its trademarked to HBO ! ... in fact there are multiple registrations of Togetherness .... and thats a good illustration of my point...... The McDonalds example is a red herring about a litigious company who try to stop anyone from using anything close to their name even if it can be shown not to be seeking commercial advantage or anything to do with their brand. I would include apple - who wanted to trademark anything that began with a lower case 'i' - and others in this same boat. Caley Thistle are not seeking to stop anyone from using 'Pride of the Highlands' nor to gain any exclusivity over the phrase (we used it first !!!), but they do want to try and make sure that no-one who might try to pass things off as being associated with the club can be dealt with in terms of infringing on their IP ....

Dont think they are claiming exclusive rights to it ... they are merely protecting their 'intellectual property' as it relates to the use on clothing, footwear and headgear with or without the club badge. Like it or not, its a slogan that has been used and has become somewhat synonymous with the club so regardless of what I or others think about where it is used, I do agree with the concept of protecting that slogan. I do find it interesting that the trademark doesnt mention social media however, but given that I have been fighting twitter for some time now to have a couple of fake accounts suspended that are using our CTO profile, information, links and my own, personally taken photos, with them basically finding me new hoops to jump through every time I clear their last hurdle its perhaps understandable.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble ... but read Ian Broadfoot's book and you will see I tried to create such a scheme many years ago. It was termed the "Pay A Player" scheme and designed to give Steve Paterson extra funds when ICT were on the brink of bankruptcy due to the stadium debt. I got tremendous verbal buy-in when it was publicised on the internet and among the supporters but when I was offering direct debit forms to people the mood changed a lot ! People were fine with the concept and the cause, just not so keen to part with their own money. Luckily, David Sutherland came along and made the whole project irrelevant but its not as easy to prise the hard earned away from someone as it sounds ! Time has moved on now and perhaps its easier to implement this. If I had to do it again (which I sincerely hope we never have to) maybe it would be a recurring donation or a gofundme page or something like that. Other options include purchasing seasons tickets (as mentioned), sponsoring players, or buying shares, merchandise etc. I usually end up with a comp ticket or a spare from one of my friends when on my travels and I do always appreciate it, but I always make sure I spend far more than that in the shop for merchandise etc ... and thats doubled now with the wee man being both an ICT and TFC fan too !

General terms and phrases have been allowed for donkeys Charles ..... Coca Cola "It's the real thing" for example ? or how about Mr Kipling's "Exceedingly Good" cakes. Walmart even tried to trademark the yellow smiley face they use but got denied in this case. Paris Hilton was approved for "That's Hot". Twitter have been denied the trademark on the word "Tweet" and Subway has a pending result for the word "Footlong" although McDonalds were denied in their attempts to trademark the "Mc" prefix. and Donald Trump was denied for the phrase "You're Fired" from the apprentice TV show yet seems to have been approved for his current presidential slogan "Make America Great Again" ...... I know what you are getting at @ictfcsince94 but really, while the league season has not started, the season as a whole has started ... it started at Cowdenbeath in the first game in the new League Cup format. If you dont believe me, just ask Richie Foran who said something to that effect during the actual pre-season when the Q&A video was filmed ...... its a national competition, part of the calendar for "the season", and players stats and records will reflect that. Was our foray into Europe last season not part of our season? It happened around the same time, and before the league season started too .....

If you haven't watched this through, I would urge you to do so. I am about half way through the 90 minutes so far and enjoying Richie's answers and his attitude to things. Feeling very positive about this season and beyond.

That is definitely the issue for us - and by extension for the ICT website who use the same data source. We are currently in discussions to get the software tweaked and upgraded by an external third party as the original author no longer supports it. We are looking to accommodate the split first and foremost and it may be advantageous to get this additional SPFL foible added too (if possible). Currently, in the event of a draw we have the option to tick a box to say extra time (or not) and one to say penalties. for penalties we then have a box to enter the number for each side. In the even of a penalty loss, the software changes the 'D' result to a 'L' ..... Will be guided by the club on this one, but as we got a draw in this match and still 1 point then perhaps it is best to remove the tick from the penalty box so it does appear as 'D' rather than L

This is done in MLS and I get into the stadium this way every home game with my Toronto FC tickets. At BMO field there are no turnstiles, only gates with security and scanning personnel present. Your ticket, be it a physical one that came with your season ticket package, an electronic one on your phone, or a simple printout from your account manager account (provided via Ticketmaster) is all you need ..... the ticket has a unique barcode and is scanned with a hand scanner not unlike those in the supermarket. It works well but I am sure the infrastructure and software licensing is not cheap as Don has mentioned. It has the ability to instantly check if the ticket has already been used or whether its been reprinted from an account (which voids the original barcode) .. thats the expensive part ......

kind of like this format ... 3 points for a win, 2 pts for a 'winning draw', 1 pt for a draw and 0 points for a loss ..... not as dramatic as penalty shootouts in knock out tournaments but something different ....
