  1. As I said on another thread those songs are dangerous for the club you all claim to support. Could ICT afford a heavy fine because of the behaviour of their 'loyal' fans. And, incidently, those songs are not anti-Celtic. They're anti-catholic. And if I was sitting in your area today I also would have made complaint to the police. You guys want support and encouragement from the rest of us. Sectarian bile is the wrong way to win that support.
  2. With a few of their squad involved in Internationals on wed and a vital Champions league game next tuesday I think the ginger'll be keeping a few of his important players on the bench. I understand IHE's reasons for 4-5-1 but I believe that if we keep possession and pass accurately a 4-4-2 is the way to go. For me, assuming Black and Proctor are unfit: Fraser Tokely, Mcguire, Munro, Hastings Cowie, McBain, Duncan, Imrie Barrowman, Rooney Cowie and Imrie have to run hard and stay wide, draw their central defenders out and strikers get into the spaces.
  3. Maybe a chant or two out of this tale. Took the liberty of highlighting a few words that apply. Though I dont think he,ll be playing. Its a long way back from Ozz. SCOTT McDONALD last night scoffed at suggestions he's fat and vowed to stuff the words of his critics down their throats. The Celtic striker is hungry to banish the jibes surrounding his weight by piling on the goals. McDonald devoured opponents last term and tucked away 31 goals to help Gordon Strachan's team to the SPL title. This season, he has started more slowly, with a groin injury hindering the Australian's chances. Criticism followed and boss Strachan recently made moves to defend the striker. He compared his star to Paul Gascoigne with an insistence that talk of sturdy body strength during good times switches to fatty jibes in the leaner moments. But McDonald insists he doesn't need defending and made his point with a sparkling goal in Celtic's 4-0 rout of Hamilton Accies 10 days ago before lifting his jersey to show off his belly. The 25-year-old is back in his homeland preparing for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Qatar. He said: "I didn't take too kindly to suggestions I was overweight. It's a load of nonsense. But it's something that inspires you to go out there and chuck it back at them. "My fitness hasn't been up to scratch but people have to realise that, when you've been out for three to four weeks with a groin injury and you had played only two games at the start of the season before that, you haven't had much game time. "I can assure you everything is fine, my weight is the same as what it was last season when I was scoring and I'll continue to work hard to get fitter. "Hopefully, that will get me back on top of my game and scoring goals for my club and country." McDonald would love to score for the Socceroos because he has failed to net in nine internationals. He said: "If called upon, I can do a job and it would be nice finally to get my first goal for my country. "It's been a while in the waiting and I don't really want to wait too much longer." I would think there could be a good opportunity here. With players on international duty tomorrow and a Euro game next tuesday he could field a weaker team. Think I'll have a tenner on a 2-0 home win.
  4. They wear four leaf clovers on their breast And green and white across their chest Its Caley 2 and Celtic nil They swallow down a bitter pill
  5. Agree K. Thats the way you find the odd gem. Though a lot of triallists come through the door that dont make the grade.
  6. Triallists come and go. Have we ever given a contract to one?
  7. Very fast right winger........mmmmmmmmmmm
  8. Bullsh1t. The casual movement in Scotland is an 80's phenomena. Where in my post do I mention Scotland? Disputedly the casuals started in Liverpool in 77. Aberdeen were the first Scottish faction. DC says 80, I thought 82 or 83
  9. Lets look at Burley's quote: "Kris is disappointed not to play but this is your country you're talking about," Burley said. "I've never had a cross word with Kris. They come in, stay at five-star hotels, in this day and age they have massive wages. "How much do you care? You don't need to like everybody. This is your country. "Okay, he didn't get on but the only way Kris Boyd is going to get in the team is playing regular, showing what he can do, coming to the squad and looking lively and bright and look better than the other strikers. That's how you get in the team. "You have got to show that passion and if you don't want to show it, you make that decision that you want to step out, fine. "We have big games coming up, people might think we are out of it but we're not, we are in second position. "We need people wanting to fight for the cause, go to war for the country. Roll your sleeves up and go for it." The bold paragraph says to me Kris Boyd didn't put the effort in on the training ground which is where he should have done the talking. Not after he wasn't picked. "fight for the cause, go to war for the country. Roll your sleeves up and go for it." If he isn't puting the effort in, or isn't showing the passion in training, hell mend him.
  10. Barry knows that if he keeps doing what he's doing he'll get another six months. IAN BLACK in this weeks Courier
  11. He should try being more of a player and less of a big headed git. Sorry but I've no sympathy for him. If he isn't playing regular at club level why should he think he's got a right to be in the National squad. There are plenty other's who'd love just to be part of the squad never mind actually playing.
  12. Your right. There has been violence between opposing teams ever since the game was invented mostly between players and officials but sometimes spilling into the terracing as well. There wasn't indiscriminate hooliganism and violence, aimed at anyone in the vicinity, until the advent of casuals. I stopped going to games in the late 70's when it became unsafe to walk in the streets on a saturday because of pitched battles between rival factions of casuals. And many many others did as well.
  13. Please read the reply on this subject in Boardroom Banter especially the last paragraph. My reading into it is that the club and stewards carried out a bit of an experiment to ascertain how things went and that they are happy with the outcome and, so long as people dont try and take the p, will be more lenient. So guys and girls this is a chance to show we are all responsible people and lets make some noise.
  14. Way back in them dark and dismal days Scarlet the record attendances at OF stadia were Parkhead 92000+, Ibrox 118,000+. as someone else said times have changed, people have changed. Prior to the advent of the casuals and football hooliganism many more people went to the game. Kids got free if they could be lifted over the barrier. Fathers duty was to take the boys, and his wee carry out, of to the match on a saturday. Mother and the girls went shopping. Those fathers stopped going when the troubles broke out. Go into a pub at lunch time on match day and your lucky if there's a dozen in. A few years ago you wouldn't get in the door. Football attendances are down all over the country and the only way things are going to change is if we can get back to the days of the game being a saturday entertainment.
  15. Its my experience that its mostly Celtic and Rangers fans who fill the stadium on these occassions.
  16. Typical Scottish football...........lump it up and hope for the best
  17. lizi wants to wait till all the results are in to see how many places we've gained by beating the tic.
  18. By that reckoning everyone, including you, is a part time fan.
  19. Sorted it for you Jamie
  20. It would maybe surprise you the number of females who do attend TCS.
  21. Who was that? Zadi is 6' 2"....pedantic I know
  22. U mean absolutely nothing to me you thorn :thumb04: Please refrain from personal abuse.
  23. i didnt realise that 100 Scottish caps was seen as some seal of quality. Silly me! Before making sarcastic replies SMEE please note: Knowhere on this thread will you find a comment or viewpoint of mine on the qualities, or otherwise, of Darren Fletcher. I read a few of the papers today and noted that all the pundits are saying that a certain Darren Fletcher is one of the best players ever to pull on a Scotland shirt and that he has the potential to beat Dalglish's record of 100 caps. I then read through this thread and am left wondering if there's two darren fletchers.
  24. We have never sold out for Celtic
  25. D_B_S, do you actually have anything half good to say about any of our squad or do you just get your kicks from slagging of any and every player?
