Clachnacuddin 1-6 Inverness CT (FT)
with no live radio this season, someone texting a forum user from the ground will be most acceptable

Clach Roll Call.....
yeah - if anyone can give us lineups / score / scorers we can add it into our results page and feel like the football has finally started .

Quietly Confident
ok, we are being dragged way off topic here. Glory hunting is not the topic in this thread, nor is debating moderation decisions (that can be done via PM).

Sfl Prediction League
I am currently updating the Prediction League Pages located here and will also be updating the software to the latest version in the next day or two: http://predictions.caleythistleonline.com/index.php. This prediction League should not be confused with Gringo's NPL prediction League which takes place on the forums and takes account of ICT matches only ... this one is a software based prediction league that allows you to battle each other to see who can be best at predicting the outcome on all SFL League 1 games over the season. Last year it was an SPL Prediction League but this year, as we are in SFL1, its an SFL Prediction League ! If you were in it last year, and predicted more than 15 games, your registration is still valid and you can login to join the SFL 09/10 league and start predicting (see screenshot at the bottom which will show last year's winners and the currently valid accounts). If you werent in it before, and want to try your hand, or you were registered before but didnt make enough predictions you will need to register or re-register as the user database has been cleaned up for this season. The login for this part of the site is separate to your forum login so you do need to create an account if you dont already have one. As with previous years, we have added the first few weeks of fixtures into it and also added bonus points for these games. There are 10 bonus points up for grabs in each match of the first 4 weeks plus 25 bonus points for the first ICT V County game for predicting a correct result. Scoring in the game is as follows: 5 Points for predicting the correct number of goals by at least one team. 5 Points for predicting the correct number of goals for the home team. 5 Points for predicting the correct number of goals for the away team. 25 Points for a correct score. i.e. you predict 3-1 and the result is 3-1. 10 Point for a correct result. You predict 1-1, the score is 2-2. 0 Points for a incorrect result. i.e. you predict 3-1 and the result is 1-3. Goal Difference For each correct teams number of goals you score, you receive that number of +goals. e.g. you predict 2 and the team scores 2, you get +2 goals. For each incorrect number of goals you predict per team, you lose the difference in goals. e.g. you predict 3 and the team scores 2, you get -1 goals. LAST YEARS FINAL TABLE

Trialists...
edited my post since you quoted me, but dont think you are being very fair in using your insider knowledge to slag off someone else who is quoting from a legitimate article albeit one that is now out of date despite only being published today. The situation sounds like it has improved from that article so that is good.

Trialists...
Guys - just because you have closer knowledge of this and the situation may have changed over the space of a few days, its a bit unfair to slag someone off for quoting from a legitimate article that was in a paper (or website) that tends to get things right .... : http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1296068

What Do You Think?
These sorts of numbers are all extremely subjective ...... Is Inverness really only 65000? Or do you count those who live within a certain radius of the TCS? The "footprint of Inverness may only be a certain size and the census info may say the city has 65K of a population but you are comparing apples to oranges when you start comparing areas of differing geographical sizes, demographics, travelling times etc. Are we also to assume that all fans of all teams come from somewhere local ? The makeup of users on this site and - you would assume - sites for other teams would suggest otherwise. some of our most fervent fans, even those who moved to the area from elsewhere rather than those that travel from afar on a matchday would not be included in the 65K population ........ Bottom line - we ARE a big team, if you believe that we are a big team, but we are by no means the biggest team and never will be.

Sound Familiar?
apart from the "incredible success" quote, it sounds scarily familiar.

Maybe they could negotiate a box of training tops for every week that Errea are late with their orders

What Do You Think?
Its all relative ..... To an OF supporter we are - and always will be - a diddy team, minnows, small team, whatever moniker you want to stick on it. To (realistic) supporters of a team like Falkirk, St Johnstone, St Mirren, Dunfermline etc we should be classed as similar is stature but to teams like Elgin, Albion Rovers, Clach, Ross County etc we will probably always be a big team !!! Would agree with the assertion that last year we were a small fish in the big pond and this year we are one of the big fishes in the smaller pond. Having said that, ICT could be in the 3rd division and it wouldnt matter to me, they would still be my big team ... despite the fact that I now go to watch TFC who play in front of 20,000+ for every game, make more noise than ICT ever have and who could - if MLS rules allowed it - afford to sign just about any player they choose outwith the likes of KaKa, Ronaldo or other stupidly "high value" players.

Busy Summer For Hastings
The rivalry with Seattle (and Toronto) will be a far more significant factor than David Beckham trust me !!! Beckham brings nothing to this league other than curiosity factor and that has worn off big style since his sojourn to Milan this year. Even his own "fans" (and colleagues like Landon Donovan) in LA have turned on him. With regards to RH - I just cant see a 34 year old left back (as he would be then) who may have been born in BC but has pretty much lived his life in the UK uprooting himself to play a year or two at most in BC for an emerging team who will have younger talent available. Its a sentimental thought, but probaby no more than that.

Busy Summer For Hastings
He may be Canadian by birth but he has spent most of his life in the UK ... not sure he would finish his career in Canada ... but we will see. Anyhoo - Canada won 1-0 last night with Toronto FC's Ali Gerba scoring the only goal of the game late on, and Greg Sutton (an unattached goalkeeper as mentioned in another thread) making some great saves to keep them in it. Richard was seen briefly on TV warming up on the sidelines but didnt make it onto the park.
-
Goalkeeper
After watching Canada V Jamaica last night, we could do worse than offer Greg Sutton a deal ! Sutton is unattached right now after being released by Toronto FC .... and was only released because TFC had to make room in their wage structure for incoming outfield players.

New Owners For Clach
I have removed a post from this thread until the moderators make a ruling on it. Can we please not let this thread descend into unfounded, and potentially defamatory allegations against named individuals which the person posting is unlikely to be able to prove first hand.

Busy Summer For Hastings
In the last dozen or so Internationals he has been a central defender and has done reasonably well. Dont recall him playing in midfield
-
Other Transfers In Scotland
Dundee released Chris Pozniak, he is expected to sign back up in Toronto as 'cover' by the end of the week.

Busy Summer For Hastings
our first game is the Alba Cup on 25th so he could miss that one if Canada reach the final which is not unheard of ....
-
A Message For Morais
this thread will definitely make him want to stay ... called Phil Morias instead of Filipe Morais, then spoken to in French instead of Portuguese ... we sure know our star players

Busy Summer For Hastings
Looks like Richard Hastings will have a busy summer ...... he played the full 90 minutes in Canada's 1-0 win over Cyprus in Larnaca on 30th May [REPORT] and came on for the second half in last night's 3-0 friendly win over Guatemala in California. New Toronto FC striker Ali Gerba scored twice for the Canadians [REPORT]. The friendly was the final warm up game in preparation for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup that starts tomorrow in Los Angeles ..... Canada will play Jamaica tomorrow in the opening game of the tournament in Carson, California, then El Salvador on the 7th in Columbus Ohio and Costa Rica on the 10th in Miami. The QFs are on the 18th/19th in Philadelphia and Dallas, the semis on the 23rd in Chicago and the final on the 26th in New Jersey. Its 3 groups of 4 with the top 2 teams going through from each group plus 2 of the 3rd placed teams so Canada must have a chance of reaching the QFs at least ..... ohh..... and Richard makes an appearance on the front page of the Canadian Soccer Association website !

Mike Smith
The person who started this thread felt targetted too .... He is willing to forgive (but not forget I would imagine) so as I am in a positive mood this week my final comment on this thread will be to encourage you to draw a line in the sand, look forward from it instead of backwards and do the same. You have made your point long and loud about "the muppets", and many have sat up and taken notice. As one of the "nutters" you do have some influence on some of our supporters in a "pied piper" kind of fashion (maybe Pie-Eyed Piper ) so why not use that influence to get as many as you can behind the club, players and officials. Not saying you should stay quiet when things arent right, nor should you stop being vigilant, but we need everyone pulling in the same direction this season if we are to stand a chance of bouncing back up. As you say .... Bring on the SFL ..... (even if we wont hear it on the radio)

Mike Smith
Yeah, he will be the line manager for all non-football staff but not (I assume) for the players and/or directors so he doesnt have total control. I was just pointing out to you that in the two areas you highlighted, he may have little or no direct control so its hardly fair to ask what he has done in those areas. What has he achieved? Well he did achieve something quite substantial .... he wound you up so much he got you chucked out Seriously though, as someone heavily involved in trying to make sure our finances are kept in check over the last few years, read this article and pay particular reference to the paragraph that says "Inverness and Falkirk operated with no debt during the same accounting period." : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/s...rem/8114799.stm To me, that is an achievement. If he can do the same again this season, it wont be an achievement it will be a feckin miracle on the 5 loaves & 2 fishes scale !!!!

Can We Compete With Dundee?
:clapping03: - last season none of us knew that !

Mike Smith
sombody should be ... not sure that should be him. As Chief Exec we never had anyone officially in that role before MS to compare him with .... but now he is "general manager" I would think that this covers the stadium, staff, and other parts of the business. I think I can safely say that none of the previous "general managers" I had dealings with over the years were media officers or fan liaison. Both of those positions (such as they were) emanated from the boardroom with Bill M doing the media and various directors being assigned fan liaison over those years. I dealt with a number of people over the years and the best two - Kenny Cameron, and Ken Thomson were both either board members or asked to do it by board members.

Captain Next Season
Personally - unless you have a "leader" who is head and shoulders above all the others for the role - I would favour a centre half or defensive central midfielder as opposed to a forward or left/right sided player as I think the captain should be someone who can see the game happening all around him. As we dont seem to have a Bobby Mann or Darren Dods type figure in the team who is miles ahead of anyone in terms of leadership, I will therefore be happy with whoever the manager picks as he will base it not just on what we see on the park but likely on what he sees around him in day to day club life. Given Butcher's own leadership qualities as both a player and as a manager I think he will make the right choice. I would be happy to see Granty continue in the role, but if it were Rosscoe, or the choice that I selected which was Russell Duncan I wouldnt be too unhappy.
