Barry Robson off to Canada
IHE --you kill me! :hahaha: Scotty--over the hill.? Maybe his waistline is wasting away but he still looks fresh enough doesn't he, even if he looks as if he has passed the 30 line of no return...eh what? Regardless, there doesn't seem to be too much wrong with his very active and clever brain at this time does there? Reminds me of my hayday! You know ...Rosemary Clooney's song ."Heh there, you with the stars in your eyes" that's when the flipping eyes actually did work....eh? See what your'e coming to IHE? Better ease off on the "stuff eh?" Vancouver's gain is some other team's loss. If he is what, 33, how much gas does he have left in the tank to offer? The MLS is not a slow, carthorse league. Many of the players are fast and furious but if we get one or two good seasons out of him maybe it will be worth it for the Vancouver's new( and previously very successful) manager who has been hard at work upgrading the Whitecaps. Looking for big things this next season from them. O.K. Back to the couch, the pipe and slippers. Not long now for you IHE ! It's coming round the corner . Just phone Uncle Scar when in happens--a friend in need is a friend indeed. ..especially when he is good for a fiver.....

Whats going on with the under 19s
Oddquine It's perhaps a little unusual for a lady to express such passion for the male youth teams but you certainly did it very well indeed. All power to your elbow and if you tick off a few mighty males slightly in the process then be grateful and be commended for your spirit. One of the benefits to me of my interest being pricked is that I visited your website. I was most impressed by the variety of your interests and your curiosity and your apparently endless capacity to explore. You must be a very active girl and I think that you will always try to bring out the best feelings that you can relating to whatever you engross yourself i,. No half-measures with you, eh? Great to have you on this site--a breath of fresh air and no mistake. And keep after these old fogies on here. They are so "in a rut" from time to time. Just give 'em "laldy" I say. :hahaha:

Rangers go into administration
And I will bet quite a few of their very highly-paid players will be having a few nightmares at this time. Come to think of it, in what way are they sellable and how much are they now worth to the club. Let's say that they sold off every player currently on their roster would the total pounds received be sufficient to clear off all the debs I wonder? That would surely put them right out of business but would pay off all the hard working, and no doubt more honest, businesses and folks which/who have serviced that club over the years. Not to mention the unfortunate employees of Rangers F.C. Is anyone really thinking about the small businesses, and other folks mentioned, at this ? If they lose their livelihood can you blame the HMRC for being punitive when the ownership of the club has deliberately been avoiding the payment of ongoing and legitimate debts to the Taxpayers' representatives? Answer , IMHO, ...NO!

Lost money from Rangers game
How many times have you seen business entities holding back on monetary items or goods in similar circumstances whether it is against the law or not. If the law in these kinds of matters is unfair then why not just decisively act....possession is 9/10ths of the law after all and ICT could open the gates to any other fans that may want to come in; cash over the turnstile gate and first come ftrst served. It would be very difficult to sue ICT successfully over such a decision because they are guiltless in all this and could plead poverty and dire straits. All of which being the the mother of invention, like.

Rangers go into administration
What is clear is that the run -up of such a huge debt debt had to be deliberate. Their assumption was that they could wriggle out of it eventually in some way, shape or Form. For their sake I hope they are right but for the sake of all decent people I hope the Tax men do mthem in mightily and teach themn=m a lesson they will never be able to forget. But the fcat that Rangers pre-emoted tmje from doing the Sdministration business is suspicious The top brass of Rangers must be cynical to a fault, and basically dishonest, if they knew that they stood a good chance of getting away with a lot of the debt either being written off or reduced. And knowing that ultimately screwing the tax man and getting away with it so easily is lttle more than screwing the British taxpayer deliberately. Cynical may be flattering to them; perhaps depraved and criminally-minded might be more appropriate. Time will tell. Although I do find it odd that Rangers appears to have pre-empted the Taxmen by doing the Administration thing before the Revenoors got to the club first, don't you? It could appear that the all-knowing taxmen got caught with their pants down--something that , frankly, I just don't believe! It would make much more, rational, sense in the circumstan to believe that they did some kind of a deal with HMRC because the Revenue guys hav all the money and power in the world to have this long-running feud with rangers sewn up long before now. And their apparent lack of direct actionagainst the club to date could easily be interpreted as reason enough for the Rangers Brass to have acted with such impunity to date--almost as if they knew that getting off was not only likely but a foregone conclusion. How many would mourn their passing?

Rangers go into administration
At the brink one tends to suddenly face up to the financial gravity of the situation and the ultimate effect on all of Scottish Football. If Rangers did go to the death their fans , wherever they may be in Scotland, have to find a team to support so the selected team will surely benfit and some may do so mightily . This is as true in Inverness as in Glasgow and I would wager that the majority of current rangers fans would have little difficulty in switching over to the local team, ICT. Celtic would suffer financially--how could they do otherwise? If the effect of that was to cut them down to a lesser size then such a humbling excperience for them and their fans may not be the worst thing that could happen to either them or to Scottish football. And, in general terms, my belief is that it would result in a breath of fresh air flowing through the Scottish game which must have beneficial results. As for tradition, ultimately everything dies, unless we, the fans, are immortal. So, one tradition is replaced by another and we all move on. Change, like death, is inevitable. So live with it, adapt and flourish. Unfortunatel,y Rangers demise has been brought on not by the natural decline of advancing age but because of the irresponsible financial transactions done by an owner(s) and Board who are probaby too big for their boots and too wealthy to care that much about the consequences in the final analysis. But, taking on the HMRC is a very dangerous game because that institition is not known for their leniency, empathy, or the level of human kindness flowing through their veins being very high....more like it being akin to lower than a skunk's belly. If they let Rangers F C off the hook in any realistic way then you will at least once in your lifetime be privy to a miracle and the undeniable fact that money talks and influences them as well. However, I don't believe that will happen and Rangers could be facing the end of the road.

Butcher for England Manager
With the calibre of player one would assume that T Butcher would have at his disposal, he could be very successful. He would sort out the Prima Donnas pretty quick I would think. Hope that ICT would get a huge transfer fee (smile) to boot. Don't rule it out--stranger things have happened. And you cannot fault his spirit can you, especially when spirits seem to play a significant enough role in his life. I spy wiv mah littel eye. That terry is a spirited guy Thinking he won't leave is ...pie in the sky And don't waste mah time by asking why? And, if offered the job he will undoubtedly say "AYE"! :ictscarf:

Today's Attendance
Wanderer...my sentiments entirely. Turfing that was the last straw for me. Mean -spirited and thoughtless. This broadcast is not about one or two clubs alone but all the footie in Scotland really which I enjoyed . Personalities like John Robertson came on and , apart from on Open All Mikes , when would you get a chance to hear such a diversity of opinion and RAW emotions exploding.Very amusing sometimes.

Today's Attendance
Well Charles, they certainly don't find the money or the time to broadcast it overseas to isolated folks like Scotty and I and Ronny C and a good few others that I could mention. No wonder that Scotty's service was all booked when I applied for entry. I have now given up bothering to get up very early on match days since there is absolutely no commentaries at all anywhere on the computer or radio that I know of. How could it possibly hurt either the BBC or the club to allow something, anything, for us? Virtually none of us overseas persons are likely to come over to Tulloch on a Saturday, as Scotty has drily pointed out. The BBC also do not allow access to any post-match interviews at any time via the computer, even long after the match, post match videos...nothing. So, how much money does the club think it may be losing by blocking all access to us overseas listeners? ANYTHING? Probably NONE. I think all this talk of rights, blocking, copyright etc is just adding to the killing of this game. And, boy it sure seems to need a real strong shot in the arm of new spirit to regenerate the old enthusiam and enjoyment that I remember at , for example, Telford Street. The music from the tannoy may have been old fashioned and corny in them thar days but I never heard anybody cmplaining that they did not enjoy the outing to Caledonian F.C. There is precious little left of football watching that is natural anymore. They stopped the enjoyment of standing at games, wringing their hands and saying .."it's dangerous" Well, fix it so that it is not dangerous--put in extra barriers or whatever it takes etc. Then they make rules which are not implemented and allow refs to make decisions that are lambasted by the fans YET refuse to allow modern technology such as video, on the goal line and so on, to be introduced. I get the impression that the game in Scotland at least is run by suited Neanderthals with little purpose, other than to put more money in their pockets, little vision for the future and their minds are moribund of ideas and have no enthusiam for any kind of positive change. They are not even willing to try which is the worst crime of all. So, Charles, have you ever raised the issue of overseas listeners, being TOTALLY excluded from expressing their feelings for Caley Thistle, with the BBC and received any kind of positive response about change. Nobody is asking you to put your job in jeopardy but what the heck is going on here? The whole thing is a piece of stuff and nonsense It certainly does very little to foster loyalty and a desire to promote the image of ICT. It's all about money and, as we know, most of which goes to the already well-heeled and not the little clubs such as ours. So, we overseas listeners or fans are the forgotten few and good old Scottish football keeps on chugging along at a snail's pace of development, getting more behind the times, it seems , by the minute.

My. Youv'e done well Scotty. 18 years!. All that I can think of saying is.... Streuth! But you must like meee...... 'cos I'm a Canajin. Even if me sense of humour is as twisted sometimes as IHE's and Monty Python's. OOH! That's the first time i've ever used the little guy with the fingers. Doesn't he look good when magnified to 150%. :salute:

The Rangers
Alex No team or set of managers is irreplaceable. Scottish football would survive because then the clubs would probably reduce prices and hopefully get more fans in the gate. This would prop up the finances and a greater entertainment package all round? And the atmosphere at games should e better with more famns in the ground. ?

The Rangers
Overspending is simply spending money they don't have. It's like the Municipal Council here in Maple Ridge, Canada, spending great gobs of money that does not yet exist on projects of dubious merit because they assume that great gobs of money will come in from property developers simply based on past experiences. This behavour, once it reveals itself, is a red flag since it points to unorthodox methods of operation that have not been tried and truly tested and must depart fron normal accounting practices. Even if they can make such a scheme work in the short term it is not sustainable over several financial periods and ultimately is a recipe for disaster. This simply forces them to increase the taxes residents have to pay in property taxes, year by year, by amounts at least twice, if not greater than, the annual inflation rate. This situation then perpetuates itself until they face banklruptcy but , as a Council, this would not only be unthinkable but would never happen because, like all Governmemnts, they simply find another tax to impose on the already burdened residents. Their percepton is that spending money is a must and to get re-elected and they need to show "improvements " in either flower beds or new homes developments. The problem is always that the money they receive from developers never meets all the ongoing costs of sewers etc that these new developments require and this is usually accompanied by a set of Councillors who may be well meaning but lack the financial experience and vision to implement a policy of control and savings. Which, incidentally, mirrors the attitude of the average Canadian resident who is so deep in debt that they will have bleak financial future when the Feds do away with the OLD AGE SUPPLEMENT. Rangers must have spent money they did not have to get into this situation in the first place. And then used money, that they may have saved, to start propping up a deteriorating financial siiuation or not having spent it on paying off accumulating debt. Their fan base which is dwindling cannot support their thinking that they must do this to get more fans in the gate. And whereas the fees for big players get higher each year the revenue does not follow suit because there is a limit to what the average fan can afford to pay...or is willing to pay. Rangers going bust could be very good for Scottish football. Celtic might easily follow. And it would open up space fpor Scottish football to breath and expand at a pace not determined and controlled by the Old Firm. Tension in the SPL would be released and a more free -flowing product , more equality-based, would flourish. The emphasis would be less on money coming in, hopefully, than getting a higher quality entertaining football game onto the park because there would be more money to dish out to everybody instead of almost all of it going to these two. The Spl at the moment is extremely unbalanced and unequal and getting rid of both teams would not, necessarily,be the worst thing possible against its survival.

Bounce game vs Aberdeen
Tichy -- so you are clever too ...eh? How did you end up in Quatar or is that Catarrh-? -after all we have our tar sands here in Alberta, Canada.

Hayes offer, is he worth it
Unwise for the club to pay outlandish wages. Sets a precedent that will come back to haunt them.

He's not here, but we have a new player now and I hope he scores plenty with his NAPA.

Claude Gnakpa
Anyway ...easier to say. eh? If he doesn't perform you can always gildee him up by calling him Granpa. Why not? After all, a rose by any other name smells the same. Thinks: the reason that Terry's players from England do well here is because for them it must be a breath of fresh air from the pressure cooker of English football--so many teams and so many players. There is more room to move and they get to grow and get a game against sturdy and often very fast opposition here in the SPL and probably are surprised at the pace and turgidity of the game up here as well. And, for them, it's a completely fresh start which is always good.
-
Claude Gnakpa
What were the dates of the videos? If fairly recent, he seems a cool customer and either the opposition are afraid of him (won't tackle) or like watching his controlled play. So long as he doesn't make our fans gnash their teeth, by being gash, he would be fearsome alongside Tade. At least , for sure he will bring some colour into the team........ Bring him on Terry.
