Play Offs
It looks unlikely that Brora will make the play off decider against Brechin after losing the first leg against Kelty 2-0 at home. What about Falkirk? They have totally imploded, losing 5 of their last 6, and missed the League 1 play offs, being pipped for fourth by Montrose, who join Airdrie and Cove in the race for the Championship. Elgin are still in the running after beating Queens Park to squeeze into the League 2 play offs.

Dan Mackay Easter road bound
I am sorry to see Mackay move on, but his performances over the last couple of months inevitably attracted attention, and I wish him well for the future, except in any games against us. It sounds like we have done a good deal, and it would have been tragic had we lost him for nothing next summer. Hopefully it inspires our other youngsters to knuckle down and make a name for themselves, just like Mackay has done, as have Harper and MacGregor have.

Official PotY
It’s always interesting who the players vote for, and it can be based on a mix of how they have performed on a d off the park. It indicates that Toddy and Allardice are popular within the squad.

Ex ICT Players Score
Only one I’ve noticed today is Jordan White for County.

Home to Hamilton on the 12th and away to Motherwell on the 16th. Hamilton play Kilmarnock, the other team in the mix, on the 16th. It could go down to the wire but if County beat Hamilton, Highland derbies sadly look unlikely next season.

The club’s report on the game: https://ictfc.com/match-report-ictfc-2-2-ayr-utd Sounds like Deas was the player unfairly (?) judged to have conceded the penalty.

Summer rebuild thread
To get bigger challenges in pre-season games will probably need us to travel, so cost may be an issue. We played Fleetwood, a club close to my heart as I lived near Blackpool for a number of years as they were climbing through the league structure, so possibly a mini tour playing the likes of Carlisle, Barrow, Morecambe, Fleetwood and Blackpool? It would need sponsorship to cover the travel and accommodation costs, but could be good for building team spirit etc. Sadly I doubt we could find a way of affording it.

Well said Lizi!!

Thank you Neil
And we have a lot of positives to look forward to. We have the nucleus of a decent squad, a Manager (Robbo) who wants to be with us and, hopefully, will be firing on all cylinders after the challenges of this season.

Nothing at stake for us and it showed, particularly in the second half. Looking back, we had 12 points in our first 9 games and we ended with 36 points from the 27 games. That sums it up. Inconsistent, but we dealt with a lot and ended up better than we expected two months ago. And it blew my chances on Gringo’s NPL big style! Lets put it behind us and look forward to next season. What do we do for the next 71 days??

We are looking like a team that is safe. This is a game we should be winning comfortably, but with nothing at stake for us, we are not firing on all cylinders. Could still go either way, but as Ayr are safe with a draw, it may peter out in the last few minutes. Welsh commentators’ man of the match. I agree with that.

2-2. Ayr had been pressing but not our best defending. Doran on for Mackay. I hope Doofer Dad’s prediction of 3-2 turns out to be right, but Ayr looking the more likely at the moment.

Great chance for Sutherland there but well off the mark. Lyall now replacing Sutherland.

MacGregor fouled in box. Penalty. Welsh to take it.

We started well and deserved our lead. We’ve bossed possession and passed pretty well but not created much. Toddy has had a couple of efforts but out of luck so far. Ayr have been poor and not looking like a team battling relegation. They maybe got lucky with the penalty but as a result it is 1-1. Our goal was excellent with great vision by Welsh. I thought it was MacGregor who scored as did the commentators but I see the club website is saying Mackay, as are the BBC. Not the best game, with Welsh and Allan the best for us so far.

1-1. Penalty. All our players protested and it looked soft. At least one booked for protesting, possibly Carson.

Not a great surprise after his recent performances. Hopefully he knows he will develop better getting game time with us. As an aside, the BBC have wrongly credited the goal to Mackay.

MacGregor 1-0! Great play with Welsh picking him out and a cool finish.
