MacGregor is utterly obsessed with besting ICT. If County were to be relegated you can be sure that he would back them as much as would be required to get back into the Premiership. The only way I could ever see him reducing his financial input would be if they went through a sustained period in the Championship without success. There were would only be so long he could continue to write off loans whilst at that level.

I think this is massively important for the club. A bit of positivity on the pitch for the first time in what seems like an age. We will likely lose some players of quality over the summer as well as trimming some excess "fat" but hopefully Robbo has a bit more time to identify folk that can come in and bolster the relatively sound core squad we have and the players we already have will hopefully be strengthened by a season of football and playing together as well. I don't think we'll win the title next season (shock pessimistic prediction there!) but I do think we will mount a strong charge for the playoffs. Morton had clearly downed tools yesterday but you can only beat what's put in front of you and we did that easily. A good performance all round really and a healthy away support as well that gave excellent backing throughout the game.

A Dunfermline fan on P & B has posted this interview with James Vincent. There's a lengthy discussion of his time at ICT as well which is an interesting read. Have a gander here: https://jordanburtfootball.com/2018/04/20/fortunately-my-gamble-of-having-a-little-run-paid-off-james-vincent-tells-us-what-it-feels-like-to-score-the-winner-in-a-national-cup-final/

Sublime strike from Polworth to open the scoring. Picked the ball up about 25 yards from goal and fired in a low drive the flew into the net. We should have added to our lead but poor finishing from Bell and Oakley meant we never did. Livi had a couple of half chances but never really looked like they would get a goal back. Not at our best but a deserved win in the end. Bit of forlorn hope for Saturday...

Struggled to create anything of note. Livi have had the better chances. Seedorf is getting rinsed at right back and needs help. Incredibly narrow set up from ICT. Game crying out for a bit of width but Doran and Polworth have been tucked right inside.

Rumours are that we've offered him a contract that includes a sizeable pay cut. It is unlikely that he is going to sign on with those terms. ETA: The Edinburgh Evening News seems to be backtracking on us signing Beith. Apparently we are now looking at a swap deal involving Mulraney which would be a bit weird given both are out of contract in a few weeks time.

Very interesting reading indeed. Could well be a useful player for us next season although a wee bit surprised by the 3 year deal. Looking forward to seeing him in action. Wonder if he will be replacing someone who currently fulfils that similar kind of role and is likely to be away soon?

Good post and I particularly agree with these points. Go on Pie and Bovril and do a search for Finnie and you'll find a lot of very uncomplimentary posts about the guy. Appreciate that referees do not, and probably will never, have it easy but it's not bias just the fact that there are some staggeringly poor officials in the league these days.

The club is not going into administration however financial pressures are such that we cannot compete with the contracts being offered to some of our out of contract players. As I've said before, expect to see some of our more well known players move on to pastures new this summer, both those who are out of contract and those under contract as the club continues to cut back and reduce the wage bill.

If they do put in a museum they can have a wax figure of John Hughes put in place so wynthank15 can create an official shrine to him and have candlelit vigils every home game.

I seem to recall reading that as well. Great news as he is an absolutely dreadful official.

It was a bit of a minter of a "lap" of the stadium really. Don't blame the players for being bummed out given how things had gone in the game but completely agree that it was a shame so many fans just bailed and left. No wonder they seemed totally unenthused by the whole thing.

I don't understand why the club couldn't even have run a poll on the website for this?

We've got a lot more on our plate to focus on rather than what that mob over the bridge are doing. Lots of rumours circulating about the financial state of ICT.

Heartbroken, tears, heads gone etc. There was only one team winning that yet for some reason we completely took our foot off the gas and started time wasting and we gradually became more and more panicky when we had the ball. Instead of taking the ball down and finding a team mate we started hurriedly clearing balls high in the air showing no composure whatsoever in the final ten minutes or so. Poor defending for the opener. Seedorf was being roasted down the right to start with so it was no surprise that the goal originated from there. Can't really remember it actually with everything else that happened during the game but I don't think Ridgers had much of a chance. Nice equaliser from Chalmers with a free kick. His set pieces were abysmal today but the one that did come off saw us bag a goal. Second half we should have been out of sight. Lovely equaliser from Austin and, as mentioned above, we seemed to lose our way a bit after he went off. Whilst Oakley still caused a few problems for the Pars centre backs Mackay wasn't as good as Austin was at getting the ball down and running at them. Our best chance to kill the game came when Doran worked the ball from the left to Mackay but he curled a shot just wide of the post. As renegade mentions I think we made the wrong subs today. Whilst Austin might have had to come off due to injury I think Mackay was the wrong choice (easy to say with hindsight of course) and Doran was playing really well when he went off which also saw us regress a fair bit. Calder just didn't really carry the ball away from danger when he took his place on the left flank. I'm not his biggest fan but with his pace Mulraney would have been a real asset with all the space Dunfermline were leaving behind their back line. Again, hindsight is a wonderful thing. In the end with Dunfermline throwing the proverbial kitchen sink at us we finally buckled. Couldn't see what happened but it looked like we failed to deal with a high ball pumped into the box and it was scrambled home from close range. Absolutely gutting but in a bizarre way I'm almost relieved as I couldn't take another two games like today in the next week. Hopefully we can keep a good chunk of this squad and have a good go next season but with rumours abound that the vultures are circling over some key players who are out of contract in the next few weeks I'm not too sure that we will keep said important players.

If we do make the playoffs the players will be blowing out their backsides

Bit harsh to ask us and Dumbarton to play two games in one day.

Rearranged for tomorrow night.

Liam Polworth is 23 years old and has already played something like 3 or 4 times the number of games that Munro had played at the same age and at a higher level as well.

Probably worth remembering that this Caulker story was completely made up much like Morelos to "unnamed Chinese club".
