  1. I would have to say that Russell was our best midfielder by a fair way yesterday. Black and Cowie were both very guilty for misplaced passes (not picking on them but this is a fact) and Rankin over elaborated at times.
  2. I understand that the club has received a significant number of enquiries over the past days regarding the availability of Marius for transfer. Whilst I am not aware of any actual offers being made, I understand that there is a real chance that Marius may not be with us come the end of January (which suggests that his contract has clauses which will allow him to move in certain circumstances or for a set price). I would hope that we can keep hold of him, however given his pedigree (and indeed the class shown yesterday) this may be a bit unlikely.
  3. Saying he had a nightmare is a bit harsh. His control and passing in the first 30mins was poor (but Cowie, Rankin and Black suffered the same problem till we got the first goal). He then came onto a bit of a game before tiring towards the. Remember that he is coming back from a hamstring injury and needs to gain match fitness back. Staying on the park instead of Marius (when we were 3-0 up) was of more value. Denzil is a player similar to Michael Owen in that they take time to get back into the swing of things after being injured. I actually thought that a few of the players looked a bit jaded towards the end (four games in the past two weeks taking its toll). Gretna tired much more however and this is again an example of the benefits of Brews fitness regime.
  4. If McGuire gets signed then Brew will not add further in this area. We also have Watt and Kerr as cover. It should be noted that Brew is on record as saying that he thinks Proctor's most natural position is in the centre of defense and he will not be surprised by the performance.
  5. The point is that we were playing against a relatively poor team. This led to complacency and a lack of cutting edge at some points. Even so we had good chances to add another 3 or 4 goals. I can't see how the second half performance can be said to be worse than the first half against Motherwell.
  6. Deuchar does not have the pace or the guile to be hugely successful in the SPL with the Gretna side. He is a natural finisher however and if Gretna could get the right players beside him I am sure that he will score his fair share. I thought that Proctor did very well today. There was the odd occasion where it was obvious that he has not played in this postion with Granty much (hesitation in a decision being made, etc). This is not his fault however and a few matches will give an improvement in the organisation and understanding. His additional height over McGuire was also helpful. In terms of his overall game he was miles ahead of Caff and I don't have any problems with him being allowed to head off on loan.
  7. A nice detour via Aberdeen to tire them out will suffice :023:
  8. I've just listened to the Charles Bannerman interview with CB on the BBC website (from earlier today). It sounds as though real money will have to be offered if Rankin is to be allowed to go. I suspect that it will be more than the ?65k which we paid for him.
  9. Yup, Johndo. :023: It is so pleasing to see such a balanced perspective on all our players this season :029:
  10. A rather low key first half where we started with Marius in an advanced midfield role and Bayne the lone stricker. We shaded it but put a lot of people to sleep (probably set a record for the number of corners won - only one decent delivery however). The second half was much better. Marius played far higher up the field in a more traditional 4-4-2. We could have won by a much greater score and some of the football was excellent particulary the pace of some of our attacks. Marius was excellent for all but the first half hour. Not sure how he missed the chance in the middle of the second half :024: Most payers played well but mentions must be made for Hastings, Duncan, Cowie and Marius. Bayne gave his usual shoift but it was clear that he misses a bit quality wise. Too many headed knock-ons into areas where we had no players. Lack of first tocuh, etc. That said, he does give his all.
  11. What? I don't think I can think of two strikers with such different styles. Go on - have a go. I bet you can :023:
  12. I was shocked when Brown quessed the right way to dive. From my recollection he used to dive in the opposite direction (in case he got hit by the ball I presume) :crazy07:
  13. All of the players put in a decent shift today. The fact that by the end of the game we forgot that we were down to ten men speaks volumes regarding the players fitness levels (which we had lost under CC) and work ethic. BBC pundits reckon that Pressley should have gone (in fact they noted that it was more of a goalscoring opportunity than Proctors foul) Also a mention for Mikey save which was world class :clapping03:
  14. JR has been given two weeks leave by Derry to think over the 'personal issues' which appear to relate to his Mrs. Does sound as though he will not be returning to Derry though
  15. I don't know how you can say that. It wasn't as though the player was standing clearly off-side, directly between the player shooting and the goalkeeper, with the ball hitting him square on :029: Whilst the officiating was not directly responsible for the defeat, the collective performance is completely unacceptable. I cannot recall any other game where Roy chased after officials - frustration at what was happening boiling over. As per usual the SFA will take no corrective action and just shrug their shoulders and move on (unlike south of the border where there would be some action).
  16. Sorry CaleyD, having just watched the highlights it is a clear punch.
  17. The same could be said of Pele and CC in their time at the club. The most common words in match reports over the past ten years have to be "substitute in the 84th min" (the first substitute that is) :003:
  18. RiG, I take your point, however I suspect that there will be 2 or 3 changes to keep things fresh. I suspect that Bayne will start (his physical presence works quite well against Aberdeen) plus a change to either or both the defense and midfield. Given the nature of the game I do not see any more than two or three changes (and I expect Aberdeen to make a similar number of changes). With Black being taken off injured I would suggest that he is the most likely one to be rested in the midfield and I think Proctor will feature in either RB or CB.
  19. Excellent result and a clean sheet as well :003:
  20. This is clearly a trick question :004: Flybe planes don't fly anywhere from Inverness. They just break down and sit on the stand :rotflmao:
  21. We have a defence :024:
  22. Several posters have correctly said that the Kingsmill Suite is not full for many of the games. What is lacking is corporate boxes and there remains some degree of demand for this side of things. Incorporating some more would be viable, however I would suggest completing the main stand and incorporating additional boxes in this way is more cost effective (it avoids having to service the West side of the ground as well as the main stand).
  23. CaleyD I have a couple of Vostro 400s in transit as we speak (the first time we have had Vostros). They have 2.33GHz Core 2 Duos with 1333MHz FSB and 4MB Cache 4GB DDR RAM 500GB SATA2 HD Same graphics card and monitor as your spec ?762 all in (including MS Office 07 SB) The other recent PCs are top end spec stuff at much higher costs
  24. Dell have made a big leap forwards in the last four to six months and now are providing PCs and Laptops at low prices which outperform HP, etc ? for ?. I almost changed our company supplier to HP due to the performance lag in Dells earlier this year. For anyone looking for Servers, I would still stay clear of Dell. There are alleged to be a lot of problems with reliability and compatability issues (we use IBM as the additional capital cost is ouwayed by the reduced risk of problems). Also, the number of problems we are experiencing with Vista are reducing greatly (although we are still specifying XP as standard)
  25. Given Brewster's insistence on fitness (not knocking it) I suspect that Deano will need to lose a few pounds before he gets a real chance (he just needs to ask Barry). He is getting a fair ribbing from his fellow players regarding his love handles (a real case of belly over belt) which in a professional football is unacceptable.
