  1. try YEARS ago. The SPL have a 'fixture skeleton' and 'golden rules' that are applied to fixtures. Unfortunately, these dont work very well when you are trying to split the fixtures fairly !!! I see two SPL headaches as far as ICT fixtures are concerned. In 05/06 we played 18 home and 20 away (2H-3A after the split) so we should get 20 home and 18 away this season as its supposed to balance out over 2 seasons. However, this season we have played 17 home and 16 away so another season with 2 homes and 3 aways would give us a perfect 19-19 split over the season but a 37-39 split over two seasons. so do they go for the 19-19 this season (which is the aim each year) or 38-38 over two seasons (which is fair). (headache #1) The fixtures themselves should be easy to work out as the same teams are in the bottom 6 this year as were there last year (except Livi / St Mirren). Again, over the course of two seasons, the fixtures are supposed to work out as even as possible and although we have played most at home/away twice each year there are a couple where its 3-1 or 1-3. Motherwell - 05/06=2H-2A, 06/07=1H-2A (3H-4A over two seasons) ----- prediction HOME Dundee Utd - 05/06=2H-2A, 06/07=2H-1A (4H-3A over two seasons) ----- prediction AWAY Dunfermline - 05/06=1H-3A, 06/07=2H-1A (3H-4A over two seasons) ----- prediction HOME Falkirk - 05/06=2H-2A, 06/07=2H-1A (4H-3A over two seasons) ----- prediction AWAY St Mirren - 05/06=N/A, 06/07=2H-1A - if the SPL go for a 19-19 split of games for this season then this should be AWAY. However, if the SPL look at 05/06 and use games V Livi to do the 2 season total (V Livi in 05/06 was 1H-3A) then this may be a HOME fixture giving us a total of 38 home and 38 away over two seasons........ (headache #2) Prediction : SPL to make it an AWAY fixture and our list to look like this (and in this order based on fixture order of first 33 games) 1. V St Mirren (A) 2. V Motherwell (H) 3. V Dundee Utd (A) 4. V Dunfermline (H) 5. V Falkirk (A)
  2. comments in the Courier seem to show he is learning ....... FULL ARTICLE QUOTE FROM COURIER The loss has deflated manager Christie and left him questioning the quality of his players. “I’ve had a lot more experienced guys in my office telling me not to get too despondent,” said Christie. “I take the whole thing on my shoulders and I sometimes take too much responsibility whereas I haven’t passed the buck onto the players at all, but the players have to take responsibility for performances like that — there’s no doubt. They like to take the plaudits when they get it, so let them bare a bit of the brunt of it alongside myself for a change and it’s not often you’ll hear me say things like that.” Christie described it as a crux period for the club and said that it was not enough that the players only perform at their best when they meet tough opposition. He revealed that he has spoken to former Caley Thistle boss Steve Paterson — currently manager at Peterhead — about how Inverness can progress and agreed that he may need to be more ruthless in doing so. “I’ve been exceedingly loyal to this group of players and if anyone in the changing room says otherwise then they’re not telling the truth and I would be disappointed,” said Christie. “I think it is a crux for the club and we need to look at things and how we take it forward because we aspire to the top six, but sometimes I do wonder if we have enough quality to get ourselves in there?”
  3. The club have asked us to publicise the following information. Please note that the above game is ALL TICKET Strathclyde Police have REFUSED to allow Rangers to sell tickets to ICT fans from their ticket office on the day of the game (which Rangers have done in the past) and so anyone wishing to attend the game on 31/3/07 MUST purchase their ticket(s) in advance from ICT ticket office.
  4. The blurring of boundaries is a common trap in management (in any business) when you have worked your way up from the 'shop floor' and then find yourself in a position of responsibility. Charlie spent many years as just another one of the lads, playing his football, getting on with the Centenary Club business and getting the craic with players and staff alike. He is now suddenly in charge of the most visible portion of the club (albeit by choice) and in this situation it can be difficult both for the manager and 'his staff' to be aware of the clear demarcation between past and present roles. The fact that he is in the public eye makes it even harder. Some players (and staff) may respect the fact that he has worked his way up from the bottom and has been there, done that, pulled all the dodges etc, whereas others may think its still an old pals act and not pull their weight, and yet others may think that he is just a local boy who has no profile on the national stage. I think we have seen the signs of this on the park at times and in comments from posters on here. From Charlie's point of view, it must also be difficult ... he may still want to be one of the lads, but he also has to be manager and those two roles cannot always co-exist. He has long standing relationships with many people at the club and his new role has changed those relationships whether he likes it or not. Does he become a complete b****** and rule with an iron fist ? or does he become a pushover where certain players (pals) are concerned ? Its a very hard line to walk and I sympathise with this problem as I have experienced it in my own business life. It took me a long time to adjust my style to one which I feel comfortable with and I went through both personas I described above during that time (complete b***** / pushover) before finally managing to get it somewhere in the middle which works for me. Charlie has ICT running through his veins, he wants to win every game, and like most of us he gets severely p***** off when that doesnt happen. For those of us who watched him as a player, or who know him in person we know just how much he wants to win and how passionate/emotional he can get about that ... does anyone remember his interview on Radio Scotland after the Feb8 match ? (he was furious that ICT were 18-1 to win and used it as motivation), or the many occasions on the park where he clearly showed frustration when things werent going right. At the end of the day I do not believe CC has ever sent out a team which he thought would lose but as with anyone who is alive, he is human, he is fallible, and he makes mistakes. Unlike most people however, who can f*** up with relative anonymity, he must do all of this in the public eye at the stadium and in the national press. Despite threads where I have criticised our current form, or questioned certain decisions or media comments, I am still behind CC 100%. I think he can continue to grow as a manager and if he can begin to feel comfortable in the role things will fall into place. Perhaps he does need a mentor - the 'NAME' as IHE suggested - someone who could help him, who has contacts that Charlie may not, and who could also perhaps fill a role as PR spokesperson for the club as it does seem abundantly clear that Charlie is not comfortable with the (national) media aspect of his role. Talking to Paul Chalk, Charles Bannerman et all is fine as he has known them for a long time and there is a level of trust there, but the national media is a different beast as we are all aware. As to his comments in the dressing room that "I could walk away in the summer" .... I am in agreement with Kencar .... From this comment and other recent ones in the press - like the two i used in the match report for Saturday's game - I believe he may be realising that he has been too lenient on certain players that are part of the 'old pals' group and is telling them that the old pals act is out the window and if someone else were manager they simply would not tolerate it .... and neither will he from now on. It is a clear "shape up or ship out" message. I for one am delighted that he (allegedly) 'read the riot act' to the team after Saturday's performance. If I am right (and I concede that this could all be a croc of **** if I am not), then he has learned lessons from recent weeks where performances were not acceptable, where tactics were perhaps questionable, where media comments were taken out of context and where 'in context' comments were made that perhaps shouldnt have been. while I dont want him to make any mistakes, that is not realistic. However if, as it seems from this weeks comments, he is learning from them then he will continue to have my support.
  5. i think they do Gringo - Charlie has certainly made reference to stuff posted on the boards before and my guess is that many from the management side, playing side and admin side regularly keep an eye on what's being posted on here... In fact I'd be more than surprised if they didn't..... There are quite a number of usernames registered from the stadium, some contribute to the discussions on the site or post info, and some just lurk :wave01: ... As many know, when he was commercial manager CC would post every month with results of the Centenary Club so he is no stranger to the site. I also know that if there is a particularly "juicy" thread, it tends to get printed off and passed around some of the stadium staff !!! Site users may be responsible for starting some of the more controversial talking points, but despite some suggestions to the contrary, it would appear that the news of this 'resignation threat' emanated from a well trodden 'leak path' from the stadium and not from anywhere or anyone on here.
  6. how exactly does one do this? PC with TV capture card and relevant software ...... Alternatively, perhaps the BBC could make it available to CaleyThistleOnline or to the club and it can be put on here and/or the official site ? ..... over to you and your BBC contacts Charles :004:
  7. We may not have a god given right, but we should at least be competing ....... we have shown we can do that against the so called big teams so why cant we do it against teams that are at (or even below) our level this season ??? first set of 11 games - LDDDLWDDWWW 4 wins - Motherwell, Dunfermline, Rangers & Falkirk 5 draws - Aberdeen, Hibs, Celtic, Dundee Utd, Kilmarnock 2 defeats - St Mirren, Hearts 17 points A good start to the season with the exception of an opening day defeat to St Mirren. A huge win against Rangers and creditable draws against the likes of Aberdeen, Celtic and Hibs gave the early season a distinct 'feelgood factor'. second set of 11 games - DDLLDLLLDWL 1 win - Rangers 4 draws - St Mirren, Aberdeen, Hearts, Dunfermline 6 defeats - Hibs, Celtic, Motherwell, Dundee Utd, Kilmarnock, Falkirk 7 points A terrible set of games with the exception of another win against Rangers and draws with Hearts and Aberdeen. A run of 9 games without a win obliterated the early season 'feelgood factor'. third set of 11 games - WDWLLLWLL?? 3 wins - St Mirren, Hibs, Dundee Utd 1 draw - Aberdeen 5 defeats - Celtic, Hearts, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Dunfermline 10 points 2 games left - Rangers & Falkirk Better than our second set of games, with 3 games undefeated to start this set, but the worrying thing is that we have lost 5 of our last 6 games and the game we did win was 'stolen' right at the death ....... as we have seen, any feelgood factor still remaining from the early part of the season has all but disappeared. As far as I am concerned, the league is split into 3 or 4 groups 1 - teams where we dont expect anything so any points are a bonus (CELTIC [DLL], RANGERS [WW]) - 7 points from 15 = excellent 2 - teams where we have a chance of a result but they are 'bigger' than us (ABERDEEN [DDD], HEARTS [LDL]) - 4 points from 15 = acceptable 3 - teams we should be competing with on the park if not off the park and where results can go either way on any given day (DUNDEE UTD [WLD], HIBS [WLD], KILMARNOCK [LLD], MOTHERWELL [LLW]) - 12 points from 36 = could/should be better 4 - teams who have not been performing this season and who we should be beating regularly, especially at home (ST MIRREN [WDL], FALKIRK [LW], DUNFERMLINE [LDW]) - 11 points from 24 = must do better if we are not to be relegation fodder.
  8. We constantly bang on about the club not doing anything to encourage fans to come along and when they actually do it we bang on about how its not fair ..... Truth of the matter is, the club have always had some form of 'free child' or 'reduced entry fee' promotion towards the end of every season to try and encourage more people along and its just that ... a promotion, a marketing tool, a gimmick. Its not the whole season, its one game or maybe two towards the end of a season so deal with it .... I accept that those who bought child season tickets at the start of the season may feel that they are justified in complaining that their child is not able to take advantage of this kind of promotion, but thats life - you see it every day in other ways .... for example "get a free phone when you sign up to this deal or that deal .... and in the small print it usually reads 'for new account activations only' " ...... A child season ticket is £130, £80, or £60 depending on which one was purchased, and assuming the lowest possible number of home games (18) that works out at £7.22, £4.44, or £3.33 per game as opposed to £20, £15, or £7 for regular 'pay at the gate' entry prices so its a pretty **** good reduction and more than makes up for letting a few kids in for free in an end of season game or two. For those that have a child season ticket, dont forget you have also had a guaranteed seat for every league game, you have had priority for cup games and you are also entitled to discount at the club shop ....... the club don't do everything right, but I don't think we can fault them for continuing a promotion like this that has been a regular (and therefore forseeable) event come the end of the season.
  9. sounds like it was the linesman who made more of a balls of the penalty claim than the ref. we lost because Dunfermline wanted it more not because of the ref - we were already beaten before that bizarre decision.
  10. Robson Hat-Trick for Arabs V Hearts .... Arabs 4-0 up at Tynecastle
  11. Markus Paatelainen gets his second in two games .... 1-0 ICT :021: :021: :021: Rangers 3 up on the Dons :010: :010:

  13. The scary part is wondering what the **** Yogi was doing at a university ..... did he have a set of ladders and a chamois ??
  14. 3-6 months ago I would have agreed with you and I was also one of those calling for him to be dumped when he showed his petulance in the Falkirk game. HOWEVER, from what posters have said here over the last few weeks, it appears that he is in the process of learning his lesson and has shown he can turn the other cheek and let the ref deal with things that wind him up ... not all the time, but at least he has shown that a few times which suggests there is hope ;). He hasnt deserved every booking he has received, some were on reputation alone, but if he can work on reducing the stupid bookings then he would be the very first name on most people's teamsheets every week. Because he appears to be trying to control his petulance he is definitely worthy of a place in our squad and I would reverse the question .... can we afford NOT to have him ... especially when we lose Dods and maybe Dargo and one or two others ?
  15. Think Kencar was saying it might be 1000 less, not 1000 in total !!! I did a bit of analysis .... our average gate for the season so far is 4849 for our first round of home games (11) and 5052 for the second round of home games (4 so far with probably 3 more to come in total - this weeks game V Pars and likely 2 at home after the split). When you take out the old firm, that drops to 4276 (1st rd) and 4241 (2nd rd) so it works out to a drop of around 636 per game over the course of a season if you take out the OF. Over the course of the season we are currently 3.12% down on last season and that rises to 6.99% when you exclude the OF so it suggests people are definitely picking and choosing games and deciding to give some games a miss !!! There are a couple of anomalies that you could point to - we are nearly 20% down on attendance Vs Aberdeen but our one home game this season was moved to a night game and our 2 games against Hibs this year attracted nearly 35% less than the single game last season ... but that one was on Boxing Day so maybe more folk were around and available ....
  16. In the National Hockey League there are always 3 points up for grabs ..... A win in normal time = 3 Pts A draw = 1 pt each same as SPL football so far ..... However, if teams are drawing at full time they play a short period of extra-time and then end with a shootout if no-one has won it in extra-time. The winner gets an additional point for a total of 2 with the eventual loser retaining the 1 pt they got for the draw ...... It does seem to work quite well, but not sure I am a fan of it
  17. When I'm designing a PC for myself or for someone else I always start with the motherboard, that way everything is narrowed down for you I guess you could go either way - depends on whether your heart is set on a particular CPU or not - When researching, I usually start with the mobo as well unless the person I am building it for wants something in particular. (I like ASUS boards) I wouldnt even look at a Dell - for reasons specified earlier ... ie. bloated amount of 'free' software, and the lack of a separately provided OS - our work PCs are all high-end HP workstations and they are pretty good. I havent decided what I am going to get yet for my own system. Quad-core is now available but way over-priced for the performance boost when compared to dual-core so I may look to get a good mobo that has enough versatility that the components (esp CPU) can be upgraded later. The ASUS P5 range is looking good right now.
  18. try searching for 'shadow boxes' ... thats what they are called. I bought a few over here recently from a local craft shop and am going to frame about half a dozen tops in the end, (including a signed matchday shirt from 8/2/2000) :003: these links may help a little http://www.coxandcox.co.uk/acatalog/Shadow_Box.html http://www.frameco-online.com/shopuk/
  19. This is in American dollars and may not be the best solution for everyone but as I am currently pricing out components for a new computer system I will be building, I found it interesting ...... http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2014424,00.asp
  20. These two guys may look similar - but the faces are different and also looking different ways so not a cut-n-paste job ... or at least not a simple one. They do appear to be wearing similar tops, and although I cant make out the writing on it, it appears that it might be one of those 'hats, scarves, and macaroon bars' kind of dodgy merchandise with some iron-on transfer that you might pick up outside the ground so not unusual for more than one person to be wearing it. [attach=1]<--->[attach=2] These people also appear to look similar but not exact. again, similar clothes and stance might make you doubt the picture, but i still think its genuine -- on the getty site its amongst dozens of pictures taken by the same photographer at the game and they tend to bulk upload pics to sell them freelance and time is of the essence. you can always manage to slip in the '3 rings' of wedded bliss ........... the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffer-ring :015: :015:
  22. ICT have decided to let kids under 16 into the North Stand (home), South Stand (away) and uncovered areas of the main stand for FREE this weekend .......... There will be no reduction in the normal adult admission prices for these areas which is Adult £20 / Concession (student/oap) £15 but kids can obtain a voucher from the ticket office that they can redeem at the turnstile for free admission. (note: kids who are U-12 need to be accompanied by an adult). If you have any queries about this, please direct them to the ticket office rather than website admin. (tickets@ictfc.co.uk) EDIT: The voucher has now been made available on the OFFICIAL SITE and we have also attached a downloadable copy to this posting for your convenience [attach=1]
  23. dont think its altered getty images is a well known image provider (http://editorial.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx) linesman is crouching (looking along the line as Nakamura takes the corner perhaps) fans are in focus, player, ball and linesman less-so
  24. yup - my thinking exactly.
  25. go HERE - zoom in and there are a couple of pubs shown. One is the Innes Bar - well known haunt of a few of the posters on here - and the other is the Caley Club. Getting to the Caley Club is a little easier than Google would have you believe as there IS a footbridge that takes you from Bank Street to Greig Street !!! Note - The Innes doesnt always let away fans in (depends on the teams if you know what I mean !!). It also doesnt allow kids after the games owing to the fact that it doesnt serve food on a weekend, however it is a favourite haunt of a few from on here and someone will probably know better than me if Dunfermline fans are allowed.
