Cutting our throats ?
Think its the nature of the beast IHE ..... Both are here to cover for longer term injuries to Hayes and Doran and I very much doubt either would have been signed if those two were fit. Do we have anyone in the squad, or in the reserves/U-19s who could fill those spots for 3 months on a regular basis ? Heck, for the last two gaames (and for some others) we haven't even been able to list a full bench. Having them here until the New Year is a double-edged sword .... if they prove to be very good then we will miss them if the loans aren't extended, if they prove to just be comparable replacements then Hayes and Doran will come back and the whatever proportion of the wages we are paying will be off the books ..

ICT -V- Hearts : Matchday Thread
I'll take 1-1 against Hearts !!! Admittedly, I am disappointed we didnt get all three points but once Templeton and Taouil came on we were always in danger. Plus points (based on radio commentary) ... Tade gets 2 goals in 2 games and seems to have linked up well with Foran today, Davis sounds like a good player and Chippendale's first touch was a strong run. We sounded like we did decently in defence (Golobart's brainfart excluded) so all in all a solid performance. will be interesting to see the comments of those who were there in person as that can often be a different viewpoint to commentators .... and talking of commentators,Brian Irvine actually made me chuckle twice today which is a first !!!

NEW INVESTMENT IN ICTFC
IHE agreeing with Mr Bannerman .... you know you just have to take notice of that !!! FWIW, I also agree with them and will settle for option 1 As for moving stadium ? unless someone wants to buy out our lease and pay all costs associated with moving us elsewhere then I dont see it. The lease is the only real asset we have in terms of the stadium. We dont own the building (removed to stadium trust when debt was made invisible), we dont own the land (always been the councils) and we would not make a fortune by selling anything. Laying aside that hurdle for a second and assuming we could afford to move, I am kind of in two minds about the stadium ... lots of good memories (and history) there, and a lingering chance of the "leisure village" complex that would see the value of our location rocket send me off in the NO MOVE direction, but the chance to perhaps have a 4 sided compact stadium elsewhere in the town with facilities, amenities and infrastructure included from the start send me in the other direction (YES, lets move) although I have no idea where such a location could be found. As I dont think moving is going to be anything more than a pub or forum talking point for many years to come then happy to be in that undecided position and able to listen to and absorb both sets of ideas.

Take it your left handed Alex ? Anyhoo - mine is probably the most boring of everyones .... I go to the kitchen, make a coffee in my ICT mug, take it downstairs and drink it (and another one sometimes) while listening to the game on the net ...... make up for it later in the day if there is a TFC match though !!!

Friday Night Football
bad idea. Fair enough moving games for TV (even if that is one area where the OF fans do actually get shafted). TV games bring revenue to the league from sponsors, advertisers and TV companies so there is actually a clear benefit from it .... Wont even complain about the odd midweek game if it helps the fixture calendar or has to be squeezed in when a game has been postponed .... but what benefit is there to be had from a non-televised Friday night game ????? The release says "Working with the Police and our colleagues at the SFL and Scottish FA, these fixtures have been chosen as a pilot and with the supporters very much in mind. We would encourage fans to get in touch and let us hear their views and feedback on Friday night football in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.? Can anyone spot the flaw ??? They discussed it with Police, SFL, SFA and SPL .... supposedly with fans in mind ... yet fans are only invited to give feedback after the fact ..... would it not have been an idea to ask them BEFORE this ludicrous decision? I am sure a fans' poll on the SPL or SFL websites or even on a site like P&B which covers multiple teams would have given them a clear and concise answer to this lunacy. Clubs are struggling to make ends meet and their best opportunity for a large crowd is undoubtedly 3PM on a Saturday afternoon. Its what fans expect, its what many of them can plan for weeks or months in advance, and in some cases it can also keep costs down (floodlighting for evening games is not cheap for example). bad bad bad idea besides .... ICT have never really done well in Friday night games ... cant remember if we have done any in the SPL, but we did have one back in 99 @Morton ... a horrible 5-1 tanking !

NEW INVESTMENT IN ICTFC
I didnt say that is what is happening ... I said that is one of the factors that was stated at the time .... With hindsight, the "get them in, get them out quick" reasoning is indeed flawed because in reality, your scenario is what actually happens. If the local plan for the area - posted on here a few times over the years - ever comes to fruition (leisure village, marinas, hotels etc, then the TCS would be at the very centre of a vibrant area ......

NEW INVESTMENT IN ICTFC
It was its close proximity to the A9 that was a plus point !!! The council didnt want loads of cars going through the town to potential sites at the Bught or Merkinch, which some fans also thought had a "west of the river" Caley bias and the infrastructure to Stratton Farm, too far east of the river and a Thistle bias for others, was also an issue. Longman was a compromise that everyone lived with as the council thought it could get folk in and out quickly and easily using A9 and A96 and fans from both sides of the river could get there easily enough .....

Green/Red dot Reputation System
I will address those two points as the thread can still be read even though it is closed. It is not "stolen" from P&B shamelessly or otherwise ... we use the same software package as they do, and have done for years. Its a feature of the package not some proprietary coding they invented. Reason mods can see who dished out what and to who is because they are mods and are tasked with running the site. Certain users abuse the system and mods need to be able to see who that is so they can remove the ability to post reputation points.

Scotland's chances
We cant do anything about the outcome on Saturday, and there is no way to know what would have happened in those last few minutes if he had not awarded the Czechs a penalty ... Would we still have pressed for a third - and been denied a penalty ? or would we have sat back and conceded a soft equalising goal some other way (probably with the last kick of the ball) ? It is what it is and there is no point feeling worse about it. However, it is good to know that the guy who screwed up two vital decisions will also have to face the ramifications of his own ineptitude !!! Karma's a bitch !!!

Scotland's chances
I notice that the Dutch football federation has demoted the ref from the Czech game based on his performances ...... He is (was) the a top tier ref, is on the FIFA list, and was expected to be the Dutch nomination for Euro 2012. However, former top Dutch referee Dick Jol told the media that Blom will not be the referee that the KNVB send to Euro2012 and admitted he was not surprised by his showing. ?The decision has been made and Bjorn Kuipers will be the one the KNVB will be nominating for the European Championships. Actually, Blom's display didn't surprise me. Last season he dished out five red cards and most of them were dropped on review. The difference between normal refereeing and refereeing at the highest level is in the final phase of a match. That's when most red cards, penalties and decisive goals occur. That's when a referee has to be extra sharp and be right on top of all situations." to the Dutch Federation !

Scotland's chances
As far as 2012 is concerned, I think we are sunk. There's a slim chance and we can hope to beat Spain on their own patch but realistically that would be a freak result. They are head, shoulders, and probably several full torsos ahead of us. We can but dream though ! As for 2016 - definitely hope there ! Holders do not qualify automatically, only the hosts, which this time round will be France. A prominent stats website has suggested that the two most logical formats to get the other 23 qualifiers from the 53 nations of UEFA would be ..... 9 groups: 2x5 + 7x6 (52 nations). In this scenario the top two from each group and the best team in third place would advance. The other eight play-off for the final four spots. 10 groups: 8x5 + 2x6 (52 nations). In this scenario the top two from each group advance. The best six teams in third place play-off for the final three spots. It is thought that the 9 group option is clear favourite to be chosen but UEFA has not confirmed anything yet. The current (Aug 2011) UEFA co-efficient would see us in Pot 4 regardless of the format so trying to get ourselves up from 34th to at worst 27th (in a 9 group draw) or to 30th (in a 10 group draw) is what we need to work at between now and the draw (no idea of date but presumably somewhere between August 2012 and the first qualifying game in August 2014) ..... The next list is released on Sep 9th so I wonder if we go up a little or down ? Current monthly co-efficient (and possible pots based on that. France excluded [hosts]) columns as follows: current rank - previous rank - country - points ------------------------------ POT 1 ------------------------------ 1 1 Netherlands 25755 2 2 Spain 25525 3 3 Germany 24627 4 4 Italy 21455 5 5 England 20264 6 6 Sweden 20148 7 7 Greece 19554 8 8 Russia 19309 9 9 Croatia 18961 ------------------------------ POT 2 ------------------------------ 10 10 Slovakia 18906 11 11 Portugal 18524 12 12 Ireland 18226 13 13 Denmark 18152 14 14 Ukraine 17951 15 15 Israel 16815 16 16 Montenegro 16671 17 17 Czech Republic 16631 18 18 Norway 16606 ------------------------------ POT 3 ------------------------------ 19 19 Slovenia 16523 20 20 Hungary 16221 21 21 Bosnia-Herzegovina 16151 22 22 Turkey 15764 23 23 Belarus 15622 24 24 Serbia 15524 25 27 Northern Ireland 15174 26 25 Belgium 14360 27 26 Switzerland 14201 ------------------------------ POT 4 ------------------------------ 28 28 Romania 13741 29 29 Finland 13601 30 30 Austria 13458 31 31 Poland 12751 32 32 Bulgaria 12681 33 33 Albania 12597 34 34 Scotland 12388 35 35 Armenia 12074 36 36 Latvia 11964 ------------------------------ POT 5 ------------------------------ 37 37 Georgia 11623 38 38 Lithuania 11390 39 39 Estonia 11336 40 40 Moldova 10414 41 41 Macedonia 10242 42 42 Cyprus 9631 43 43 Kazakhstan 8587 44 45 Azerbaijan 8467 45 46 Liechtenstein 8310 ------------------------------ POT 6 ------------------------------ 46 44 Faroe Islands 8225 47 47 Wales 8020 48 48 Iceland 7735 49 49 Luxembourg 7019 50 50 Malta 5573 51 51 Andorra 5240 52 52 San Marino 4597

New Chairman Announced
He's game for a laugh ! I am sure if you asked him, he might consider it .... although if the stewards threw him out for standing it might make it a little difficult to do his chairmanly duties in hospitality after the match !

New Chairman Announced
As it currently stands, the chairman had to be from within so it had to be one of the existing six board members. My reading of the release suggests to me that Kenny will take on the role temporarily, while talks still take place with any interested investors. As CaleyD mentioned, the board do have leeway to appoint additional directors and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that one or more of these investors may end up on the board. Once that is done they are eligible to be elected Chairman .........

New Chairman Announced
Times must have changed then Lets get the negative out of the way first .... Yup, he's a 'cronie' of DFS, but there's a difference between having a harmonious business and personal relationship with someone and being a lapdog. KC has proven to be his own man in terms of ICT on numerous occasions. I can think of numerous examples of ideas, concerns and/or points he has brought to the table over the last 10-12 years that I have been dealing with him, and I cant think of any examples where he has meekly "toed the party line" as you suggest. He was the person behind "Boardroom Banter" (both I & II), and made sure directors, even DFS as Chairman, were at least attempting to answer fan questions on a regular basis. He has frequently gone to bat for our fans when stewards have been heavy handed or they have been unfairly dealt with. (something I witnessed him do personally) He has been front and centre in trying to get the old website replaced with a new one that contains as many of the features that fans have requested such as audio/video, a decent design and more up to date info ... lots of work still to do on this but he is pushing hard on the club side to make sure they get the info out to the fans. He doubtless has other stuff up his sleeve, but as Operations Director he seems to be focused on making sure there is communication at all levels and we are all pulling in the same direction (as mentioned in the press release). Whilst previous chairmen may have wanted this too, I can tell you that this attitude - on an operations level - is in stark contrast to some of the previous "day to day" bosses of the business (under various job titles). Ok, now that that bit is over, my reaction to the actual news of this appointment is (as anyone who knows my opinion of Kenny) that it is EXCELLENT NEWS !!! As I mentioned above, I have dealt with Kenny ever since he first appeared on the scene at ICT and his appointment, however temporarily, to the Chairman's role is great news for the club and for the fans ... so long as it doesnt affect the good work he is currently doing as Operations Director.

Against All Odds- Online edition
What bollocks ! For a start, CaleyD was only involved in the fringes and it was mainly me who was involved from the CTO side so slagging him off without knowing the facts is ignorant. If you want to slag anyone off - slag me ... (but remember to read the site rules thoroughly before you do ). For another thing ... the "wounds" you speak of have healed quite nicely with most people. It is only those clinging onto the past and not embracing the current history of the club who talk of re-opening old wounds ... the rest of us, IHE included, are intelligent enough to never forget the past, but to look to the future, and most of us are quite capable of talking or reading about the merger with ICT fans or fans of the founding clubs without resorting to petty jibes. As far as I am concerned ... all that publishing this has done is to allow those who frequently have asked for a copy of the book to be able to get one. The original book is there, and so is the updated version with the new chapter. If some want to take the opportunity and turn it into another anti-merger rant then that just proves that they are the ones living in the past..... and using this thread as an excuse for doing so. Move on FFS. If you dont like it, dont download it, its a personal choice ! IHE has made one of the better posts in this thread, and raises a valid point about dredging it up again. I can see your point about that ... and perhaps you are right to say that "many" do not want to know about the turbulent birth of the club, its entirely possible .... but I would counter by saying that many do ! How many threads do we see from people looking for a copy over the course of a year ? How many times has CB been asked the same question. It may not be into the thousands, but there is certainly a demand for it. The merger is past, it happened, and its now history .... We are now following ICT and it is the now and the future which is important. However, I personally believe it is right to give people the option of reading about our history so they can make themselves aware of it if they wish. As I said above, its a personal choice, its there to download if you wish to as much as it can be ignored if you dont want to read it .... its not a forced download and reading it is not a condition of membership .... so for anyone to say it should not be there is hypocrisy in my opinion.

ICT Legend - Gringo Jnr. !!!
Article written by Dave Wilson (Gringo) Many stories have been written over the years about the exploits of the travelling Gringo’s and their quest to support their favourite team. The journeys to and from the Highlands have clocked up thousands of miles and I dread to think what the final total is likely to be. Maybe that’s a challenge for me for when I get bored after retirement! (editors note: and an opportunity for us to post some embarrassing photos !). Its probably well known how I became involved with my support of ICT (in all its guises) but maybe not as well known how Jnr became bitten by the bug. In fact Jnr wasn’t the first of the Gringo offspring to venture into the ranks of the Caley support, his elder brother, affectionately known in some quarters as Techno Gringo (because of his expertise at computers, taking things apart and putting them back together again whether they were broken or not!) was the first. Even though Techno still ‘follows’ ICT he didn’t become as heavily involved as Jnr. In his school days Jnr was a typical lad who liked to follow successful teams. In Scotland young lads followed the likes of the Old Firm but down here in England it was your Liverpool’s, Man U’s and Arsenal’s with the occasional Barcelona, Ajax (remember them when they were a force?) and Real Madrid thrown in for good measure. Jnr was, in fact, a Man Utd fan and was probably the only Man U ‘fan’ at his school that actually went to Old Trafford. Albeit in the ‘away’ end with his Uncle but at least he went. He also did the tour of the stadium when Mrs Gringo took him and his pal. He cost me a fortune in Man U shirts and, when the trend came of putting players names on the back, I was kind of hoping he’d choose a short name (I was skint at the time and the costs of having shirts done was a rip off (still is) ) but, oh no, no such luck for me as he plumed for a goalkeeper shirt and wanted Schmeichel on the back of it. Ruddy kids. So why turn down the glamour of a club like United and follow Caley? I can honestly say I have no real idea as to why he what did he did and can also honestly say that there was no peer pressure from me (or his mother) to join the ranks. [caption id="attachment_4631" align="alignright" width="90" caption="click to enlarge"][/caption]I think he was about 14 years old, probably younger, when the bombshell went off. My reaction to his choice was one of mixed emotions and I had to take a reality check to see if I wasn’t still pished from the night before. He’d been asked by his Uncle if he’d like to go and watch Man Utd play at Coventry (0). Coventry City (0) played at Highfield Road at the time which is about three miles away from where he lived. We were all sat at home when the question was asked and his response was “No thanks, I want to go to Alloa with my dad to watch Caley”. To this day I still can’t believe he did that and also remember he never paused before answering the question – he just came out with the answer. So why turn down the chance to see superstars? As I said, you’d best ask him because I certainly haven’t got a clue. So he’s hooked now isn’t he? The team won 4-1 and all he wanted now was a replica shirt…and a scarf….a hat…pencil case….shorts…socks…..in fact almost everything in the friggin shop and his bedroom started to become a kind of shrine to his hero’s. There was no going back now and my wallet became emptier every time we went to a match, especially the home games. In fact it might have been frigging cheaper to go to Old Trafford! [caption id="attachment_4632" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="click to enlarge"][/caption]There have been many highlights supporting the team he loves and none more so than going to Parkhead to witness the infamous 3-1 game. That only came about after we managed to obtain permission off his headmaster at school to get the day off. His ‘forfeit’ for this was he had to write a report on the match for the class. I’d wager that the head’ was expecting Caley to get a right old stuffing and he wanted to see Jnr’s reaction to the disappointment by means of an essay. It took weeks for the grin to disappear from Jnr’s face and he took great pleasure in wearing his Caley shirt in the presence of the Celtic one’s…he still does. [caption id="attachment_4633" align="alignright" width="150" caption="click to enlarge"][/caption]From the highs to the lows he’s stuck with the team. The SFL Championship decider at Livingston was another famous event. Going 4-0 down in about 20 minutes saw the pain etched of the faces of both him and me and many others that day. Little did we know at the time that our mug shot would be plastered all over the papers during the following days. The caption read “THIS CALEY BE HAPPENING…..sheer disbelief is written across the faces of the travelling fans”. It was then revealed to the press as to where these travelling fans actually came from….Coventry. And the story was told again… He was very keen to become further involved with the club and very much wanted to play for then. To this end, at an end of season party at the Muirtown, (remember that?) he was seen chatting to Pele, Charlie and Barry Wilson and, unbeknown to me, he’d blagged himself a trial. This took place quite a while later and it was perhaps unfortunate that Pele and Duncan Shearer were not present at the time. However, Charlie Christie was in charge of the training session that day and he worked him hard in that session. Disappointingly for Jnr he never set the pitch alight that day but he remembers that day very well which was highlighted by the fact he curled one in to the top corner of Les Fridges goal. The celebration of the goal had many of the players applauding and, in particular, had Davide Xausa in stitches. The goal was recorded by me on VHS Tape but I have, unfortunately, not been able to locate it in time for this article. I’ve not given up though. [caption id="attachment_4639" align="alignleft" width="200" caption="click to enlarge"][/caption]And so, at the tender age of 27 it looks like he is going to fulfil a childhood dream and actually play on the same pitch as his hero’s of yesteryear. He will be turning out for the Caley Legends and will be in the same side as Charlie Christie, Barry Wilson, John Robertson, Jim Calder and Alan Hercher. It is very apt that he should be in the Legends side as he too is a Caley legend. Maybe this event will even surpass the highs of his Highland Marches which have become a phenomenon over the past few years and, perhaps, even his wedding at the stadium in September 2008. I’d have loved to have been there to witness his hat-trick and the goal celebrations that would inevitably follow, but, I will have to be content on knowing he will be enjoying the experience, even if he’s only on the pitch for five minutes, and the chances are he’ll be winding me for years to come with his jibes of “I’ve played for Caley…at Caley stadium” in much the same way as he wound me up when he moved to Inverness with his jibes of “Hi Dad….I’ve got a season ticket”. Enjoy the evening Jnr (you little git)

Fan cleared of Lennon assault !
I think you are splitting hairs !!! The police would have laid the initial charges and submitted them to the PFs office, the PFs office would have agreed/disagreed and decided to pursue it (or drop that part) and the lawyers would then have argued it on that basis ... in the end, perhaps it would have been better for me to say "the crown" over-reached !!! I do however agree with you on the "influence" of the government. whether anyone likes Lennon or not, and whether their reasons are based on sport, personality, or for some people, on blatant or even deep-rooted but hidden bigotry or religious hatred I think most sane people would agree that he did not deserve what was dished out to him last season. After the bullets and packages, this act - even though not related to all that went before - was just the cherry on top and someone had to get the book thrown at them so they could be seen to be acting ... this guy was in the firing line. I would also agree with you about 'pleading' ... after being in jail for 100+ days (and being back there again awaiting sentencing) he might think he would get out straight away if he could plead it away and get sentenced immediately. definitely a factor. Like I said, the more I read, the more I think the verdict was actually about right !!!! Not Proven is not guilty and not innocent ... and that fits almost perfectly ! I would also say that now the verdict has been handed down, he should not be languishing in jail awaiting a sentence for breach. He has already been in there for more than 3 months and whether you like the verdict or not, it has been issued and thats that. Did he commit breach of the peace? - yes. He admitted it and we have probably all seen folk arrested for "breach" - either in stadiums or on the street - for doing far less than a pitch invasion ! Did he commit assault? - Personally I say yes, but that may be based on me forming an opinion about his intent rather than the letter of the law. If you believe the accused, then yes he seems to confirm he did, but if, as you suggest, saying he was guilty was more like a "plea bargain" then reading all the various reports, it sounds like Lennon himself and perhaps Alan Thomson actually helped the defence when testifying for the prosecution. Lennon said he heard nothing and felt a slight blow on the back of his head, and Thomson admitted to grabbing the guy's clothing and putting him off balance ... if he is off balance and falling then he could not be purposely assaulting someone (and by the letter of the law there's even a chance Thomson could have been charged with assault by laying his hands on the guy - stupid though that is [have seen it happen with store employees trying to detain shoplifters]). Going by the report, the jury asked to see the video again during deliberations ... maybe this is why they said no to assault? I guess we will never know. Was it religiously motivated? - i think they were right to throw this out. no-one can prove it. Its a "he said -- he said" situation between the accused and the security guy and although the reports do make mention of the fact that the guy has previous for bad behaviour, there is nothing to suggest anything racially or religiously motivated. so all in all, a complete cluster**** of a case which could have gone away relatively quietly if the crown had accepted his guilty plea to the actual charges and not sought the premium sentence that a "religious" conviction would have brought because someone - anyone - had to pay for the treatment that Lennon received last season.

Transfer Activity
Think that is Terry's gameplan though .... The players he has brought in have been compared by him to Doran or Hayes ... and he will be hoping that those two injured players can resume their roles by Christmas and we wont need the loaners any more .... If it goes according to plan, then great, it means we just pay extra wages for as long as we need to, and the players themselves will likely be happy as they will get first team action then go back to their original clubs rather than sitting on our bench as backup. If the injuries dont subside, or the players are really good, better than what we already have, then hopefully we would be able to extend the loans in the next window .... win-win for everyone methinks.

Fan cleared of Lennon assault !
I guess we are both right !!! The BBC article says .... "The court had earlier heard that Wilson admitted breaching the peace and attacking Mr Lennon, but denied uttering a sectarian remark." ... it goes on to say "In his closing speech, defence advocate David Nicolson had told the jury that Wilson had earlier been willing to plead guilty to breach of the peace and assault under deletion of making a sectarian remark and being aggravated by religious prejudice, but the Crown had not accepted his plea." Also - The Record has this ... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2011/09/01/neil-lennon-tynecastle-attack-witnessed-by-millions-admitted-by-accused-yet-jury-sensationally-rules-thug-did-not-assault-neil-lennon-86908-23387667/ "Millions of TV viewers watched live as Hearts fan Wilson, 26, invaded the pitch at Tynecastle in May and charged towards Lennon on the sideline. The father of three conceded, to his own lawyer in open court, that he lunged at Lennon, struck him on the head and assaulted him. He even tried to plead guilty earlier in his trial to the assault - if prosecutors agreed to remove a claim that the attack was "aggravated by religious prejudice". Crown lawyers rejected his request. Before the jury retired, Wilson's lawyer David Nicolson specifically reminded them of his client's offer to plead guilty to assault. The panel of eight men and seven women were out for two-and-a-half hours. They asked during their deliberations to look again at a video of Wilson's pitch invasion, which was shown on TV all over the world. But when the jury returned to court, there was stunned silence when they cleared Wilson completely of attacking Lennon. They convicted the jobless labourer only of breach of the peace, after deleting the part of the charge which alleged that offence was aggravated by religious prejudice. Wilson, of Edinburgh, was found guilty of conducting himself in a disorderly manner, running on to the pitch, running at the away dugout, shouting, swearing, causing disturbance to the crowd and breaching the peace. The jury could also have found Wilson guilty of assault, after deleting the allegation of religious prejudice in that charge. They did not do so." Further on it says .... "Tynecastle security manager Peter Croy told the jury he heard Wilson call Lennon a "fenian b******". Wilson denied it, insisting he called the Ulsterman a "f****** w****r"."

Fan cleared of Lennon assault !
As mentioned in my previous post, I have read reports that the guy was prepared to plead to the breach charge, and also to the assault charge if the cops would drop the religious tag on them ... they would not, so he pled not guilty. The more I read, the more it sounds like the cops over-reached on the charges and just could not prove them. they werent prepared to let go of the religious tag in the charge so the case was not proven. In my eyes, it was definitely an assault, and I think most would agree .... but there is no way any of us can say for sure it was religiously motivated. It might have been, it might not have been so perhaps, not-proven is actually the correct verdict !
