  1. Some interesting comments which I largely agree with. I’ve been a fan of Sutherland, but he’s not a target man, which our recent long ball game is requiring him to be. He’s been most effective playing off the main striker, although he can fill one of the wide roles also, and I like his work rate. I’ve also said I’d like to see MacGregor in the No 10 role but with either of them, we need to get away from always playing long balls. We are not equipped for that, even when Duku is playing. We are at our best when we move the ball quickly, but we seldom do that. For next week, unless we have brought anyone in, I’d like to see MacGregor start supporting Mckay. McAlear deserves a start and we could do with Welsh’s ability to keep the ball so he should start if fully fit. The wide positions are a concern. Harper is learning the role and has promise, but Walsh was a disappointment today. It may be worth playing Carson in the wide right role. A big week for the management team and squad as our four rivals are playing each other, so we need to sort ourselves out and get three points against Queen of the South.
  2. We were shocking for 80 minutes and didn’t deserve anything from that game. We were second to every ball and could not keep it when we had it. Our midfield misfired badly, particularly in the first half, and it was no surprise when Carson was hooked. The only ones getting pass marks from me are Ridgers, particularly for the save at 1-1, Mckay and McAlear. We are having more off days than on days, and need to get a grip. Thankfully our rivals are also misfiring but we can’t expect that to continue. We need a creative player to give Mckay the chances we know he will take, as we created very little today. However, under the circumstances a point gained, which we now need to capitalise on.
  3. Too late to help you, but yes, just seen it arrive at the stadium.
  4. Harper starting in place of Doran and a much stronger bench: https://mobile.twitter.com/ICTFC
  5. Queens Park v Peterhead is off due to a waterlogged pitch.
  6. It is confirmed that he is now at Montrose: https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/2887734/montrose-sign-michael-gardyne/ They are in the play off mix in League 1, so not impossible they could get promoted. We could also get them in the Challenge Cup.
  7. Confirmed this afternoon and reported here: https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/inverness-caledonian-thistle/3823761/midfielder-anthony-mcdonald-joins-edinburgh-city-after-leaving-caley-thistle/
  8. Thanks for that. Just a minor point: McDonald was a signed player rather than being on loan, but his contract came to an end.
  9. I wasn’t expecting this: Anthony McDonald has left the club: https://ictfc.com/anthony-mcdonald-leaves-ictfc I had high hopes when he joined a year ago, but injuries hampered him last season and he has not really contributed this season. Hopefully we are on the cusp of bringing in a creative player given we have lost two wide players. Possibly also a chance for Cammy Harper to establish himself as he has looked promising when playing wide left.
  10. It’s now official: Gardyne has left the building: https://ictfc.com/club-statement-13
  11. In which case it hopefully releases us from any future wage costs and we can bring someone in. If it happens and we end up playing Dundee in the play offs, with Carson at right back what would the odds be on who gets the first yellow and red cards??
  12. Given they let him go in the summer, I’d be amazed if they wanted him back, particularly with his alleged extra curricular activities. I suspect he is either still in our payroll, remaining so until his contract expires, or he has had his contract paid up in full. Loan deals could be our only option, but I like the Philip Roberts suggestion. He looked good when here before. I see our priority as someone who can create chances for Mckay, Sutherland and Duku.
  13. Thanks for that. In fairness, an apology will appease me given RiG shared the link. I couldn’t get to the chat box to get any guidance from them, so would have missed out had it not been for RiG. Thanks pal!!
  14. I used the contact form in the Arbroath FC website but have not even had an acknowledgement yet. I will wait until tomorrow lunchtime, given the holidays, and then e-mail them.
  15. Garry Wood on target for Brechin today, but after being 3-0 up they lost 5-3 to Fraserburgh and ended up with only 9 players on the pitch.
  16. The club’s report on the match: https://ictfc.com/match-report-arbroath-0-0-ictfc-02-01-2022 It sounds like the 20 minutes I missed due to the livestream debacle were our best spell of the game! Anyone had a response from Arbroath about it and the refund requests?
  17. Donaldson is one of many who seemed to peak when with us and then see their career go backwards.
  18. Looking at our bench yesterday, we probably could have sought a postponement, as we only had 13 first team players, and only 1 was a goalkeeper. We had MacKay, Welsh, MacGregor, McAlear, McDonald and Jamieson missing altogether We don’t know which players in the squad had been affected by the virus or unable to train much. Reflecting on it and as a result of the recent challenges, I think the players were tasked with not losing and they achieved that. It was not pretty, in large part due to the conditions. We failed to use the wind to our advantage in the first half, but equally we stopped Arbroath using it to their advantage in the second. I don’t like seeing teams wasting time, and we were guilty of it yesterday, but it reflected the objective of not losing. With a fully fit squad, I’m sure we’d have been more positive in the second half. Hopefully we have a larger squad available for Saturday and they are all fully fit. On the downside, I see media speculation of the current restrictions continuing until the Spring. Hopefully that is just lazy reporting rather than anything with substance.
  19. Rory McAllister scored for Cove today.
  20. And a game in hand, which we must take advantage of by winning it! Another key match next weekend against Raith. They seem to be stumbling a bit too, so time to continue the good run we have against them!
  21. 0-0. Must admit that, with the conditions, I will take that given the pressure we were under in the second half. I missed half the first half due to the livestream problems, but we needed to score when we had the wind advantage. Raith drawing a bonus though.
  22. Hyde on for Walsh. A lucky escape a moment ago when Devine and Ridgers left the ball to each other and Arbroath came close.
