  1. Well, the Women's World Cup is over and we haven't had a thread for it on our football forum. That's a shame, so let me belatedly put it to rights. It is a shame that there is not a higher profile for the women's game because it can be pretty entertaining. There seems to me no reason why women should not be equally able to develop good ball skills or be able to spot a good ball and I am sure as the profile of the game increases and more young girls are inspired to take up the game, even more players with even better skills will emerge. The world cup has produced some really good moments and good goals as illustrated in the link below. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33398720 Where the game does have a significant difference to the men's game is the relative size of the keepers to the goals. A theme that comes through in the compilation is that when a shot is well placed, the keepers lack both the height and the leaping power to reach the ball. This should, in theory, increase the chances of a shot at goal being successful and therefore should encourage attempts at goal. The smaller stature of the women keepers must be equivalent to increasing the size of the goal in the men's game by about 15cm all round. Another difference has been significantly less foul play and gamesmanship (cheating) than we see in the men's game. And without getting into the England v Scotland thing, England's success in coming 3rd must be good for raising the profile of the women's game throughout the UK. The Women's World Cup has been a breath of fresh air and I look forward to seeing the game continuing to develop.

Would be a huge mistake not having it available before the home game against Astra IMO. Going to get a sell out at the stadium for a once in a lifetime (so far) game. Surely this is the best time to sell merchandise. As caleyboy said, it's about maximizing income, you'd think releasing it as early in the summer as possible would do this, especially off the back of the cup final win.

The same thing happened with Alloa. We didn't know about it until after he'd turned it down. Going back to what I said in my previous post. I think it's fair to assume that Brian Rice is now the de facto assistant manager. Would someone just up on a conveniently timed 'holiday' be in all the gear and shouting instructions? I don't think so. It's not like he wandered in and was sat in the stand.

  6. I'd be interested. I have to be in work on the Friday morning, so depending on what time you are leaving and providing I can get out of work early on the Thursday afternoon I be keen to get to the game.
  7. Antonio Reguero has got himself a move to Hibernian following his release from Ross County.

Sincerely hope Yogi has some irons in the fire regards a striker, if he waits another week to see if Hooper is up to scratch this may to late to organise anybody for the Astra games if they don't keep him.

It's just sheer profiteering from clubs..and all are guilty - preying on the gullibility of fans wanting the 'latest' look of their team. Some fans even buy the new kit even if, privately, they think it's 'bogging'! Changing strips every year or so is ridiculous We've had 14 different strips in our relatively short time! I don't feel obliged to 'keep up' with the latest top - indeed, I've only got 4 ICT tops (only 1 fits now!) I actually like to see 'retro' tops at games.

If we want to play with the best in the country we need to maximise income on every commercial angle. Yes it seems unfair on fans but wages have to be met etc etc so I,m not against a new home and away shirt each year as it's a personal choice if you want to buy.
