Kenny Gillet
I agree. But take a look at this video. We may have an interesting weapon for free kicks just outside the penalty area. http://www.youmake.tv/video?id=8950 great strike! looks even better from the last camera angle, curl and power, not easily done. If he pops up with a few of those each season i'd be delighted

Rooney on cap standby
just had a look on the UEFA website, players are eligible for the competition if they were born on or after 1 Jan 1988

Celtic - out of Europe
im pretty sure it does isnt it only the 3rd round losers that go to the europa league? This is true LOLOLOLOL Snubs Barca for Celtic ha ha ha, cant help but laugh I think the co-efficient isnt affected cause Celtic were not seeded, may be wrong though

We also got beat by a team (Fleetwood) who last season were playing two leagues below Barnet in league two so i wouldnt write him off just yet. There are gems to be found in League 1/2, hopefully Terry has found one here

signing for next season
Whilst being a decent signing i think hes still under contract and therefore a fee would be required to get his signature. I think he would provide decent competition for Hayes while also providing cover for Rooney however i cant see us signing him unfortunately. Aberdeen also had a left back called Grant Basey on trial who is an U21 Welsh international, 6 Ft 2, left back who was at Charlton last year. Read somewhere online that hes a decent player so if he's unsuccesful at Aberdeen then would be happy to see him come up here for a trial/short term move to see how he gets on. I agree about Mackay-Steven, still hope he's give a chance to shine and that he is behind the worst of his injury problems

Trialist updates
Proctor has played at centre half in the past and i wouldnt be too worried at having him for cover if Munro, Tokely, Innes were unavaliable. He played at centre half for a spell in our last stint in the SPL. Seem to remember him playing excellently in the 3-2 game against Celtic and scoring a cracking header. he later got sent off for a last man tackle but the way i remember it was he had to make the tackle, on Scott Macdonald IIRC, following a team-mates mistake. Left back is the priority IMO There is an update in the highland news about trialists:

Trialist updates
...and after a wee look on Pie & Bovril, it seems the Dundee fans didn't rate his performance in the pre-season game he played in; saying he was rash in the tackle and had poor positional sense. He does have a nice video though: Gordon Gilbert EDIT: Even after just seeing his 'highlights', I think it is quite obvious that he is a 'clumsy' footballer... perhaps similar to LDZ? Sounds like you could be right about the LDZ comparison, this sound familiar to anyone: Quote from the Kaizer Chiefs website, here

Confidence running high
I think that due to the fact we had such a good season last year, we retained our best players, have taken in some new quality players and managed to knock a few goals in against Highland League opposition may have given us a bit too much confidence however i think saturdays defeat is exactly what we needed to keep our feet on the ground. Butcher will have drummed into the players about complacency and maintaining concentration and i think it was a valuable lesson for the team, hopefully it will serve as a reminder to us that we are not invincible and still need to work hard to win games.

Trialist updates
update on trialists from the P&J article here Slightly dissappointed if it is true that we are not going to offer Mckay-Steven a deal as i think he could be a useful player to have in the squad, cant see the harm in offering him a 6 month deal to see how he gets on, wouldnt have thought his wage demands would have been too high considering he is without a club

Confidence running high
Reduce the prices by 10/15% and have the cheapest gate price in the SPL. Family club. Value for the average family, all that jazz. I mean 29 bucks for the main stand for Celtic. I agree that pricing needs to be looked at, ?24 for a junior ticket in the main stand against Celtic, thats way too much if you ask me. I would say i'm more optimistic rather than confident just now about our chances this season, once we sign a left back and maybe another midfielder then i reckon i would be reasonably confident that we could get a placing of around 7-11th

new Home kit
To be fair i dont remember seeing any other club launch new kit yet. I know Hearts won't be available till 12th Aug. I didnt acutally mean launched as in for sale. When i said launch i meant preview or show what the strips will look like, at the very least i know the old firm, hearts, hibs, dundee united have all unveiled what their new strips will look like via a strip 'launch', it always seems that we are very late in doing the same
-
new Home kit
i would say im suprised about how late the strip release is but i'm not. Its seems part and parcel of using our current suplier that we are one of the last teams in the league to release our strips. Can only hope in the future that this is either rectified or we find a supplier that can deliver in good time
