  1. I believe its around 60-70k per place. Every team is guaranteed a certain amount regardless of position, and the percentage 'bonus' increases with each higher league placing. Not sure if the exact figures are in the public domain anywhere, but cant see it being less .... maybe the team got a bonus for finishing higher ?

    POTY

knew I forgot to do something yesterday ..... couldnt remember what it was !!! will get it online later tonight
  3. My understanding is yes, thats how it needs to finish ..... Top two teams in SPL qualify for Champions League (Celtic, Hearts). If one of them also wins the cup (Hearts ?), then because they are already in the CL, the cup runners up (Gretna ?) get one of our two uefa cup places and the team that finished 3rd (Rangers) will get the other. Because Hibs finished ahead of us and also applied for Intertoto they will get the qualifying spot not us. If Rangers were still to finish 2nd, which now looks unlikely, then Hearts would get UEFA spot as cup winners (if they won it !!) and Hibs would get 2nd spot .... we would then get into Intertoto.
  4. So long as it doesnt appear on these pages, I cant control what files you send to each other 8)
  5. I think you will find Charles was being 'tongue in cheek' and chose a significant date in history rather than the true date of formation.

    Who now?

Gotta be United for me ... with Brewsters latest comments i took more pleasure from their result today than I did from our own !!!!
  7. if thats a recent pic you are looking well Jock !!
  8. added them in the list but hadnt clicked on 'add' to add them to the poll ... D'oh
  9. mmm, i was sure i did add them .... let me check , maybe i had a brain fart
  10. I really dont care who gets the job either ...... Let me make this clear, this is not an 'anti-English' thing, its a complete loathing for England as a 'team' in football. I have no problem with 99.9% of English people. I know loads of people from south of the border, I am friends with many, I lived there for a while and I now regularly drink in an 'English' Pub here in Toronto ...... Like TM4TJ my indifference over how England do in the World Cup is born of media hype. You can only take so much 1966 garbage rammed down your throat at every opportunity, or comments from some of the older commentators about 'jocks', or talk about how great the side is and how it is going to win every competition it enters or how badly done by they were when knocked out ..... you can only take so much of Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish athletes and sportsmen being called 'British' by the media when succesfull while English athletes/sportsmen are always 'English' unless they fail when they suddenly become British. I have no connection to Ireland / Wales but I have no problem cheering on Northern Ireland, Eire or Wales (unless playing Scotland) ... nor do I have any issues with supporting a 'Great Britain' team such as the British Lions in Rugby, UK athletes at the Olympics, or UK and European golfers in the Ryder Cup etc .... I also like to see Canada do very well in any sport as i live there ... but because of years of aural abuse by a small band of commentators I cannot bring myself to support the England Football Team.
  11. Skydome, Toronto .... (oops, I mean 'Rogers Centre' now that they renamed it) .... or perhaps they can be the opposition for opening of the new 'soccer' stadium that is supposed to be built in the next year or two just west of the Rogers' Centre & Air Canada centre Although, to be fair, the best place to watch them is at the likes of Recreation Park or other small grounds where the action is only a few feet away .... maybe not glamorous for the players or fans, but you feel closer to the action.
  12. TM4TJ .....
  13. Ok - the Toronto Tornadoes have applied 8)

  16. I have backed Charlie from the start and will continue to do so .... I think he is the right man for the job and with Donald Park at his side I think the board have got it right once more. CC & DP will prove to be a great blend of 'youth' (in managerial terms) and experience .... I will however agree with anyone on either side of the arguments that says it is way too early to judge him (in either direction) on a few results and this conversation might be more authoritatively discussed this time next year ... Given that the club took a risk in appointing untried managers with John Robertson, and Craig Brewster, one thing that I would imagine preyed heavily on the minds of the board was getting a manager who would not **** off at the first chance to a 'bigger' team or one where he had a previous connection as a player or coach. I suppose that CC might be tempted were he to be offered the Celtic job, but with no disrespect to CC that is unlikely to happen at this stage (if ever). That now leaves us with a manager with a tremendous and long standing committment to the club who will hopefully take us to greater and greater heights and I for one am quite happy with that !!!
  17. The SPL have issued a press release regarding the Under soil heating arrangements at Love Street ... perhaps now this will mean we can have a peaceful summer and that the division 1 champions can come up without incident for a change ...... [attachment deleted by admin]
  18. WooHoo - for once I did more miles than Gringo in a season !! - was looking at my 'aeroplan miles' statement last night and my trip was 8254 miles overall ... (7200+ for Toronto - London and back, and 1000 for London - Inverness and back)
  19. I believe Lex Gold was at last weeks game .... Martin O'Neil came to watch us in Alloa, Gazza played against us at Tannadice Ian Wright played against us at Celtic Park Kenny Dalglish went golfing
  20. I dont think it is a closed shop ! .... If you can join it, then quite simply it is not a closed shop. I have been accused for years of running a 'closed shop' website, and I use the exact same argument to debunk these claims. The 'members' club' on the other hand was a closed shop after the first couple of seasons and there was absolutely no way for new supporters/season ticket holders to become a 'member'.... I may not have agreed with the 'closed shop' aspect of it, but I understand why it was the case. It good to see the various official supporters organisations, including the aforementioned members' club come together under this umbrella that anyone can join if they choose to. Having been involved in numerous local and national committees over the years in both Football and Pool including the ICT Official Supporters Club, then you quickly realise that you have to do things for your members first and foremost and only for other interested parties if it is possible. If there are costs involved in membership or for 'event entry' then you may give members reduced rates etc. This is normal practice. Giving non-members an opportunity to become part of the organisation by joining is entirely acceptable and as the Trust are saying you can join on the night then I dont see it as closed to anyone ....... Add to that the fact that the trust have already said that they are there for any fan, member or not, to raise concerns or grievances they may have with the club that the trust will (if appropriate) raise on their behalf and I think they are certainly trying to be inclusive.
  21. I know where your coming from Jamesie ... I think Aus and NZ 'viewers' have to go through the same hassle as potential viewers in North America. In fact, although you have to get over a few hassles in the USA to get OF coverage (i believe), nothing at all is available domestically in Canada ...... yet every saturday I can usually watch up to 3 live games in a row (SKY games) on a non subscription channel (sportsnet) .... Spurs/Arsenal, and Newcastle/WBA last weekend for example if 'regular' guys at internetfootball can broadcast games over the internet with only minor hassles, surely Setanta can grab some cash from us ex-pats for a similar but higher quality service ???
  22. would we be cruel enough to suggest she joins 'Yompa' on HM4 ? would she make it to the Kessock Bridge roundabout ? or maybe the A96 roundabout ? or shock, horror, as far as the top of Drumossie Brae ? or would Yompa push her into traffic long before then .....
  23. If we did it season by season I would have pretty impressive totals ... but since my move over the pond its not so good ...... League 1/35 .... and thats it although it was a 7000 mile round trip to get to it !!! although thanks to Radio Scotland Online I have been there in spirit for 'most' of the games .....
  24. in DiaL's case it was worse ..... PARENTS were involved :(
