Appeals procedure

Celtic have now withdrawn their appeal against Van Dykes red card. The ban would have made him miss the game against us but now misses game at Kilmarnock. Surely they have just chosen which game he missed. This is just a farce and another **** up with the SFA

This happens all the time - all clubs 'play the system' to meet their own ends. Immediately after our defeat by Dundee United, It was strongly suggested that we'd be looking to get at least one of the decisions rescinded. However, after the dust settled, and with the possible implications of appealing evident, we opted not to challenge the sendings-off, there-by enabling Watkins and Tansey to remain eligible for the League Cup Final. Sorry, Big G, there's no conspiracy theory here.

Not looking at a conspirisy, just stating that the proceedure is a joke. If I was trying a "they all hate us" thread I would have put it in the ICT forum. The point I am making is that the whole disaplinary system needs to be overhauled to stop all teams manipulating the system. Not all posts with a gripe are conspirisy theories unless you follow the Old Firm

They would be eligible anyway. If we appealed the hearing wouldnt be till after the final. If we dont their subsequent bans would be in Scottish Cup and not League Cup.

Would the panel not sit this Thursday, after the Hibs Game, hence if they lost the appeal they would be banned for the final. So p and j said today.

But what I cant understand is Celtic appealing van Dijk's red card, the appeal wasnt to be heard that week!!!!!!

The appeal hearing was scheduled for Thursday, so they would've been ineligible for the final had we lost the appeal. But as we're not appealing, the players will serve the first-part of their ban tomorrow against Hibs, with the second-part being next seasons 4th Round Scottish Cup tie.

SFA Appeals Process

1. Charge a fee, thereby discouraging appeals.

2. Does player play for Old Firm? If not, dismiss appeal out of hand.

3. Is is a blatant red card? If not, uphold the appeal and toss a coin. Heads = reduce to yellow card, Tails = rescind completely.

4. Schedule hearing so that player in questions is availalable for any important match. After hearing, toss a coin. Heads = reduce to yellow card, Tails = rescind completely.
