  1. Two for Nathan Austin for Kelty and one for Toddy for Dunfermline in their League Cup wins today.
  2. Reflecting on today when trying to pick my three for the player thread, as we seemed to be missing guile in midfield, should we put Carson back in there and give Duffy a run at right back? I would certainly support that, despite how well Carson has done at right back. Has Duffy fallen out of favour? He is still very young and showed potential last season.
  3. I disagree Jack. It wasn’t a penalty early on but the free kick they scored from was fair enough. Our players were distracted by Carson’s injury but I don’t think the kick was stoppable. There seemed little in our penalty claims, with Duku going down far too easily in my opinion. Even if the ref did make any wrong calls, we were against a team two leagues below us and should have been able to carve out a win, even from 2 down. Sadly we only had one really clear chance after getting back to 2-2, but Doran put it wide. Both our goals were decent, though. I was surprised Peterhead beat Cove today, as Stirling were much better today than Peterhead were on Tuesday.
  4. Disappointing performance and result, but can’t grudge Stirling getting the extra point. We didn’t have the craft and guile to turn our possession into a winning goal when faced with resolute defending and once it was 2-2, other than the sitter Doran missed at the death, Stirling came closest to scoring. MacKay had no chance with the goals. Carson was hampered a bit by the knock he took early on, but became our most influential player. I was not as impressed by Broadfoot today, and he doesn’t seem fully fit. Fyffe was having a tough time, which is probably why he was subbed. Midfield and up front we struggled to create, with Gardyne having a quiet game. We didn’t give Walsh enough of the ball, as he looked our best bet. I agree with the comment above about Duku. He didn’t really do much of note and was hoping to be fouled most times he had the ball. For me, the jury is out. Not our finest day, and once again we look to be failing to get out of the group stages, but we need to use the next two games to sharpen up so we are ready for the league campaign.
  5. Penalties. We can’t complain as just not clinical enough today. Doran missed our best chance late on. A lot of my optimism from Tuesday has receded I’m afraid.
  6. Still work to do. Stirling have just hit post after a quick break with Cammy well beaten.
  7. 2-2. Sutherland into corner after nice build up.
  8. Disappointing 45. Stirling started flying and the early goal came from a free kick following a corner. Carson was injured in the build up but looks to have shaken it off. Since then we’ve had all the ball, but Stirling opened us up for their second. MacGregor got us back in it with a decent finish, then Welsh went off with what looked like a knock. Stirling look much better than Peterhead, and this is a bigger test than perhaps expected. We are not playing as well as on Tuesday and have spurned a few decent chances. We are not getting Walsh on the ball at all, similarly Gardyne. Our defence does not seem as organised or composed as on Tuesday despite being the same four starters. We need to watch Stirling on the break as they are pacy, but I still feel we can win this. The next goal is vital.
  9. Good finish by MacGregor after patient build up. We can win this. Carson really struggling after that early knock.
  10. That wasn’t in the script! 0-1. Direct free kick after foul by MacGregor. They’ve started on the front foot. We were down to 10 when the foul was committed as Carson had a heavy knock. He’s back on though.
  11. At the ground, looking forward to this one on a sunny afternoon. Cammy MacKay, MacGregor and Gardyne in for Ridgers, McAlear and Doran: https://mobile.twitter.com/ICTFC/status/1416385338893811712/photo/1
  12. The wind could make conditions interesting this afternoon.
  13. Preview by the club: https://ictfc.com/match-preview-stirling-albion-h Deas back in training. Mckay and McDonald getting close to being able to train. Encouraging that Dodds is wanting us to qualify from the group as we have not seen it as anything but pre-season in recent years.
  14. Anyone know if the Cove game is being streamed? I see County are unable to field a team again tomorrow so Dundee have been awarded a 3-0 win.
  15. Nice to see the club continuing this. Hopefully none of the players volunteer to abseil! https://ictfc.com/highland-hospice-named-as-inverness-caledonian-thistle-football-club-charity-partner-for-the-new-season
  16. A pretty comprehensive report by the club: https://ictfc.com/match-report-ictfc-2-0-peterhead-13-07-2021

  18. HT 1-0 FT 3-0 ICT Duku Stirling Mackin
  19. GA123 means you have ticket 123 of general allocation. Seats in use are marked with a tick, and there are singles, pairs and threes from what I could see. I’d also recommend getting there reasonably early so you can pick a decent seat. That worked for me and later arrivals ended up in the sections in the corners after searching in vain for better seats.
  20. He had a quiet game and I wasn’t surprised when he was subbed. A couple of loose passes, but nothing too serious. Very early days and I’m sure he will become an asset when he settles in and has game time under his belt. It will be interesting to see what starting line up becomes our first picks. We have Welsh, Allardice, McAlear, MacGregor and possibly Carson competing for two places. A good problem to have! I was really encouraged last night. If we had better finishing, it could have been 5 or 6. The POTY thread shows how strong our performance was. When I voted just now, 7 different players had been selected as our top player on the night. I was happy with Andy Bannerman on the tannoy. He had to make the safety and covid announcements so shouldn’t be criticised for that, whilst he spoke clearly and audibly. And apologies to all that I sparked all the posts about the virus after my comment about full time. The game was worthy of dominating this thread.
  21. I seem to have sparked a debate. I am double vaccinated and not vulnerable, and was happy to follow the directions given. My point was that there was no order at full time. I’ve no issues with those leaving just before the whistle, but when the whistle blew there should have been guidance as to which fans should leave first, as happened at the games before Christmas. Tonight, despite the announcements, it was a free for all. I chose to wait, as many others did, until the rush subsided. But let’s not let this debate overshadow the game, and a very encouraging performance and deserved win.
  22. At the Dundee game at Christmas, the exit was coordinated with Stewards at the bottom of each set of stairs. Tonight there were only 3 or 4 Stewards in the whole stand. If they are to control people leaving, there need to be enough to have a system that works. The problem was that some fans were leaving as the whistle blew and others just followed them. Human nature kicked in, but it could and should have been avoided. Getting back to the match itself, Duku was subbed due to an injury he got in a challenge. Hopefully it is not serious.
  23. Enjoyed that. Very dominant and two early goals in the second half secured the win. A couple of thoughts driving home. Broadfoot and Fyffe swapped centre half roles at half time. The whole defence clearly had confidence in Fyffe which was good to see. We looked stronger down the right with Carson and Walsh than down the left with Harper and Doran, but then Doran turned up with his goal! A word for Sutherland. He put a real shift in and didn’t give Peterhead a minute. MOM for me was actually Welsh. He was pulling the strings in midfield. A very encouraging start and we still have Deas, McDonald and Mckay who have not featured so far. Roll on Saturday. Sorry to end on a low point, but the club and stewards need to get a grip of full time. The announcements were clear to stay in your seats until told to leave, but they were ignored by many and there were very few stewards who could not control things. It needs sorted for Saturday.
