  1. Right Gregor. I’ve spent all day hanging about the royal infirmary and I’m still here... plus I hate posting on a phone so I’ll be brief and then I’m out ? i said I don’t get to many home games these days. I get to the away games though. A lot of this essay of yours is nothing to do with me, you’re just venting and you’re tarring me with the same brush as all the posters put together. I never boo players, especially not Polworth. It’s not a massive deal to me if Robbo plays two strikers but we haven’t got the players for a 4-4-2 as Polworth + A.N. Other (e.g.Trafford )would get overrun in CM. Then there’s possibly 3 at the back in a 3-5-2 which is another story. Your stats for Jordan seem to be heavily skewed by the hat trick against City. Apologies if not so, but it kind of proves my point. One or two posters above have made my points for me so I won’t repeat them. Anyway, this thread is just a circular argument, you obviously feel passionately about it but, as I said, I’m out.

  2. These stats are increasingly boring. Facts are simples. We have scored only 26 goals in 19 games which is less than every team above us (excluding Morton), while we have actually only conceded 22 which is less than several teams higher in the league. Goals win games and we dont have enough. Churning out the same stats in different formats for indivduals does little other than fail to address that Robbo has tried many player options and combinations yet has failed to find one that works. There is a clear lack of goals from other areas of the pitch - the midfield offers little and the defense aren't scoring at set pieces. We need creativity & goals from the middle of the park - perhaps then the strikers will contribute more, they dont have the ability to create for themselves which means we need to either alter how we play to get the best out of them.

  3. Actually, when we went 2 up top we scored 5 minutes later. The problem was how we then dropped back defending the lead rather than continuing to do what got us the goal. Having just put 2 up top, dropping back therefore made us more exposed in midfield. I also think White did OK with a very solid overall contribution to the team performance. Sometimes he drops back a fair bit to help with the defence and he made a lot of good contributions in the build up play. If he is played in that way, having 2 up front makes a lot of sense allowing for a more fluid system which can make it harder for defences to pick up.

  4. Have to agree with Gregor. If you only play one player up front and no genuine attacking midfielder, then, unless they are far too good for this division, there's going to be a lack of goals. Abandon this 4-2-3-1 formation. There's patently enough evidence that we dominate possession without penetration. Take a chance with two strikers. It's the only way to have a chance of scoring enough goals.

  5. I liked him. Was he not 6 goals from 12. Gregor get the stats out ?

  6. We started the season 4-4-2 and it was largely unsuccessful. Our better performances and results came when we were 4-5-1/4-2-3-1 whatever you want to call it. The issue is CM, Chalmers nor Trafford are strong enough to play in a two. Hence the need to sacrifice a striker and play with 3 in the middle. Personally from what I have seen, Oakley would be my number 1 choice. But perhaps a run of games for White will bear fruits. We are stuck with what we have by the looks of it. Hope he finds better/more performances/goals/stats soon. How long is Oakley out for btw?

  7. Gregor as much as you love Jordan the man love is obvious but he is the 11th best striker in the championship. As you love stats goal to mins played ratio of 5 goals in 1044 mins played which equates to 1 goal every 2.42 start. Oakley has 4 goals in 640 mins played in championship giving him a goal every 1.82 games. White has played a full 11.6 games with a 5 goal return Oakley 7.1 full games with 4 goal return. White playing a full 4.5 games more than Oakley scoring one more goal. You tell me who is the better striker in this league this season. Previous accolades at different clubs in different seasons with different players make no difference to the here and now.

  8. Totally disagree mate have a look at the other strikers in the league and look at their ratios and compare with ours , only Shankland Dobbie and McKay have better ratios of starts to goals . We have decent strikers , Why are you looking at the strikers to blame for yesterday as in your own words you said the next twenty minutes were going to be a nightmare. That is because you don’t have any faith in our defence to maintain the lead but you continue to blame the strikers who have just created and scored and excellent goal , that doesn’t make sense at all . When we went in front after going two up front with a well worked goal , that big donkey and traffic cone as some call him , having a very good assist and a very good finish from Walsh. But as in many times this season we proceed to lose two goals , that is what needs looked at as we can’t keep conceding two goals and expect to win games. The spotlight needs to be put on the defence but lots of fans like yourself keep blaming White especially, which is bizarre when he has a very good scoring ratio, and talking about missed chances and Totally overlooking the fact that we concede too many goals. Last week we lost the game and so many blamed the missed chances but forgot that the county keeper had a good few outstanding saves so much so he got man of the match. I think missed chances are sitters , and how many sitters did we miss in last two games but we have conceded 4 goals in last 2!games. Priority is to stop conceding goals especially 2 a game.

  9. Although during 2018 I didn't bother posting on a daily basis as goals were scored, I did update my spreadsheets of ex ICT goalscorers every two or three weeks. Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.
