Johnboy mentioned on another post, but I thought it worthy of its own thread, that we seem to have got team spirit back into the club. Hibs were IMO not a bad side. In the first half they gave us very little time on the ball and this lead to a few poor passes by us. But heads never went down, there was none of the moaning we have seen recently and I actually saw players applauding each other for attempts and apologising for poor passes.

The Defence and Mikey seem to be talking to each other at last and, as somebody else has mentioned, the team response to Marius's goals was evidence in itself.

We weren't perfect yesterday but we had spirit, guts and resiliance the like of which I have not seen for a long while.

.....which, in my book, has to be down to the manager!

From the outside looking in, "Team Spirit" has been fluctuating since Brewsters return, but over the piece it seems to have gone up more than down.

We saw the initial buzz that comes with any new manager away at Easter Road when we played some of the best football I have seen from us all season...unfortunately not reflected in the result.  We then seemed to go through a bit of a shaky period where Brewster was testing the squad, bringing a few in to line and screwing the nut in terms of fitness.  Add to that the fact that some players didn't know where they stood as Brewster was making his assessments and also that some others were sticking their nose in to Brewsters business at the stadium (something I feel has been sorted for now) and the period of unrest is probably understandable.

However for the last 3 games things have been very much on the up, both in terms of spirit and the willingness to dig in and grind out a result, even when the performances have perhaps not been the best.

Still think we have a bit to go, but many of the recent signs are positive and movement is being made in the right direction.

This is perplexing - we are beginning to agree with each other. Got to hand it to Brew - he is often a pig headed, arrogant sod but he does stick to his guns when it comes down to discipline. I would also say that he played 4-5-1 or 4-1-3-1-1 in his first spell but he got there this time becos of injuries and suspensions. There was a bitter taste left in the departure of CC which I felt was really noticeable - hopefully we have turned the corner.

Every game - waiting for Marius to score - then he does - the team spirit is great, every player rushes to him to celebrate and what happens?

Seconds before, I am handed a very hot cup of Bovril!  Cannot clap, cannot get to my feet, spill burning hot Bovril over my hand, but - who cares, Marius has scored. :clapping03:

However, I was able to celebrate his second goal in customary fashion!  and at "our" end too - Here's to the next of many more goals against whoever (please let it be 'tic) and many more shows of team spirit (so much for jealousy re wages!).  (Incidentally, note Pat Nevin's comments re Marius! - very positive and complimentary indeed, for our guy),

You should just watch the BBC highlights on the net if you can. The Scotsport programme wouldn't look out of place on an episode of Playdays.

I wonder how much of this team spirit is down to forthcoming contract talks with half the squad.
