  1. I'll be coming from Cambridge. (provided I manage to get tickets)
  2. If he goes (and I hope he doesn't) then there are other coaches available; BBC News reports that Pep Guardiola is looking for a return to management.
  3. I have a young lady to keep me company during the walking. I'm writing about it at http://www.hittingthehills.co.uk, but I'll try and say hello in here when I reach Inverness, I might need some company in a pub once I there :D
  4. Can anyone recommend any good (read cheap) B&Bs in Inverness? I'm finally up that way, and once again it's during a time when ICT aren't playing. I'll be about on the 5th/6th September (hopefully). I'm walking 380 miles around Scotland to raise money for my Boxing Club, starting in Milngavie on the 25th August and ending up in Aberdeen on the 15th September (and hopefully able to get a couple of tickets to the Dundee Utd game on the 17th before I head back south!). Pub recommendations for the Lithuania game are also acceptable :D

  6. Celtic Rangers Dundee United Hearts Hibs Motherwell St Johnstone Hamilton ICT Aberdeen Kilmarnock St Mirren
  7. Down here in Cambridge I've had lots of comments on both my black away shirt (with all the names on it), and last years white away shirt. I must admit the black away shirt is looking a bit tatty now :( I'm still waiting for a home shirt that I'd actually wear.
  8. If results go our way on saturday (shown here as a Dundee loss and County draw): ICT - P34 - 67pts. Possible maximum is 73pts DFC - P33 - 57pts. Possible maximum is 66pts RC. - P31 - 50pts. Possible maximum is 65pts. A Dundee draw and a County win would leave both able to get 67pts, so although we'd only need a point to win it, or just not concede a silly amount of goals in the remaining games the title wouldn't be wrapped up this weekend, although it could be over with before we play again. ICT - P34 - 67pts. Possible maximum is 73pts DFC - P33 - 58pts. Possible maximum is 67pts RC. - P31 - 52pts. Possible maximum is 67pts. Still have to beat Dunfermline first though for either of those scenarios to count. Worst case scenario is this: ICT - P34 - 64pts. Possible maximum is 70pts DFC - P33 - 60pts. Possible maximum is 69pts RC. - P31 - 52pts. Possible maximum is 67pts. Hope that helps (and also by unlurking I haven't jinxed this weekend!).
  9. I think it's a shame to see Zander, Vigurs and Mihadjuks released, but I can't help but still feel positive that things are happening NOW and we're not *****-footing around with decisions like this in the middle of July. I'm sure if Butcher/the board knew they could get rid of some of the less impressive big earners who are under contract here, and perhaps even getting a transfer fee for them, then some of the players going would be able to have been offered a decent amount to stay. I'd rather we lose players this season and stay financially stable than to offer new contracts on the premise that "we'll bounce straight back up" and upon failing to do so finding ourselves in the same situation next year but with a far worse bank balance.
  10. Damn I was still on a high from a Rangers result before that goal. Keeping my fingers crossed for an equaliser though. Stuck on a train and forgot my headphones so can't even listen to the commentary!
  11. A couple of bottles of buckie perhaps :thumb04:
  12. I second the ICT Monkey idea. All in favour...
  13. To be honest I really wasn't a big fan of the previous version of caleythistleonline. It has always been the forum here that keeps me coming back (although I am mostly in lurker mode!). However, couldn't read through this post without saying congrats to those responsible for the changes seen recently to the site (I've never seen Joomla! look so good!), making this a very professional and easy to use website that really does seem to be light years ahead of most other football sites.

  15. Linky Link Morgan speaking to the beeb: "I certainly think I can play in the SPL. I've played a few games for Inverness, but circumstances dictated that I was frozen out. "But there are no hard feelings. Inverness have been a great club for me, but hopefully I can kick-start my career with Kilmarnock."

    England Job

I'd love the job *grins* I can already name my first team 11: P. Robinson W. Brown J.Lescott P. Neville W. Bridge S. Wright-Phillips F. Lampard S.Parker S. Gerrard S. Downing E. Heskey Following McClaren's obvious tactical nous England are famous for playing well in a 4-5-1 and Gerrard and Lampard play excellent football together :) All the players have been picked for the international squad so they should be up to the task. I fully expect as the new England manager for us to enter a home nations tournament where the referees are all hand picked english premiership referees, the media will expect us to win, as obviously no other team in the home nations has a single player better than the likes of the almighty Emile Heskey. We will in fact finish second to bottom just above Wales, who will lose against england after a frank lampard free kick goes in after 4 deflections in the 96th minute in the final game of the tournament. My reign as England manager will come to an end in the 2010 world cup (qualifying due despite once again being in the easiest qualifying grou... *cough* group of death!) where England get out of the group stages amongst much optimism only to lose on penalties in the quarter finals. I will, however, be gracious enough not to quit in order to pick up my ?2.5m compensation for making a pish of english dreams. Luckily my contacts in the FA and FIFA will furnish me with a ticket to watch the Scotland France final :021: hmm I think I'd make an ace england manager :002:
  20. Congrats on getting a ticket and getting to the game :) It's hopefully going to by my first Scotland game too. I should have a ticket on its way to me; an early, and most awesome, christmas present :). It's going to take me 8.5 hours to get up to Glasgow, I've got nowhere to stay and 8.5 hours on the way back down south on Sunday. But it's going to be worth it. Ironically I cannae afford to buy anyone a christmas present now! For anyone still after a ticket the Tartan Army forum and the gumtree.com might be worth trying, although it depends how much you consider a reasonable price for a ticket.
  21. ... and continuing to flog a dead horse; why don't we start a petition to bring Brown back :023:
  22. I'm still awaiting news on my shirt :( sent an e-mail out on Friday and still waiting for an acknowledgment and/or the shirt to pop through the the mailbox. Anyone know the correct e-mail address/person to contact regarding this?
  23. That was the deciding factor for me to wear the top (when I get it!) rather than frame it.
  24. i have to agree with RichieKass. Living down south I've not heard much in the way of anti-Scots sentiment down here, perhaps the north of england is different - there is a big difference between attitudes of those from the south and those from the north. Being a Scot in England certainly hasn't hindered many of the lecturers I know. Most the people I know hope Scotland do well in the sport, and wish us well. I do tend to grit my teeth and not suggest that I'll be jumping up and down when England lose. I know one person that got very upset when I mentioned that I wasn't rooting for England and tried to explain the general feelings the Scots, Welsh and Irish have about England! It is true, however, that a lot of the people down here are certainly very ignorant of scottish culture, history and that scotland IS in most ways a seperate country. Then again these same people don't understand there are differences between themselves and the Welsh, Cornish or even Geordies, Scouse and Yorkshiremen so it really is down to ignorance rather than anti-scots sentiment. In fact a lot of them don't even really realise that the Republic of Ireland is a completely seperate country! (As a side note they also tend to think anyone from Scotland supports either Rangers or Celtic) In regards to the choice of match - Say you were organising the matches for the football tomorrow night, and you can put Ukraine vs Italy on the main channel, or your other choice is England vs Russia ... would you rather see a match that impacts your team, or a meaningless match between two teams you don't particular care about. Not to mention that the Republic of Ireland and the Scotland matches were pretty much a complete waste of time as a spectacle, and both of those groups only really get interesting for the final 2 games of the group. I can't stand the attitude of the English media, the constant references to '66, etc, but I've seen welsh and scots commentary every bit as biased. I don't expect any different. I generally turn the commentary off and listen to something different And lets face it, look through parliament... the English may have control of the media, but they're certainly aware who's running the show! (again this not some something that is really all that resented, unless you're purposefully trying to stir up a politics debate with some English people and purposefully mention it. it seems to me that most the people here aren't all that clued up about politics apart from at election time anyway and I knew one person who voted for one party because he preferred their colour and badge!) Generally I feel the English media is so bad BECAUSE england has no real identity. It's a shame, but they only identity they can even feign is being insufferable when it comes to sport. I really can't stand the general attitude of the English or the English media when it comes to sport, for example the delight in crushing smaller countries into oblivion - which hasn't happend much often :D. But I also think far to many people attribute to malice what should really be attributed to stupidity and ignorance. At the end of the day we're lumbered with not only the arrogance, but also the ignorance of the South East based media for the foreseeable future. p.s. on the banknotes thing - it's down to ignorance rather than anti-scots. Unless of course eastern europeans, for example, are anti scots too? there are plenty of times when I've had comments about using scottish banknotes down south which haven't been from an englishman. Some people just don't realise that Scotland has different notes. And if you're responsible for what goes in and comes out of the till would you really accept notes you've never seen before? Some places I shop accept euros too, others don't, for me it tends to be pot luck. p.p.p join the welsh, the northern irish, and the north of england on the programme selection issue.

    ICT vs Scotland

Or look at it another way: Scotland winning the the Euros or the World cup OR Caley Thistle winning the SPL or Champions League. As I live down south Scotland achieving anything would be great response to all the 1966 crap.
