I think it is very sad that the lack of youth development and progression has been a key note of this season. Richie as a former development coach and charlie as current incumbent cannot use simple statements to deflect from an abject failure in the youth system or belief in the calibre of players. I hoped at the start of the season an internal managerial appointment would result in progression for jason brown, blair, alisdair and many others i couldnt name. If this has been the case and relegation happened i would have accepted this as a long term change of focus with a belief we were building something stronger like united in 80s or even hearts. Instead jason won a cup and man of the match with cove ,youth keeper has been standout with elgin and others have dissappeared.

Well david moyes should be available.....sunderland have 20 points from the same number of games down south and he is an experienced manager. Total misery in our house just now. No point in changing manager as its too late. Lets just get behind the players and hope. We have a proven goalscorer, we have stopped shipping goals but have absolutely no confidence and need to play people in their correct positions. Tremarco coming back is huge . Four wins post break and we are safe but how and where.

We are creating an extra 3 chances per game this season compared to last year and think we need to be posiyive about that . Just need that clinical finishing.
-
Maybe we could use the lease money now released from the budget to invest in a small safe standing area that could grow over time if fans fill it and atmosphere improves. That would be an improvement for the stadium supported by tullochs grant.

Doran as a striker? His penetration was great but finishing poor but love to see him as ten behind the fish rather thsn polworth.

Looked everywhere for some footage of the billy king incident on sunday. Watched sportscene but they really didnt give any impression of the first half superiority shown by caley. More shots more corners more throw ins than celtic in first half but looks like we were holding on. Would love to see the king incident again as from the stand it looked a definate foul. Just adds to how lucky celtic were or how poor the referee was. Anyone have the billy king penalty incident on you tube.?

We might need to pull back the celtic players like we did in that semi final. Any chance of getting that lady celtic fan to the game to see if she has forgiven us yet....

I love the games at nairn. Means i can go when on call. Love being able to stand on the grass too. Inverness is too far away from my work next week.

Think it has been a good window. We have some raw attacking pace and skill that needs coaching, that are under 21 internationals. We have 3 recognised strikers doombar, fisher, boden. I believe boden has quality, fisher shows promise and doombar is an unknown who in ten minutes looks direct and physical. We have cover for every position and strong development potential. I thought i would be desperate for doran and polworth to play but actually enjoying king, mulreany , boden ,and danger drapes as attacking options. I will enjoy watching the individuals develop and really hope sutherland and brown make their breakthrough this year.

[merged] : John Hughes Interview (BBC)
Moogthurso replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Caley Thistle
You can here it all on tonights sportsound. Hope ian auld can cycle fast when he comes to visit. -
Thought doran might be a natural number 10 once back and fully up to speed. That would then mean a rest for polworth or tansey with draper dropping back. After seeing draper and doombar yesterday sit in that position not so sure he would be better but would mean tansey and polworth could be 'rested' until form more consistent. As for josh his knee injury was still under revovery last week so central cover is very short.

l understand that he needs games and this will help his development but thought he might be needed with josh and kevin injuries. I believe ali and him have a real chance of making' it after seeing 4 preseason games. Any opinion or how long it will take Aaron Doran to get back to first team level. ?

Overall good result. Think polworth was poor and looked lacking in confidence. The number of chances created was great and watching the match was exciting and genuine entertainment. Richie throwing on the dogs at the end to worry the St Johnstone defence was great but could half done with being 15 min earlier. Real hope this could be an exciting season.

Watched thus. Feel uts a great piece of positive communication and interaction with fans. Hope they try something similar after first quarter of season.

Who? I prefer the anticipation that it could be shinnie. Its like waiting for xmas and even if i get ken instead of action man i will enjoy the wait more than the event.

Ill be there on call though

Little game for everyone to predict some key performances for the season. League goals scored last year 54. League clean sheets last year 9. My prediction is Goals scored 69 Clean sheets 14

Really dont find the idea of king billy or any of the other glasgow crap funny. One of the reasons i support caley thistle is to get away from that rubbish and enjoy songs about bridges and castles.
-
Really enjoying the preseason games. Some of the youngsters look good. I think we have reasonable strength in depth in most areas especially if we get doran and mcnaughton. We should only be positive and support the team when there is no real cause to be otherwise.

Looking at macnaughtons style and vision could he be back up for draper and tansey as well. That would allow one of them to move further forward?
