Peterhead V Berwick & others
RiG, why dont you just admit that no matter what Rory does you'll always find something negative to say about the lad. And while your pondering that just remember that he gets paid to play football. You dont.

ICT -V- Rangers : matchday thread
One person who could have maybe made a difference from the centre of midfield today wasn't even on the team sheet....Richie Hart.

Police and Stewards
Two questions to answer here. 1. Did any of the Rangers fans actually cause offence? 2. Would we have made a record attendance had they not been there? We cant have our cake and eat it. The club needs the gate reciepts to survive. There are not enough ICT fans to fill the seats so they're sold to opposition. I dont like it any more than anyone else but I am a realist. Bums on seats make revenue. I'm also old enough to remember the days before segregation. The days when there was great banter all around the ground.

Bank Balance
To be fair Harry these are the things that keep us afloat. There are costs to go to games. There are costs to stage games. Too many of the games at home are under-subscribed so other monies have to be found to subsidise them. Whether theres 3000 or 7000 we need to pay the same policing and security costs and those are probably the biggest part of the matchday budget. I'm sure that if we can establish ourselves over the next three or four years the crowds will increase and we will be in a position to utilise the profits from selling players to better advantage. Until then its frugal budgeting to keep us above water.

HUN SMILEYMOMETER
I'd have maybe hooked McBain and left Patti on. But your assessments are pretty good Johndo even if I think Blackie was the top man today.

4 hours to kill...
Me, I got up at 9 a.m. Coffee and fag. Shower and dressed. Left house 10.15a.m. Filling station for fuel and of to the match. How I love to make the effort to get there and show support for my team. Unlike the creator of this thread :023: :tic01:

ICT -V- Rangers : matchday thread
Just home after a pretty horrendous journey both directions. So many nutters on the roads nowadays. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see anyone but Aileen was nights last night and tonight so it was up and down with no time to socialise. Rangers first goal would have stood had Cousin not tried to toe-poke it in. He was offside but had he moved out instead of seeking the glory the goal would have stood. Was a pity really because I think we would have fought that little bit harder to get the equaliser. My personal view is that we played really well and were unlucky to concede at the death. The one fault I seen was that we didn't capitalise down the left. Patti was getting into some good positions and screaming for service but it didnt come. We really need to utilise the width more, make the opponent come to us and break up there defence before crossing in. Too many times we crossed inside from the halfway line when we had no chance of breaking through. We still need to work on our passing, especially Duncan and McBain but all in all I came back down the road happy to have seen a good game. I think everything went right as far as team selaction and substitution went. Though I wonder whether bringing on Bayne or Wyness at thge same time as Barry would have produced that little bit more. Changing to 4-4-2 for thew last 20 mins could have been the answer. MoM for me would have to be Blackie. He ran his socks of, won his fair share of tackles and done his absolute utmost to try and create something. A lapse of at the end allowed for their goal but no matter. We showed we can mix it with the best.

Ref Tomorrow
Seen Charlie perform before and he's a good, fair ref. Wouldn't have any worries about him. Lets hope tomorrow's not his bad day. With luck that'll go to the diving Darcheville early on in the game

Surprised that the story seems exclusive to the sun but a good article where he also talks about his fight to overcome his indicipline on the pitch. Might try and scan it later

Ian Black Car Crash
Thought there would have been some mention here about the accident Blackie was involved in the other day. He skidded on ice on his way back up the road from visiting family in Edinburgh and wrote of his car. Glad he appears ok and hope he's able to play sunday.

Mystery Investors
My impression is nothing to do with how the guy made his money but more about the fact he didn't do much research on either us or Elgin. He has money and thinks if he flashes it he can get control of a football team. It doesn't seem to matter which team it is but it seems he wants a north one. Either that or he thinks northerners will just lie down and let him walk over us. Mr McGregor, The team you think is not going anywhere is an established mid table team in the top league in Scotland, having got there in a ten year period from Highland league football. We operate within our budget and in the last two seasons made a profit. Who's going to fill your 15000 seat stadium? Even if it does have a roof. Messrs Sutherland, Catto and Savage have done us proud, as have others before them, and will continue to do so

whats the crack with rankin?
1. The club never put any price on Rankin. They did say they'd be looking for more than we paid Ross C. That could be anything from ?65k to infinite. 2. Anyone who wishes to buy a new property would normally sell the existing one first. Someone finds out that Rankin has sold a house so they embellish a story. 3. What I've read in the papers and on news websites over the last few days is speculation about transfers and bids. Nothing more. Niether ICT or any of the other clubs involved have been directly quoted as to the facts. 4. Anyone who believes what they read on P & B needs their head seen to. Whisper and rumour becomes fact so easily on there. Bids are being made for Rankin. The club doesn't want to lose him so will, rightly so, hold out until the offer they cant refuse comes in. Rankin is under contract to perform to the best of his ability and will do so. He's a professional.
