May Not Be As Bad As We Think
From now on I stay out of this particular debate other than to point out this. Two or three keep saying 'this was common knowledge weeks ago' and 'the club should of informed us weeks ago'. How long is 'weeks ago'? I realise time can fly and time can go slow but only four weeks ago we were still in the SPL and with a chance of staying in it. Right after the last game George Fraser announced that they had plans to get us back up but that various things would need to be done and various people would need to be spoken to. Personally I think they have done well to get their new structure in place in such a short period.

Brian Kerr Offski?
OK Alex, i'll correct you,Callum Mellvile is not in the building trade but is involved in your world ,him and his brother own Cosalt marine supplies to the oil and gas industries. He is currently negotiating with John Bennet a united director (who came over the road to be on the Dens board for a short period and assisted financially to help us out of the mire) to purchase back Dens. Thanks. I did read that he was a Dons fan and a friend of Milne. I also read something about the Tannadice link with Dens but couldn't understand that one.

How about you go onto the BBC site. Print out the list and from that make your own super calendar using MS Publisher.

Brian Kerr Offski?
Correct me if I'm wrong here but is this 'random investor' not someone big in the building trade who is also a supporter of Aberdeen and good friends with Stuart Milne. And is he not, at the minute, in negotiations with a number of parties, including Dundee United, about taking full ownership of Dens Stadium. Mmmmmmmmmmm wonder how many houses could be fitted onto that site.

May Not Be As Bad As We Think
I dont think it would have been right or just to produce this statement weeks ago. People had to be spoken to. Positions and laws of employment adhered to. Yes there was a plan in place if relegated but it would have been very wrong to publisize that plan before those affected by it were informed. We cant afford to run a U-19 squad next season so I can understand letting a couple of coaches go. Danny, apparantly, has chosen to leave to pastures new and was not pushed out.

Setanta (merged)
EPL have terminated the license to allow Setanta to show the pre-agreed matches for next season due to them failing to pay last months ?30m installment. Dire news for SPL I'd think.

Does Anyone Actually....
We were alway within our means but I dont think we were on a particularly strong footing. What I would use that three million for is to get a decent squad together, tied on decent length deals, get a system in place that would see a marked increase in ticket sales over the next few years. Promotions, school visits, free tickets to kids etc. Improve the infrastructure of the catering and corporate services. Never be in a position where we need to promote hospitality but have a waiting list of people wanting to experience the experience and wanting to come back for more. Promote the use of the Kingsmill suite every day. Lunches etc. St Johnston do lunches every weekday at McDairmid and its always fully booked. Were I in charge I'd be looking down all those lines with my 3m. Though chances are the nearest I'll ever get to 3m is wrapping xmas presents.

Disillusioned Or Not? (merged)
I thought the support at the final league game was magnificent... Can't see how any more could have been asked of them. Yep, I agree. Such a shame they couldn't show the same enthusiasm and committment for all other home games bar the filth.

Lee Cox signing for ICT
Not really an insult, more a fact. No its no........there's quite a few I'd love in Inverness if the offer was forthcoming. He could well be a Stokes or a Black but lets hope he ain't a McDonald.

Yeah, why dont we just tell him where to go and that he should take the support of his company with him. Get real. What company is that then Alex? I understand he is still involved with Cairngorm Windows. A company who advertise at TCS

May Not Be As Bad As We Think
Reading THIS STATEMENT on the official site perhaps things are a little more positive than fans are making out on a number of different threads. Danny has left, and I wish him all the best for the future, but there are enough others in place to continue his work. People are taking paycuts and George Fraser sounds very positive about the new structure.

A 3000 gate for a SC QF which, had the vocals and the masses been there, may have got us a win and a bigger cut of prize fund etc. versus 6400 gate against the same team for a relegation battle is the support I refer to. The every week league support has averaged the same this season as it did in our first full season at TCS but I'll bet there have been more posts on here about negative comments to players and no atmosphere etc. this season then ever before. In fact this is probably the first season ever where the club felt the need to make a public appeal for fans to get behind the team at games.

6 or 7 million Dont think the club would be valued at that much My guess is it would take about 2m to buy out the shareholdings, a further 2m to buy the stadium rights and an initial investment of 3m to get the club back on a strong footing. So 7m is probably pretty close to the requirement.

I believe Butcher and co have as good a chance as any other manager in europe of taking us back up, considering the resources we have at the moment. I fully understand and agree with the sentiments on communication and admitting where things have gone wrong. The club have made a fair few mistakes in the last season. So have the support. Will supporters hold their hands up and admit they could have done more to get behind the team and to boost the bankbook. As for our current situation, part of me is quite glad we have been relegated. At the moment there is huge uncertainty about the SPL. It is still possible that Setanta could go to the wall and no other monies come into the league in the short term. There are three or four clubs, who went out and spent on long term contracts, very worried about how they will fund thier committments. There's Celtic calling for reducing the SPL to ten, with two up two down, which will make it even harder for most to stay in it. Maybe the SFL should break away completely, invite ten from SPL to join and negotiate better deals for all clubs.

Marius Niculae Update
A lot of people out there would like to know where he gets his information from. Underneath the giant toad stool at the bottom of Dingly Dell would be my guess.... I dont profess to get information from anyone. As I said, 'it is my understanding'. An understanding based on comments made in conversation with a person or persons with some close ties to the club. If my understanding of things is wrong then so be it. If I interprerate something to be different to how it was intended then I apologise. Like anyone else I am entitled to make my comments and views without being subjected to childish spat from the Johnboys of the land. As for the part about sell on clauses, on re-reading what I wrote I realise I should have inserted 'generally' between clauses and only and 'normally' between never and when. I will edit and correct to avoid further confusion.

Marius Niculae Update
My understanding is that Niculae came to us in the first place for a particular salary + a signing on fee of euro 250k for a two year deal. I also understand he requested a release clause to any team outside SPL. Furthermore I understand the negotiator of all this to be Alan Savage. My understanding of the present situation is that the club believe the signing on fee should be reduced by half because the contract was terminated at the request of Niculae and that the club do not believe they should be paying Niculaes cut of any transfer deal. Sell on clauses, generally, only ever happen when the concerned player is deemed to be an upcoming star....never, normally, when the player concerned is reaching the end of his stardom.

Brian Kerr Offski?
Yep! Lets all call Brian names before he's made any decisions. That should really help him decide. BBC say Dundee are closing in on him......not 'are signing him'. Brian himself would love to stay at Sneck but, at the age he's at, has to decide whether or not to take a one year deal at Inverness on a low salary or a three year deal at Dens on a better salary.

Boardroom Banter
Andrew I can agree with a lot you are saying and a lot that Charles is saying. I know for a fact people at the club read the forums, or if they dont thier families do, and I know they can be affected by some of the comments. Do you think the girls who work very hard to make the club shop work like some of the infantile comments being directed at them? Do Tabitha and Emma and all the others in the office who work extremely hard trying to bring money into the club like being referred to as un-professional? Constructive criticism is good, and to be encouraged, but some of what is written, by a minority of the posters on here, is nothing short of downright abuse. As for relegation and Div 1. I am looking forward to it. Football is more entertaining than SPL and we will be pitting our wits against teams who have all had a taste in the top league at some time. Be it SPL or old Div1. Bring it all on I say. 7/4 joint favourites with Scotbet to win the league. County 20/1 :024:

Crowds For Next Season
The average fanbase will be down. Simply because the OF gloryhunters wont be around. However, I see no reason why we wont be able to average close on 3000. It is very encouraging to hear from the club that sales to new supporters makes up 15% of the total so far.
