  1. From the BBC Gossip page: Seriously?! You half expect the article to continue that they are also interested in his compatriots, striker Skor de Gaulle and goalkeeper Bloek de Schott.

  2. There was a great debate on Talk Sport yesterday about the demise of Scottish football and Andy Gray came up with the great point that there is some high standard Academy football coaching but the youngsters find that their paths to the first team can be blocked by average foreigners, journeymen, loan signings and experienced but jaded old pros. From an ICT perspective - especially this season - why havent we looked at spending most of our dough on an acknowledged centre forward - and saved money by regularly playing - or on the bench - the likes of Greig, Morrison,Shinnie, Ross and Sutherland. These boys should be the nucleus of our team - they are born and bred to have the desire to play for ICT - I feel that we have not had that feel of "togetherness" since the First Division wonder run. That may be what we miss through the loss of McBain, Golly, Duncan, Munro etc. - camaraderie, togethrness and an inner desire to wear and die fer the shirt. No disrespect to some of the players currently ensconsed in our starting X1 but how many are here to get experience and put themselves in the shop window with a view of going to a higher level. I would rather play one of the youngsters than a six month loanee or any of the categories raised by Andy Gray. And as Alex said - bring back the Under 21 league and boundary the number of non scots that can play in it.

  3. Oh Chick profit of doom how can ye write such despicable gloom the Scots are a nation full of surprise we may sink for a whiley but soon we will rise when all is but lost like the bird we will soar let Hampden and Stadia round the world hear our roar from out of the ashes and into the skies our footballing nation will once more arise

  4. Yeah, cause St Mirren really suffered by bringing in Charlie Adam on loan from Rangers! That's a crazy comment Ten4 - how can you say someone is a "big time charlie" simply because they play for the champions of Scotland. Would you turn down Steve Davis as well if he falls out of favour? I'd be happy to have Rangers and Celtic rejects like Cillian Sheridan or Charlie Adam. It all depends on what they can do for ICT, not what jersey they once put on in Glasgow.

  5. Here's a list of our chairmen past and present ..... John ('Jock') McDonald 1994/95 --- selected during merger talks given his 21 year history of involvement with the SFA, he lasted until the end of our first season in May 1995 when Stadium Director Dougie McGilvray took over. McGilvray was chairman from May 95 to January 2000 when the board was "restructured" with David Sutherland taking over. Sutherland's first stint as chairman lasted from January 2000 to April 2002 when the board resigned en-masse after shareholders rejected a 'debenture issue' designed to raise ?150K. I was at that meeting, and from my recollection, the opposition to the issue was led by a former chairman and another major shareholder who never sought to be chairman at any point. The issue was resolved later in the month when Tullochs increased their holdings in the club to 51% for ?500K. when this was ratified by other shareholders, Ken Mackie was chosen (by Tullochs) to be chairman. Part of the deal with Tulloch (ie. Sutherland) was that Tulloch would be allowed to appoint 3 directors including the chairman for a period of five years - or at least that is my recollection of it. Ken Mackie was the first "Tulloch" chairman and was in the post from May 2002 to November 2005. At the AGM in 2005, shareholders voted to allow the club to revert to a private company allowing Tulloch's to increase their holdings by ploughing in another ?400K and David Sutherland came back as Chairman for the second time. David Sutherland insisted at the time that he did not really want to be in the chair and he only stayed there for a short time ... until August 2006. He relinquished the post in favour of Alan Savage who was coming in and making an investment in the club. At the time, Sutherland said he would like to transfer the Tulloch holdings to a new Inverness Sports Trust and top it up with a further 200K donation. the club made a pre-tax profit of ?220K that season ! It should also be noted that this was also the season where the Members' Club (with its 10% voting rights) was dissolved and the voting rights passed onto the Supporters' Trust. Savage was chairman from Aug 2006 to April 2008 when he stood down with immediate effect. It was well publicised that the chairman and "major shareholders" did not see eye to eye on certain things and after he stood down, our current Chairman George Fraser was selected as his replacement. I think I have got the potted history mostly correct, and from writing this down, I think I am also correct in saying that the shareholders have never actually "elected" a chairman. We have either rubber-stamped a replacement at an AGM when the current chairman of the time has stood down down, or we have "ratified" the choice of the board at an AGM if the chairman has moved on during the rest of the year ... we have never actually had a choice between different candidates. Having said that, I think for the most part we have had the right chairman in place at the right time for most of our history .... we may not have agreed with all their actions at the time, but looking back with hindsight does give you some perspective. JM helped ease our entry into the league DM navigated the treacherous waters of getting the stadium built DS1 helped reduce our debt and make it manageable first time round KM was quietly effective and extremely professional during our promotion wrangle with the SPL/Partick DS2 finished the job of making our debt go away in his second stint AS brought a fresh pair of eyes to the job and some good ideas GF has been - for the most part - in the background as others at the club get on with things. Supported manager in push for instant promotion back to SPL after relegation. so who next ............ and what will they bring to the table.

  6. No thanks . If he cant force his way into the weakest Rankers squad in years he aint good enough for ICT . Oh yes because we can be that selective about our players?! He's obviously got some talent to have been kept on to 22 years of age, and it wasn't all that long ago Smith put him in at right back against Celtic (though his game was ruined by injury early on) Particularly when Rangers are fairly strong in the right back area and have an abundance of forwards who cant get in the team (James Beattie, David Healy). To say that because he hasn't forced himself into the league champions 1st team is hardly a slate on the player really, even if Rangers are 'weak'. They are sitting at the top of the table right now so they cant be all that bad. We are near the bottom (though hopefully not for long), henceforth it stands to reason that he might, just might, be capable of playing at our level. No?

  8. Think you need to take a closer look at the GERS reports for the last few years to see who is subsidising who. It's always better to take your information and form opinion from the source instead of relying on how one or other side spins it before putting it to press. There is also the matter of taxpayers in Scotland paying more to subsidise expensive education for future fast food retail managers. If we must payroll the free education for universities, instead of a gap year which many take introduce a community service program where they can make a genuine difference to their communities doing whatever their chosen career path dictates. Yngwie, sign here. Not a fan of university education then? Last time I looked tax payers in Scotland pay their tax to Westminster at the same rate as the English, Welsh and Northern Irish and from there Westminster decide on a budget for each countries government. If the tax went straight to Holyrood I would agree with your point but it doesn't.

  9. Looks to me as if the Bank is subsidising the Football Club here to the tune of a ?30 million overdraft!!!

  10. I think the fundamental problem lies with the EU ruling. I find it absurd that countries can't fix their own charges to their own students and charge any outsiders a fee to study there. This is just another example of the manner in which national autonomy has been diluted by the EU and We British have to dance to the tune of Johnny Foreigner. University eduaction is a devolved power so if the Scottish Parliament wants to make that free to Scottish residents then it is perfectly entitled to do so. To enable this, it presumably diverts funding from other public services for which they get their block grant. It is equally entitled to do that. But what I object to is people from the outside jumping on the bandwagon and expecting to get tuition for nothing as well - and having the backing of Brussels. But I also expect that Salmond and his chums will regard this as another of these joint opportunities to make Scotland different and to stir up resentment south of the border which they value so much in pursuit of their only real policy.

  12. A bit of an own goal by ICT hosting this match on Friday night as its a kick in the teeth to Clachnacuddin who are playing Turriff Utd at the very same time We all know Clachs situation regarding money and there struggle to get punters through the turnstiles therefore this fixture should have been moved to a more suitable date They may well be legends but I won't be there as I will be going to Grant Street dougal
