  1. Honest opinion..........not enough good quality players, budget not good enough to attract the better quality. Only 24 to choose from and even then 6 injured. Some even trying to play through the pain barrier to make up the numbers. And maybe there all so p!ssed of by the abuse they get, both on here and on the park, week in week out that they cant be ersed any more. Of course bad management will be the No 1 reason. Why? (1) A lot of people just want to say "I told you so". (2) Thats always the first thing people blame. Paul le Guen was the most hated person among the Ibrox faithful in his first three months. Now hes a national hero and will likely soon be awarded some doctorate from the University of football no alls.

  11. I actually remember when that scoreline caused a severe dose of the tongue-ties for the BBC pools reader.
  12. The advertisers aren't interested, so much, in the number of people in a stadium. What they are interested in is the coverage they get for their money. Our games are televised, either directly or via the internet, to a worldwide audience. Thats what attracts the money.
  13. If you watch premiership games you will see that, often, the winger will pass the ball down the line to the same side striker, who has gone towards the corner, then run inside and pick up the pass back and, either have a go, or pass inside to the opposite striker, who should hopefully be in a good position. Andy Gray frequently points this sort of move out when analysing a game.

  15. Lot more to it than that lad. Marketing is about selling the club to potential investors, sponsors etc. Its about getting big companies to take note and spend their advertising budgets on us. Its about establishing and promoting a return for the expected investment. Its about marketing the brand 'ICT'. In this day of modern technology, with worldwide links via television, internet etc it is very possible to market the brand further afield than Ness Motors or Cairngorm Windows. Get the brand recognised further afield and potential advertisers spend more cash. Celtic, Rangers, Man Utd, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real madrid, none of them are major corporations. They are, however, very large businesses. Why???? Because they all got their marketing strategies right. Those points you mention are all geared towards getting a few more attendees at matches and that is something that is needed but, even if we could fill our stadium every week, there still wouldnt be enough income to compete successfully, year in year out, at the top level. I'm not for one minute suggesting we become one of the aforementioned teams but if we have any ambitions for european football then we need to market ourselves to a high standard. I know nothing about the guy mentioned so cant comment on his abilities but just to give the guy a little support and with reference to insiders comments, BP, a multi national company that makes vast profits each year has vast borrowings as well. All companies borrow. So long as they are able to pay the interest then they can profit by the borrowing.
  16. It does say "injury caused in a challenge with Ian Black". Remembering back to the incident, I'm sure the ref was about to book Lasley before he realiseed the injury was a bad one. Heres hoping he makes a good recovery. Nobody wants to see players suffer in such a way.
  17. DUFC's training facilities are a public park on the outskirts of Dundee. At least we have a fort as our backdrop, not a load o'hooses. A lot of the fans making comment against CC on this forum, although they may have dropped the Rangers / Celtic tags, still have the mentallity....if we dont win every game we're sh!te and need a new manager........grow up people and look at the real world.
  18. In answer to the oil revenue question. Some of the operating countries with interests in the North Sea have their head offices in USA and Canada. They still pay revenue to the country who's territorial waters they operate in. i.e UK, Norway. The majority of UK sector oil platforms and some gas producers would, in an independant Scotland, be within Scottish territorial waters so would pay revenue to a Scottish treasurey. Large companies relocate all the time depending on what incentives they get from the countries they are in. This country of ours is very good at attracting new business. I dont see that changing any. The parent company of a few oil companies have their co-orporate headquarters in London but also have offices in Aberdeen for their North Sea operations. That wont change. As I said most companies are American or Canadian and have their head office in their own country but also have their operating offices in Aberdeen. ICT-away, your questions are very valid and shouldn't anger anyone. Sadly those who are in control of the country at present find it difficult to answer them truthfully.

  20. I wont comment on dargos workrate or ability to score but I would say that he needs good service. To me Bayne is the more likely to score from set piece crosses into the box. Dargo needs the ball on the ground. If the midfield cant get it together and pass the ball about, creating opportunities for Dargo, but persist in lobbing high balls up the park then puting someone whos a bit bigger than Dargs on could give us the slight chance of scoring. Unfortunately, when the midfield is playing like that we cant hook them all so CC has to try and make the best of the way they are playing. If we could get our guys, from defence through to midfield, to pass the ball about on the ground we would create a lot more opportunities for Dargo to score. Sadly they tend to lose the plot too many times and any gameplan goes out the window. Perhaps we should even look at changing the formation from the start. Three up front.

  23. Sandy, I know where your coming from but I believe things will get back on track. We're going through a goal drought at the minute. Why? God knows. The same backbone players played yesterday as have been playing since the split last season so whats gone wrong recently. As for gates and with reference to the teams you mentioned. yes their gates may be about equivalent to ours but they are all central belt based. An area with a far greater proportion of industry and commerce where companies will pay way over what we can command for sponsorship and advertising rights.
