake. I could go on about so many ridiculous issues surrounding this piece of theater. While I'm about it I would like to point out that President Assad is the democratically elected leader of Syria with 83% of the vote, you wont hear that on the BBC. Enjoy the games at TC stadium without this fearmongering.

Good in the air, good anticipation, good passer, good tackler so why is he playing in the lower swedish leagues? is he an up and coming youngster or is he playing at his level? I must say I like a CB who points to where he wants his teammates to go shows good reading of the game and confidence in his own ability to deliver the pass as does his more risky moves. He seems to be playing on astroturf pitches which is a lot different to grass where bad bounces make life much more difficult for those at the back, passing is also more difficult as the ball doesn't travel as quickly. Anyone know how he played against Thistle?

Now there's a contradiction a thinking SFA Committee, what next. It's a good point 12th man but you might be accused of thinking long term and that wouldn't do. No no no get with the programme, you are supposed to be enthused with this clever short term fix for this dead as a Doh Doh tournament. We should rename it after it's TV counterpart, pointless. The SFA and the clubs know it's only there to provide what revenue can be got from the public or am I being too cynical?. Strangely enough if it turns into a financial pup it could be the driver to either reinstate the European spot or enlarge the league and that, (in my opinion) would be a result for Scottish Football..

Deano I don't know if you can remember the last time group games were in operation but they attracted some of the lowest crowds EVER recorded in Scottish football even amongst the OF teams (they had good players then) who used to field reserve sides to give them some experience against older pros. They were glorified training sessions. If I am a manager with a small squad i would use these games to get the players match fit for the coming league season and avoid injuries if possible. The novelty of summer football might give it a boost for a season or two but after that? Also as many have noted if you have qualified for Europe who are you going to play against to get players up to speed I suppose Scottish clubs would have to play against foreign opposition for that purpose. Either give it a European slot or scrap it entirely and add two teams to the league which would financially benefit all SPL clubs to a greater extent given the support attracted by Hibs and Rangers. There's a conservative extra 5,000 fans @£20 = £100,000.

Odd's fish m'dear pimple, it's really quite simple that coined little ditty, that you find so pretty t'was coined by Sir Percy, to Chauvelin, he showed no mercy criticised his limp cravat, ridiculed his clothes as tat he said with a passion "so much for French fashion" t'would cause him anxiety, in high London society to be seen in such clothes, and then he just closed with "You see, m'dear Chauvelin I am a poet and you did not know it, whaaat" (Sir Percival Blakeney, Barronette) The Scarlet Pimpernel "so the tailors will run the country and no one will make the clothes, so much for French fashion... and French politics"
-
Back to the future or Groundhog Day come to mind I've already trashed this meaningless tournament elsewhere so wont drone on again other than to say it is pointless unless or until a European spot is given to the winners.
-
m'dear pimple just being conversational whaaat You sir, are a poet and I did not know it (Faith Sir, Blakeney's genes live on in you I'd wager) My regards to Castlegar.

I think it's a very poor situation for the club to be in and should have been resolved after the cup final. If no agreement is reached it means we have a lame duck manager who is going at the end of the season and players don't give their all for someone who will have no effect on their future. I would be in favour of paying up his contract and getting a new man in now, it's either that or flirt with the very real possibility of relegation. Players don't mean to down tools but they just ease off in training and in games, the edge isn't there. Perhaps the board want some commitment like moving his family up to Inverness, who knows, i'm never comfortable when a manager doesn't commit to the area and I appreciate few have but it suggests a temporary situation. The other issue which grates with me and was a habit of TB's was to refer to the club as though it were some third party and nothing to do with them eg Inverness or Caley thistle rather than "we" or "us" or "our". JH has shown he can change the style of play what is in doubt is the scouting side of things which we will always need as we are a stepping stone for many players. Does anyone know if we still have an connection with Steve Marsella? who seemed to be an excellent judge of a player.
-
Following PerthICT's comments apparently you can bite a player on three occassions and still play for Real madrid, I think he is correct, the club have decided to cut their losses and free up wages for someone else. As someone who has been on the receiving end on the pitch I would love to see a moral stance taken by all clubs to ban gobbers but like Yngwie says, if he was our top scorer would it happen? Sadly football is not known for its morality Saurez being the outstanding example.

Best pub by some distance in the George's cross area is the Bon Accord especially for real ale followers like me.

IBM it just shows the sorry state of Scottish Football, the product is poor and most of the lesser clubs are relying on loans, non leaguers and guys who have blown a couple of chances on making the grade or guys who are over the hill. I can't see the lesser clubs in the league maintaining full time football for long.I worked beside a guy whose son was in the Falkirk youth programme for three years, a good young player who was playing with the under 19s at age 17. As soon as Falkirk were relegated most of the youth system was binned, three years wasted, he's now an electrician. There's no money in Scottish Football.

Listened to Dallas Snr bragging that we had 2 referees amongst the "elite" level in Europe one of which is Collum, nuff said. It's not just us who thinks he is hopeless, the europeans think the same whenever they have been unfortunate enough to have him officiate. I don't believe most of these referees have ever kicked a ball in anger at any level and so are clueless when it comes to interpreting what has occurred. There's learning in the classroom and learning on the job most have never experienced the latter. Also listened to Jim Mcinally re our under 21s who reckoned none are ready to step up to the full international squad despite 4 years of "Elite" there's that word again coaching. That includes Christie who was anonymous in the last match and Gauld who got himself sent off.
