  1. Would it not be better to go to the Dundee United game?
  2. Rory missed an open goal at half time and smacked some old guy in the face with the ball :015: :015: :015:
  3. Calum Murray and Dougie MacDonald shared the winners accolade :003:
  4. Are you listening ICT/SPL clubs? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/w...all/6576807.stm
  5. Gough saved the club from relegation.
  6. He hasn't been in charge of an ICT game this season.
  7. From what I can see it is two posters who are talking about football managing to engage in discussion without resorting to any kind of foul mouthed abuse. Some other posters on here could learn a great deal from us... ...oh well! Hardly. I may not agree with Gary but I respect his opinion and I know that you can actually get a good discussion/argument with him. I'll hold off sending the boys round for now. What you said was: While I don't disagree on the getting behind him while he is on the pitch part I don't believe for a second that producing our own players is the only way forward for ICT as you state. It is simply one method of progress. As for Rory he will get my support on Saturday (if he plays) but I don't think he is good enough for us at this level (yet) and we can't afford to keep playing him in the hope he will come good. If we did that then we'd still have Prunty playing up front for us. Rory needs to show improvement and soon.
  8. It's pretty straight forward really. Read the rest of the paragraph instead of picking out one sentence that looks like it might contradict what I said earlier and that should clear things up: What I am getting at is that yes - there will be some element of youth at ICT in the future but it won't necessarily all be youth players from our own system coming through. I would expect more youth players from other clubs that have been freed given a chance with us, like Ian Black for example, and they will form most of our "youth" for the coming years. I don't think so. Previously what we have done is take players that have freed by their previous clubs and we seem to give them confidence and get the best out of them e.g. Wyness, Dargo, Dods even if it's just for a short space of time (i.e. a couple of seasons). Currently our youth system has yielded Grant Munro and Ike? You however seem to think that producing our own youth players is the only way we will progress. I disagree hence the "I don't think so." part of my post. It might be one way we will progress as a club but it certainly will not be the only way. In a nutshell - I don't think producing our own youth players is the only way forward for this club. I think it is simply part of the way forward along with the methods we have already employed in the past i.e. signing experienced pros and youngsters released from other clubs. The major way forward for us will be improving the scouting network to cast our net wider in the search for new players and also strengthening links with our feeder team :003:
  9. Right, I'm with you now. I misread your initial post. The only criticism I can mind of Bayne from one poster who said he wouldn't score more than 3 goals this season :015: Possible but experience doesn't equate to good. I call this the Gary McSwegan rule. Again possible but I think highly unlikely in his case. As I've said before Prunty Mk II. In theory you could say we have done. Munro, for example, is our Carragher. If Brown is worth £6 million I will eat my own feet. Considering Arsenal got Rosicky for £7 million there is no way that Brown is worth that much nor will anyone pay that for him. Hibs will be lucky if they get £3 million for him. What am I wrong about? I've certainly not said that youth is not the way forward if that's what you are getting at. What I am saying is that it might very well will be but it won't necessarily be the fruit of our own youth programmes that we see filling up the team sheet which is no problem for me if it means more Browns and Blacks playing for ICT in the future. That can only be a good thing. However this will need to be supplemented with slightly more experienced players also likely to have been picked up after other teams have released them.

We couldn't afford Burchills wages. I would expect someone like Hibs to sign him.
  11. Really? I don't recall anyone criticising Bayne before he started playing for us. Don't think they are the same given that the ciriticism of Rory has been based upon some very poor showings whenever he has come on or started. People have actually seen him play poorly as opposed to (allegedly) criticising a player before he has played for the club. While we can't break into the Top 6 any more we can work our way higher up the league and points mean prizes (well, money). Right now Rory is a passenger for us. I wouldn't want to see him start any games from now till the end of the season. Maybe a wee subs appearence here and there but we need goals and players who will get him. He won't, not at this stage though I would be happy to be proved wrong, and therefore we need forwards on the pitch from the start who will likely get us these goals. This does not include Rory. As you say yourself he is only 19. He could well develop into something big for us but I don't think he will do so while playing a subs role. A loan deal, perhaps to County in SFL2 might be of use to him to boost his confidence. I can't see you having to worry about that. Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson have shown a lot of loyalty to Hibs haven't they? Gerrard and Carragher are the only players in this Liverpool team to "come through the ranks", same with Terry at Chelsea and Ferguson at Rangers though you could include Smith and Hutton ( :015:) if you wanted. The current Man United team has only a couple of players that have been nurtured through from their teens (or younger). We might get one or two good players coming through, like Munro and Fraser (?), over the years to come but we won't be producing young talent in bulk as people seem to think. We might pick it up after they have been freed by other clubs e.g. Black and then sell them on however.
  12. When? Ian Black was what, 19 or 20 when he started getting into the first team. Pretty much right from the off he showed skill and performed well for us. He showed promise. Rory has not shown any kind of promise for us bar one game against Celtic. He has time on his side but we cannot afford to give him that time while he is playing this poorly. A season out on loan at Peterhead for example might do him some good like it did Robson at Forfar but I don't think Rory has got it. Prunty version 2.0.

Interesting to read Charlie talking about where they train - no mention of the HFA. Do the first team use it?
  14. When has McSwegan proved he has a good shot on him aside from the Hibs game?
  15. *Courier Story* Never agreed with his signing in the first place and can't see him being offered a new deal to be honest.
  16. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ian/6563711.stm Why is this worth posting? Well given the rumours about Hibs being after Black this signing might quell any speculation regarding a possible move to Easter Road for Ian. Let's hope so anyway.

Yes. Dods was a Saint Johnstone "cast off" - and playing in a division below Motherwell whose "casts offs" aren't good enough for us according to you. He is a prime example of where we do our buying. Players like Duncan, Wyness and Caff are all "cast offs" in one way or another or are Aberdeen cast offs seen as better than Motherwell cast offs? I wouldn't think so. Regardless, players that are freed by their clubs in the SPL are going to be the ones we are likely to look at given our budget and I see nothing wrong in it if they have something to offer which many players int he past certainly have done. Incidentally, Sutton would be far from a St. Mirren "cast off". He is doing the excat same thing as Dargo and I would love to have him at ICT.

Is that a serious comment? I wish. We could offer a pre-contract but with Cardiff rumoured to be after him there is no chance of us landing him.
  19. I don't have a problem with Gretna other than when they try and claim they haven't spent any money on their amazing rise to the top oft he SFL leagues. I see now another high profile signing is about to be allowed to leave with MacFarlane rumoured to be told that he is surplus to requirements. Of course these players came to Gretna to work with Rowan and not the massive pay cheques. Tosh and MacFarlane between them took home nearly £3,000 per week :010: While it is entirely up to Brooks what he does with his money to try and claim that the team has been put together without any massive investment is taking the piss. That's what gets people annoyed about Gretna.

Did he not also have some kind of stomach infection or was it something to do with his groin? The reason I ask is that Tokely was suspected to have a very similar injury to Keogh but it wasn't as serious as Liams one.
  21. You must be quite new to this SPL lark. Dunfermline for a time were a regular top 6 side in the SPL. It's only been the last couple of years that they have floundered.
  22. If you're a Falkirk season ticket holder maybe. Doubt I will be able to take this game in. I grudge paying £19 for what is essentially a friendly.

    Methinks you are correct! :001:
  24. 21.04.2007 at 15:00 League Inverness CT Motherwell Loss - the Home team in this fixture seldom wins. 28.04.2007 at 15:00 League Dundee Utd Inverness CT Loss - Dundee United are revitalised under CL and I fully expect us to lose this game. Happy to be proved wrong. 05.05.2007 at 15:00 League Falkirk Inverness CT Draw - unless we can learn how to finish then another result like last weekend beckons. 12.05.2007 at 15:00 League Inverness CT Dunfermline Loss - Dunfermline will need the points more and we saw what happened with a team who has something to play for and a team who has nothing to play for meet. Plus we have never looked good against them this season. 19.05.2007 at 13:00 League St. Mirren Inverness CT Draw/Win - Again nothing between the teams and we scrapped past St. Mirren reserves in January. We were thoroughly hammered at Paisley but escaped with a point. A draw would be a good result.

It was me for much the same reason Caley D gave except I felt that it belonged in rumours :003:
