We have our own page : https://www.facebook.com/CaleyThistleOnline/ where all our articles and stories from here are promoted, and a few years ago we also toyed with the idea of a group instead of this site (went as far as creating a test group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/2497130873636709/) ... but decided as a lot of our users were not on that platform and it did not give us the structure or the content that we have had for the last 26 years that we would just continue as is .... Is there something specific that Facebook groups offer that we do not on CTO which you would like to see? I tend to find most FB groups (and forums for that matter) run for a few months/years until the admin(s) lose interest then it just stops and slowly decays .... This forum is lucky in that we have a critical mass of users who literally keep it ticking over whether I or other admins are actively posting or not. Always happy to hear new ideas for features or to point users to features they may not be aware we already have --- like blogs, clubs/groups, downloads, photo galleries etc etc etc .....

I'm a new member on here CT so thought I'd offer my 'newbie' perspective. I am on facebook & would certainly join the group but what I do observe is the interactive culture on FB has come across more confrontational in recent years rather than collaborative (in general) & trollers are increasingingly prevalent. I suppose the question is what would a FB group offer that CTO doesn't or can't already provide ? From what I see this is a positive forum. Anyway good luck if you go ahead.

OK, I have had good responses to my proposal and will happily concede defeat on the idea as its clear that this site is the preferred option Thanks for the responses and the post by you Scotty ;). I suppose, that's that then so mods, if you feel the need, close this thread ;).
  5. The lineup for the Jags was Sievwright, Fraser, B.Black, Cumming, Bremner, Milroy, A.Black, Newlands, Bruce, Drews aind MacLean. Subs Kenny Munro and Smith. Cumming was the player manager at this time.

I admire your efforts and enthusiasm Caley Tennis and wish you well but I am with IBM and Gringo on this. I am not on Facebook and have no interest in being so. This is my ICT online community and one that the recent crisis has prompted me to fully engage in again after a period of self imposed 'exclusion' . What unites us is far more important and valuable than any petty differences or grievances that may have preoccupied us in the past.

CTO has been my main forum for many years and will probably remain so until Scotty pulls the plug out.
  8. I didn't put the Jags as favourites to win the league in 1986-87 season, the were 8th the season before, but I was hoping that they could kick on to 3 or 4 in the league, but as the season progressed, they were playing some of the best football I had seen from a Jags team for some considerable time, and I saw them in every game, home and away in the league winning year. In fact, they went the whole league unbeaten, until the last game of the season when they fell to a home defeat to Peterhead. Some of the performances that season were breathtaking, and I put down to good recruitment. They had picked up Stevenson, Noble, Bain and Taylor and with a nucleus of already first team players of the calibre of Milroy, Black, Calder, and the emerging Charlie Christie, they had the makings of a really good side, and it came to a point that I couldn't see them getting beaten by anyone, I expected them to win every game. The 85 Scottish Cup defeat by Celtic wasn't the catalyst, but the round before when they beat Kilmarnock, when the Jags league form wasn't at its best, was maybe a sign of what they could do when they fired on all cylinders. My only regret is that I wish they could have gone on further with that group of players, but with injuries and some players leaving, it just wasn't to be. I thought that getting rid of Brian Black as manager was a very negative move, not just because he was an ex classmate of mine, but he deserved more time for bringing the title up the hill, but his replacement, Leishman, was the beginning of the end for the Jags. His recruitment was woeful and he got rid of some of our best players and didn't replace like for like.
  9. I have the Jags lineup but not the caley, or the scorers.
  10. Hewden's plant hire or something like that. Here's one to keep the jaggies happy. Expect a Photoshop-inspired, pyroclastic-laden effort from Johndo at a later date 😉 Edit - maybe Howden's hired out their plants too...
  11. These are some of the match reports of the last Jaggies game at Kingsmills. I took photos of every viewpoint of the ground that day, I still miss those days so much, and to this day, I get a tear in my eye wherever I pass where Kingsmills Park stood.
  12. Construction of Caley Stadium, April 1996: March 1999:
  13. Couple of shots since we're on the subject: Telford Street Park in 1991: And in 1996 a few weeks before the move, ICT v Alloa
  14. Here is my cherished last Jaggies programme. My son got all the players to sign it. The game, which went by in a flash, was for me quite numbing. I just tried to take in the fact that never again would I be able to attend my beloved Kingsmills Park.
