  1. Auchinleck Talbot must be wondering what might have been! In the 3rd round, they were at Stranraer and leading 2-1 with around 10 mins to go. They then got a penalty resulting in a sending-off with Stranraer down to 10 men. If the Juniors had scored from the spot they'd have been 3-1 up against 10 men with only about 9 minutes to see out. Of course, they missed it! Arguably would have been the best result for Junior football since their admission into the Scottish Cup if they'd pulled it off. However, Stranraer notched the equaliser with literally (in it's true sense of the meaning) the last kick and escaped from Ayrshire in the replay with a narrow 3-2 win.
  2. Point taken. Let's hope we're not their first big scalp of the season.
  3. Aye but questions should be asked - why did they only score 3 in round 2 of the league cup?
  4. I don't really understand how anyone can watch a game without having a preferred team. For English games I have a kind of Scottish factor points system amongst other reasons for supporting one team over another. Favouring teams in other SPL games usually hinges on benefit to ICT but I must admit the recent County Hibs game was a challenge-wasn't sure who I liked best. On the matter of changing teams I would hope that anyone relocating to the Highlands would want to bring their kids along to TCS rather than encourage them to support old firm etc. If you're raising your kids to support the local team its hard not to do so yourself. I guess the same applies elsewhere.
  5. Totally agree! How is it possible to 'support' more than one team at a time? It's illogical! The most anyone can support a team is 100%. That's a fact. If you have 'an English team' that's fine. But then you can't claim to be 100% behind ICT. There was a great 'catch-line' SKY Sports ran a few years ago aimed at youngsters regarding supporting a team - along the lines of, 'think carefully before you choose' because you'll never change when you become ingrained with your club! well, proper football fans don't never change allegiance! You're with a team for life. It's in your blood. Usually ingrained through family or upbringing. Changing colours is a crime! Particularly as it's usually always to teams currently doing well. Glory hunting, is the term! A team is more sacred than MARRIAGE! Hardcore fans stick with their team, regardless of their personal life. Marriages may come and go, but their team stays the same! Blokes will go through more marriages than teams! And folk laughed when Shankly said Football was more important than life or death! Anybody raving going on about their English team.....aaaagh!!! How? They are a football club who will be rivals to us if we meet. They'll have their own supporters. Why would you support the opposition? You can't be 100% for one team and a supporter of another. The arithmetic and logic dictates it's impossible.
  6. Great idea. Maybe some of the dissenters could go and speak to the man himself and put their concerns to him.
  7. They've scalped a couple of minnows though, can't remember their names
  8. I've never understood this whole "Who's your English team attitude?". It's always teams that win as well I've noticed - Manchester City "fans" have skyrocketed in the last few years, the same as Chelsea "fans" did before them - it was only about 10 years ago, Chelsea were on the same level as say, Everton or Swansea and certainly didn't have this huge, and predominantly younger, fanbase. You never meet someone who supports Dagenham and Redbridge out of the blue! If people move abroad and start watching their local team over there or something of that nature, then that's fair enough, but I can't understand people with a Spanish, Italian, German, Ugandan, Papua New Guinean etc. team as well at all. Seems so false.
  9. I'm sick of hearing Celtic's claim as having 'the best support in the world'! What does it actually mean? A club has its support and that's that. No one support is 'better' than another. Having more supporters doesn't naturally make that club's support better than any another! Perceived 'atmosphere' at grounds is also a poor gauge as again, that's usually down to the number of fans in attendance. How about arrests made at grounds? Don't think Celtic would fare so well on that count! But again, they've so many fans that there's obviously going to be more fans 'lifted'. A Man Utd supporter from Belfast who travels to Old Trafford once a season for his routine visit to 'keep-up' the pretence of being a fan is surely not a better supporter than an Aberdeen based Inverness CT fan who makes the trip home very second week to follow his team! There's simply no such thing as 'the best supporters'. Indeed, I've more time for guy who supports only one team, whether it be Wick, Montrose or Dunfermline than a bloke who has sympathies for Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and the obligatory 'wee' team, like Watford! These folk, for me aren't real football fans!
  10. I would be very surprised (horrified) if Rice got the job. At this level, we should be cherry picking some plum candidates, and/or from ICT past, present, and future. Rice, with no history with the club, would be taking the role as a handout from a pal, and that's not reason enough at this level, 3rd division stuff. He has got a lot of things to work out before he even thinks of getting back into a job of any sort. Can't see this as a goer at all.
