stenhousemuir v ict
This team could be dangerous. They played very well in the last round and look physically fit and really pacy up front. One of the outstanding teams I saw on the post match videos..!

Adam Rooney
Just give him the ball and he should do just fine.

Is Butcher the Man for the Job?
One poster said that it would be difficult for a new Manager to come in and do well if the team was down. At what other time would we expect the Manager to do well other than when the team was down? When the team is doing well all the Manager surely needs to do is hold the fort until he is settled-in and then gradually make the changes that he thinks is required to continue the improvement? Terry needs support and a fair chance to try out all his ideas and Rome was not built ina day. For goodness sake let's all get behind HIM and the team and stop the moaning and groaning. Try focussing on the positive aspects surrounding the club and not the negative ones right now.

Arsenal Trialist - Philip Roberts
Very positive development. Obviously Terry is working hard behind the scenes to move things along. Any connection with a team of the calibre and reputation of Arsenal is a very positive and forward-looking move. Let's wish him the best of success, reagrdless of his spelling --ahem, show me a youngster nowadays who CAN spell and I will be surprised.

Small crowds? Little wonder!
General economic situation is also bound to have a bearing on the attendance. There just doesn't seem to be as much money around these days, due to higher prices of gasoline and food for example. If the spl stated that total goals scored would be the deciding factor in relegation and winning the league you would see an upsurge in attacking football I think and that , alone, should bring the fans back in since every team would be on the attack without fear of losing goals so much. After all, it's supposed to all about entertainment isn't it? Surely the SPL couds at least try it for one season?

ICT v Liverpool
You are not going to believe this but I was at that match in August 2008. I remember it well--Caley seemed to be running riot over these young lads. And it rea;lly was a night to remember The talk in the air was that their Manager (Coach?) was so upset that he was going to fine each of their players 300 pounds or some such sum of money. In fact the game was so one-sided that there was also some scepticism about whether or not their team effort was as genuinely poor as it turned out to be. i..e. It was a Testimonial for a well-thought of player, Barry, and one could not help wondering if a thumping score might have been arranged between the coaches so that the good crowd went away really happy. I have no idea what the real situation was but a 5-0 drubbing like that is unlikely to be easily forgotten by the team Liverpool sent up and by the very jubilant crowd at the end also. It was almost like a carnival feeling by the end of the match.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE ?
All I can grumble about is why does he not bring back HMS Sneck. Preparing that fine vessel for the battle, and revelling in it's subsequent triumphs brought about by it's doughty and skilful crew, was a great motivator . Why is it still in dry dock then? . Probably the cost of repairs...eh?

O my! What a tangled web we weave others to deceive. My Esperanto loving friend. In your case it is the words you use that are so unusual and high falooting that no one can understand them. I looked in the Oxford Angleterrre dictionary once to figure out one of them , and of course to eddicate masel egad and forsooth, and the computer voice attached to my edition said ..."er..go back to bed Scar-baby, there is no such word known to man in our archives". Talk aboot a put-down for an aspiring scribe. If I thought for one second of my precious time that you were not jesting Charles, I think I would flagillate myself for treading on your gown and mortar board and maybe your Golden Gucci shoes. Or reflect and genuflect. When I was at the Academy I used to hold the Rector, D J MacDonald, in some reverence and fear since he rarely appeared without either of the aforementioned appendages and his stern, masterly bearing was a warning to all malcontents and miscreants within the range of his vision that deviance from proppa conduct would not be tolerated. Do you have a stern visage in your class as well 'cos I fink youse could be daunting too. Me? Right now I am in sandles and sackcloth , oh Teach, and I hope you get a life in the VERY near future. P.S. And to that nice man who telt yese that she should not cheek yer Elders I can only add '' Imagine the cheek of it , right enuff , with me being 96 an' all and good on you son, you'll be a man before yer mither. Aye" Jest justing of course.

Whats the solution? What are you going to do?
Well, chaps and chapesses, I am pleased to add a positive note to my last post. Today I received a very nice email from Mr Cameron, apologising for the delay in acknowledging my letter to the club. Apparently he was on holiday when it arrived and the staff put it in the safe for safe-keeping until he arrived back. After that he was able to access it and, during a visit to Raigmore hospital with couple of the players to see a very sick young fan, he has made a beautiful gesture by inviting the very sick lad and his mother to be a guest of the club in a secluded private box at the next match at home, then to be shown the usual excellent club hospitality in the boardroom and to meet the players and so on. Whether the boy can be allowed out of the hospital to go to the game prior to his recovery, and then going off to Australia to join his father who has now emigrated there and awaits the safe arrival of his family, may be problematical but from all accounts he is ecstatic and elevated in spirit already. I think he may well be there on the day and I know from my own expereince of 4 years ago ,when I was treated equally-well upon a rare visit to the club, the memories will be with him for the rest of his life. You may take the boy away from the club but you can't take the club out of the boy's heart and memories. It would be nice if this uplifting little story could be printed by the local Courier so that all concerned in Inverness can see that the club's officials are indeed highly-motivated and do care about the young and the disadvantaged in the town . Anybody care to give the newspaper a call - it's certainly a newsworthy event? If the young man cannot get to the match then I have Mr Cameron's assurance that the club ..."will find a suitable candidate or candidates to ......take up the offer....and will et me know the outcome by email. I am very happy that all's well that ends well and that the club's attitude in general has beeen amply vindicated by this fine gesture . I do thank Kenny Cameron for his thoughtfulness in doing this and for advising me promptly of the club's thoughts and actions

Never give up, Never give in !
There you go. Another positive post from the highly motovated , thoughtful Jaggy one. All I have got to go on are the videos and from them things don't look half bad , I can truthfully say. Urgency, pace and fine passing not to mention excellent ball control. AND the team obviously knows which end of the park the opposing goal lies. In the MLS in North America, if I see one more non-urgent sideways pass made with a lacakdaiscal lack of determination (no pun intended) or one more languid pass back to the goalie I will quit watching the soccer --until the next time. C'mon what more can you want from an up and coming team?

County game
Charles..behave yourself and be nice now. It's surely obvious that what I meant was that CaleyThistle will roast County. But thank you for making it clear that my grammar is slipping along with my eyesight, being virtually blind now in the right eye--hence the awful spelling which accompanies the suspect choice of words. I'm gonna try harder, m' lud.If my Nortn American slang is O.K. with you, Teach.? Finally managed to order a keyboard with one inch keys from a company called Chester Creek in the U.S. Wamart does them in the U S but will not ship across the border to Canada and the Canadian Walmart, having a separate buyer, has chosen not to do them. As the world turns. A least I might now be able to avoid hitting two keys at once. Wheeee!

ICT on YOUTUBE
So you'rr the man, Davie? Great job I say. Really enjoying your technique--you get these lads to talk...eh? Absolutely is my favorite word too...... sums everything up in a flash.

County game
Judging by the way ICT are playing compared to County I think they are going to roast them. Ross Tokely, bless him, was not too fast on the ball--- showing on the UTube gig. But Grant Munro did quite well it seems. But Caley's speed and determination will out. In full flight he will be a hard man to stop .Man, on t he highlights that was a real run and no mistake from Sutherlamnd a couple of weeks ago. Pity he didn't score. What is he the new Tade? I watched all the SPL games on the UTube format recently and Ican tell yolu that yoir football is more exciting than in the MLS. There is not that much wrong with the speed and action of these teams i n the SPL. Mind you, theyse were highlights bgut it appeared as if they were all trying hard to turn it on and goalmouth incidents were frequent which is what the fans pay to see. Imagine this then....Vancouver played In Seattle just across the U S A border last Saturday and lost handily 2=0. There were 55,300 people there folks. What a crowd and what a buzz.Barry Robson was absent and Kenny Miller needs to pout more effort into it. True, he's not getting the service but if he doesn't do something to get that ball and prove to the fans that his signing was not a mistake then sooner than later the fans ar e going to become restive--he's on a 2-year contract. At this stage I'll say no more It may just be early days and maybe he neds a few more games to settle in and get fully fit. Sure hope so. The "caps have lost the last two games and don't look good in the forwards position at all.

HEARTS v ICT : 18/08/12
Well, you are right about the number of jersey pulls in the penalty box. In the North Americam MLS this has become some kind of disease--I am referring to the pulling of opposing players' jerseys in the box. Personally I think it is stifling innovative play and take a dim view of it. Strangely the refs over here rarely seem to either see it or award a penalty for it if they do.

Modest then. Once the theme of the Caley Thistle fightng spirit gets heard around the league then attendances will start to rise.......

Whats the solution? What are you going to do?
A month or so ago I sent a sum of money to the club addressed to Mr Cameron. I expressed the wish that they allocate seats to either disabled children or orphans in Inverness for the first game of the season. There were no other rrestrictive requirements. That was it. I rationalised in my mind that at this time the club really needed a financial boost and that doing this would achieve two purposes. a. Give these disadvantaged youngsters a chance, maybe the first chance they have ever had , to sit in the stand and see Caley Thistle first hand and maybe introduce a new dimension into their lives that might stimulate their emotions . b. By doing so, raise the club's profile in the town and suggest that they really are a family and people -orientated club with genuine feeling of compassion for such as these youngsters, The cheque in pounds was cashed, but so far I have not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement and I therefore have no idea whether my request was adopted or not. I am still going to be interested in the team but I can't help wondering if the new management , since George Fraser went, has got much of clue about P.R. -- or has it reached the stage, as in many modern companies nowadays it ppears, where the letters are opened by the receptionists who is the one who decides what has to be done about it , including whether a reply is merited or not-- meaning did the upper echelons of management even see my letter?

David Proctor - Edmonton FC
Och! Absolutely Scotty, I'll get onto Scarlet about that. He is so immersed in Scottish fitba the noo that I'll go easy on him though. He's taking his time mastering this North American version ---37 years is nit quite long enough for the wee man to forget his roots. Aye. Whay a guy---plump and red But sometimes something of a ned Maybe he's tired and needs his sleep I'll just pop up and put him to bed. Later on I'll slip in and take a peep And hope to hairoil that he's asleep When he nods off he doth relax, including his body And then it's like the bubble hath burst and he's like a flat balloon Man oh man, this heat is giving me a thirst for a wee toddy So I'll lightly leave and hit the toon. Cheers the noo to all and to you Oh mighty me, Scarlet's up and in the loo. Time to go 'cos he's on the po.

Ian Black
If Ian Black is the consummate professonal that he should be, there is not really a reason why he should not fit into the International Squad at any time. If he has consistently been training for years his body has become acclimatised to the rigors of same and his heart and his lungs will have adapted to this. That is what conditioning is all about isn't it? It's up to him as to whether he is willing to train hard continuously -- as a true professional would--or let himselrf go. Football is football and if he owes it to his team to play to the best of his ability and at the highest level of fitnesss he can maintain for his age. It's also up to the fitness trainers to ensure that he pulls his weight in the fitness department and I am quite confident that Rangers Newco will be anxious to ensure they win every game in a canter to make absolutelty sure that they move up the leagues quickly again. Unless , of course, he is an absolute idiot and looks upon his sojourn at his new club as a holiday bonus or something. In which case it won't be long before he is back to painting....

Craig Dargo
No one can say a player blighted his career and it was "a mistake", in retrospect. First of all no one can truly know all of the reasons whay a Player may leave any club and move on. Every move he makes broadens his outlook on football and also on life so a mover always benefits one way or the other. If he did not do as well as some people had expected maybe the influences on him would have been the same no matter when he left//moved. Folks, never be afraid to try something new--what you gain and what you lose always depends more on your attitude and outlook (positive or negative) than on outside influences--which you always have the option to change by another move. :love02:

As a new season looms
Well-written article and it's his opinions so he is entitled to them . However, my opinion is that a 2 rating out of ten, or even the hint of a 1, is too low--C'mon, that's just hitting below the belt for effect. I asked C.B. to send me an Oxford English Dixshonary and, yes, he's right---Naive is not spelt naieve....shoot! Thank goodness none of us are perfect...........except the Pimple, of course.

Did you kinow Jimmy Clitheroe mabasfc--or, better still, did you ever hear of him.? Now when you come back doon tae earth after yer wee visit don't forget tae tell yer pals that there are some verra strange Heelaners up in yon yar hills. And some are pimples frae Canada, no less. All wrapped up in the red maple leaf flag and sic a pretty sight. Are you not fed up with them in your capital bringing their big Mooses (no it isnae meeses or mice) to charm the locals. Thon Moose is small compared to the real thing, Maba. Why, in the wild West Grizzlies are twelve feet high and Moose about twice as long and tall as that. Some greedy enterprenurs got the idee that getting some of they Mooses intae the Calgary Stampede and hitched to the chuck wagons would draw in more of the current 300,000 spectators paying upwards of 300 million dollars per season but when they got up close they just as quickly changed their minds and set them on camels instead. I Guess when their buddies called them fearties then they got the hump..... :love02: no pun intended, like......
