ICT v Montrose Oct2025

Halloween Trick or Treat

The Gable Endies come North on Halloween Saturday as we head into a spooktacular Matchday 12 in League1, where dookin for apples and guising for nuts will be the order of the day. The Caley Jags sit in second place with Montrose slipping up recently losing their last three games which has dropped them to third bottom of the League1 table and shipping ten goals in the process. We picked up a valuable three points at Peterhead last week after a couple of uninspiring performances to get back on track and sit just one point behind Stenhousemuir who face a testing visit to Palmerston and East Fife heading to cash strapped Hamilton Accies. All to play for!

The big question is: Will it be a Trick or a Treat... 💀👻🍒

Anyway, for me the best players were Chalmers, Savage and Allan.

Same here but still deciding what order.

Not much value in a North Stand ticket yesterday. First half it was all down the far end in front of the Mo’s 22 fans as we dominated. Looking forward to seeing us murdering them second half but after the goal we just weren’t in it.

That’s bad news as Billy has been having a good season. I hope it’s not as bad as is feared and he recovers quickly and fully.

However, Zimba is showing he has an eye for goal, and this could be the chance for Bavidge to be as influential as we all expected him to be.

It’s time for the depth of the squad to prove its worth!

By April many felt Billy was 'finished' then found his scoring touch, which he retained into the new season, Bavidge was a key part of us staying up this season, just needs to start ticking, and Zimba is a real find for this level. With Longstaff, Allen and Wotherspoon we have goals in the side. And Liam Sole too ..so not concerned, Billy gets a wee break and comes into his own for the Christmas/New Year period

Mantis agreed with me that on Saturday that home form is a worry! Last 2 home games were 39 shots, 18 on target and this produced 3 goals.

We can talk about teams coming here and playing tight, with a pretty much a defensive set-up, But we are still getting the shots in! So it's down to good goalkeeping or poor finishing.

Zimba being a box player will score now and then but he's not a 20 or 25 goal a season man, I think Bavidge should start alongside Chaka with Billy out for a while.

At this level i was expecting Longstaff, Allan, Wotherspoon etc to score more soming from deep but it's just not happening! However as long as we scrape one nil wins can we complain ? Just think if Montrose had a half decent striker on Saturday we could have been in real trouble.

It all feels very quiet and flat at home compared to awaydays.

I wonder if that affects the players?

Just a thought ..

I think that's standard across all UK football - those who travel make themselves heard and create some atmosphere but at home games these people are more diluted.

Yes I get that but some in our home support seem very critical and I do wonder if the players are aware of it?

Just an observation.
