Yogi's Contract
Erm, didn't we reject the initial approaches for Butcher before we 'reluctantly' agreed to let Hibs speak to him? I'm certainly not getting my hopes up despite this apparent good news. I suspect this has a bit to play out yet.

To be fair he looks like he was spot on about Lopez.

Yogi's Contract
Seems that United are going for Tommy Wright at this moment but I wonder if they can't snare him would they look again at Hughes? In the meantime why don't we offer the guy (and some of the players) contracts instead of running the risk of losing players and managers for buttons like we have done in the past.

Yogi's Contract
Would not have mattered who was manager, RC would have ended up there anyway given his Dad's connection to them, his own fondness for them, and their history of snapping up any decent young players in Scotland only to have (most of) them sit on the bench for a few years before rekindling their careers elsewhere. Hughes' achievements at ICT are worthy of an extended contract, but as noted earlier in the thread, how do we know that's not on the table already? Just because its not on the internet doesn't mean it does not exist. He also sounds happy with his lot right now ... and the autonomy that he gets to do his own thing at ICT ... something that more than one manager who has left us for so-called greener pastures has found is not the case elsewhere. He would do well to look at what happened to Paterson, Robbo, Brewster, and Butcher when they left us. There is more to life than money (although it is nice) and a happy work environment where you can always be looking to achieve something more is almost certainly better than the various toxic cesspits with unrealistic expectations and deep rooted 'office politics' that our former managers have found themselves in ...... Sadly the fans are seldom told anything about things going on at the club who aren't exactly forthcoming with information so I doubt we would ever find out anyway (that said offering a contract wouldn't be the kind of thing a club would announce unless it was signed). I would certainly like to think that we are more proactive in offering new deals than we seem to be but given how often we lose talented players for free or cut price transfers because their contracts are winding down it's hard to believe that we are. Anyway, we've apparently said that there has been no approach which, mindful of the above, is welcome news: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/inverness-caley-insist-theres-been-6548541

Yogi's Contract
No I agree with you it's just your earlier post sounded like that the fact that he sold a good player to Celtic was (part of) the reason he should be considered an ICT legend which I wouldn't agree with. I also agree with your point about him being offered a new deal and that this should have been done after the Cup Final win. However as we all know the club doesn't seem to be overly proactive when handing out new contracts save for a short period a couple of years back when the likes of Warren and Doran (I think) signed up on new long-ish deals.

Sorry, why is helping one of our players secure a move to Celtic seen as a reason for considering Hughes as a club legend?

Right midfield. Later seemed to come into the middle alongside Draper and Tansey.

Shinnie for Scotland
It's pretty a standard red top story but it is a bit galling to read it at face value and assume that he has only been playing at this level since he went to Aberdeen. Apart from maybe a wee dip in form around the start of this year Shinnie has been a consistently outstanding performer for about two seasons now. He is playing no better at Aberdeen than he was with us. He has deserved a call up for a long time now and whilst I am disappointed he never got that chance with us it's great to see that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

Livingston -V- Inverness CT
I thought we were very poor last night. Luckily we got an early goal capitalising on a defensive error and after surviving some pretty sustained pressure from Livi got another one to give us a bit more of a cushion. Good to see Storey get on the score sheet again. He's obviously not the finished product but he shows real promise and he did well to seize on a slack back pass although he struggled to actually finish it off when he seemed to get the ball stuck beneath his beet on the line Good header from Devine for the second which you could see coming a mile off. As soon as Tansey was lining up the free kick Devine was gesturing for the ball to be played to the back post where he was lurking unnoticed. Good free kick from Tansey to pick him out and it was a pretty easy header. Between the goals Livi really dominated the game and should probably have equalised. Someone for ICT cleared a header off the line and Tremarco made a goal saving challenge to block a shot before Fon Williams pulled off a decent save to stop Gary Goal-en. In the second half, as if we weren't already finding things a bit of a slog, we tried to score for Livi when Raven headed the ball onto the bar (or just over) from a free kick. One of the Livi defenders then had a great chance to score with a brilliant turn and volley which went just wide. With Livi pressing we were able to create a wee bit more on the break and Tansey curled an effort just wide before Williams burst into the box and looked to be hacked down but Alan Muir gave nothing. Subs Mutumbo and Lopez then combined to set up another great chance to kill the game off but as usual Lopez Hibs'd it up before Mutumbo hit the post with another late effort. Good to get the win but again we weren't very good however we took our chances when they came and although Livi might feel a wee bit hard done by that was the difference between the sides. We'll need to improve a lot before Saturday if we want to take anything from the game. Plus points were Storey again looked promising and Mutumbo showed that when he's not trying to murder people on the pitch he can actually be a decent creative player for us.

Mind when Barry Wilson relegated Livi when he scored that free kick? Glorious.

Simple. The players that could come in are not as good as the ones that they would be replacing.

Dundee Utd -V- Inverness CT
Thought it was a pretty poor game between two very poor teams. Dundee United had the better of the first half whilst we dominated the second. Another game where we have taken 45 minutes to really get going. Hughes needs to sort this out because we can't keep this level of performance up and hope to still be in games when the second half comes about. A number of players had an off day for us. Tansey was really poor and his passing was off. Devine looked pretty ropey in the first half but seemed to steady himself as the game went on, same with Tremarco. Up front there was very little to get excited about. Not much creativity and very slow to actually try and carve out an opening. We don't seem to be attacking with much, if any, pace at all and that killed a lot of our attacks yesterday with players turning back instead of trying to play a more incisive attacking ball or cross. Not surprised at all to see that Billy Mckay scored for United. Didn't look like we covered ourselves in glory trying to clear the ball before it eventually fell to Mckay who scrambled it in. Bit of a muted celebration from him but he was hardly going to do some kind of Adebayor and run up to the ICT fans and wind them up. We had a couple of nice attacking moves which never really amounted to anything. As mentioned already our more creative players like Tansey and Christie were very muted and our midfield was being over run by 'Sideshow Bob' (no idea what his name is but I thought he was decent). We finally got going in the second half and grabbed a deserved equaliser. Meekings arrived unmarked at the back post to batter in a header to bring Inverness level. After the goal Ryan Christie played a smashing ball through to Tremarco to run on to but his shot was poor and easily saved. That was probably our best chance to win it but it would have been pretty undeserved. Shout out to referee Kevin Clancy who turned in a shocking performance. Draper probably should have been sent off for committing about 86 fouls in the game and even pretty obvious bookings for the likes of Sideshow Bob when he hauled Christie down after he was beaten weren't punished by a yellow card. If we start as slowly as we did yesterday in our next (league) game against Aberdeen we will be slaughtered. EDIT: Thought it was a really good away crowd yesterday. Looked like a decent number of folk made the trip. Well done all!

Team v Dundee United 19/09/2015
Unbelievable Jeff. Just over 24 hours to go until KO and no one is talking about this game. Same team as last Friday for me. United seem to have a few players out including, as rumoured on P & B, one Billy Mckay. I think I am right in saying that they have recorded just four wins in 2015 which is absolutely rotten. No reason why we couldn't get something from this game. Fon Williams Raven Devine Meekings Tremarco Tansey Draper Christie Vincent Williams Storey
