  1. Remember our first season in the SPL there was no setanta then (well i dont think there was). There was only scotsport if i can remember right. Surely the SPL dont have to rely on the money they would get from setanta? I know it will play a big part theses days with all this credit crunch and that. Yes there was. I was interviewed by Setanta outside Pittodrie when Brew joined us first time. When we were in div 1 there was also some money from ITV. They showed highlights on their Football First programme. SFL has no tv money this time and the Irn Bru deal is spread over 30 teams. Remember also it wouldn't be just the Setanta money we are losing but the Clydesdale bank as well. They are the SPL sponsors and would have provided us with a bit more than Barr's will.
  2. The one thing that the Falkirks and St Johnstons have over us is a better budget for next season so they can offer better terms than we can. Foran, Kerr etc are not under contract to anyone so are free to talk. Speaking for Brian only, he has really enjoyed his spell with us and would be convinced to stay if he was to be offered longer than a one year deal but, at his age, he has to consider his family and future. He doesn't have too many years left of playing time so has to look forward. We cant offer what he wants without going into the red, or is someone was to invest a large sum, and I dont think the shareholders of the club want to go down that route in the present climate. We have proved over five years that we cant build a sustainable fanbase so cutting back on staff and utilising other means of building a squad, i.e loan deals, lower wages etc, is the only way forward. Going back to Vigurs.....I dont know why he was allowed to go but I ask one question. Three years, three managers and only 21 starts. Why? Is there an underlying reason that the fans dont see?
  3. According to Courier there are targets being spoken to or earmarked for discussions when they return from holidays.
  4. Not as such but buy this season and, if we go back up, you'll get 10% of next seasons ticket.
  5. So long as the membership stays the same the prizes will also.
  6. That was 4 years ago. Going by that thinking we best include O'neil, Smith, Robertson, Brewster, Mowbrey, McLiesh, Levien, and however many Hearts managers.
  7. WeeDee's 29 now mun. :004:
  8. Big snog ready and waiting for ya! :016: :P :016: Great prices! Really pleased with all the kids incentives too! Mrs PB Getting married in a month and already excited by kids prices....................mmmmmmm :004:
  9. McGhee for Aberdeen Tango for Blackpool McGrain / Lennon for Tic Ian McCall for Well Yogi for Hibs Crunchie McAllister for Falkirk
  10. And Calderballs to come here? That would be interesting... I can't stand the guy but you can't argue with his track record. No. WGS has expresssed an interest in this post. I have it on good authority from a board member. wats wgs? Wee Gordon Strachan aka ginger minger aka Chesney
  11. That will be you staying on at school now until you're at least 21! At least she's prepared to buy.
  12. The other answer to all this is for 50 of you to get together and organize your own bus. Trouble is if one or two decide not to go then someone else ends up with the shortfall.
  13. Alex MacLeod replied to Snaarf's topic in Caley Thistle
Thats very true. get it right and they could be playing SPL again the following season clad in red and blue. :P
  14. No we're not Livi..........and the whole point of this is to make sure we never become Livi. reality is always depressing. Don I think that is an excellent suggestion and I'd be up for it if it meant a wee p!ss-up afterwards.
  15. I agree that there is a need for a manager. It just seems to me that Commercial manager and Chief Exec should maybe be one job. Good to know about the last part of your post Don.
  16. Dont know how folks can get all worked up about this at the moment. We dont have a team yet let alone an idea of tactics. In factwe couldn't even put together a decent formation with what we have Esson Tokely, Duff, Munro, McGuire, Hastings Gillespie, Duncan, Imrie Barrowman, Rooney Actually, looking at that maybe it would work.
  17. The DoF was paid an emolument of ?50k last year. This was 'supposedly' in recognition of his services over the previous four years when he done the job for nothing. As well as playing staff there may well be cuts in the backroom. I ask will we really need a Chief Executive and a Commercial Manager? Will we continue with a Head of Youth Development? There are staff members lower down the pecking order who are maybe fearful of losing their job. Those are the people who carry out the day to day business. What does a CE and CM do?
  18. I thought the leauge ws being played later this year :P ! why does the SFL start so early if its only 36 games and it ends up finishing very early SFL clubs have an extra round in CIS cup and for some an extra round in Scottish cup. They also have Alba cup games. Normally the SFL starts a week earlier than SPL and finishes a week earlier. This season they finished three weeks earlier because of the number of National team breaks for the SPL. When last we won this cup we also won the league.
  19. Maybe he'll buy one for the Pars. Pars prices here
  20. I thought it was the CIS cup on the 1st august?? Or have they changed it when I wasn't looking? CIS cup games are traditionally mid-week affairs so I'd expect the first round games to be on 4th/5th Aug.
  21. Alba Cup Champions, League Cup Champions, Scottish Cup Champions, Div 1 Champions......loads to look forward to.
  22. Just doesn't have the same ring to it as 'Bell's Cup'
  23. The 'Trust' had nothing to do with Savage leaving.
  24. To be very fair even in the lower leagues we attracted some good players. Keogh, Mann, Bingham, Caff, Hissie, Brown to name but a few.
  25. I believe they also have to have the number on the shorts.
