Not good news for Stranraer FC

Featured Replies

Hope the same doesn't come to pass for other Scottish teams but I fear it will in the present financial climate.

BBC - Stranraer 50/50 to survive

Not good news for Stranraer - it puts things into perspective....

Yeah i heard there chairman on BBC Radio5 live tonight and he basically was the most depressing man i have heard and he seems like he is reisgned to the fact the club will go under

This is where league restructuring needs to come in. Teams like Albion Rovers, Alloa, Stenhousemouir etc etc are well served by both professionals and junior teams, whereas Stranraer is much more a community club. The people of Stranraer don't have the option of going elsewhere easily. Teams like these should be a priority.

Hate hearing about these things, hopefully they'll pull through. It's worrying times for a good number of SFL clubs now.

"We're only really paying the players' wages, but the wage bill is the actual killer at the moment - it's about ?250,000 each year,"

and to think some players in the top leagues are earning that in a week truely shows how mad the football buisness is. I truely hope they pull through but in the current finacial crisis it will not be easy. As it's a 'community' team maybe their local community (council?) should step in and help out.
