A96 - you are so right !!! The baths themselves had character ... and a few characters as well !!! My memories of the baths ....... ...Getting your 'swim pass' from school - the little paper card that was stamped each time you went ...The smell of chlorine - was that much legal ? ...The wooden changing room doors and the metal baskets ...The staff - I got on well with most because my uncle (Donnie Ross) worked there but still got the whistle treatment and the crinkly hands test ...The chicken soup after a swim ...Walking down the riverside towards the Greig St Bridge with soaking wet hair after the chicken soup - it always seemed to be windy and 'Suzy' almost always seemed to be around and of course we would goad her to chase us while brandishing her umbrella ... by the time we got to Greig St we were ready to goad Willie Bell as well .... always made sure we got home pretty quick :015: ... Walking down the little street (cant remember name) where the telephone exchange is/was (when we didnt go down the riverside) and stopping to look at the house where the old guy made the Targes and had them in the window ...

not exactly sure what you are asking ? basically - a press release is typed IN FULL by the user. The system DOES NOT insert anything into your press release.

Considering DS already gives money to things like the Highland Games, Shinty, and other sports then maybe its a way of formalising all the various Tulloch/DS donations under a trust .... it probably benefits all concerned because of tax benefits .... also the phrase "we hope there will eventually be further financial backers" bodes well if someone else wants to become involved.

Change at helm as new Sports Trust is set for shares control David Sutherland will step down as chairman of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC as construction company Tulloch, principal shareholders of the Inverness club, seeks to transfer its shareholding to a new Inverness Sports Trust. The changes will take effect from the club's AGM in August. Mr Sutherland's successor at the helm of the SPL club will be Alan Savage, founder and chairman of Inverness-based international recruitment specialists The Orion Group. He has been a strong supporter and sponsor of the club and its youth development programme. Mike Crowe, head of LifeScan Scotland, the club's shirt sponsors and a major employer in the city, has accepted an invitation to join the club's board. The new Inverness Sports Trust will be launched with a £200,000 donation from Tulloch. The Trust directors will be Mr Sutherland and Caley Thistle director George Fraser, deputy chairman of Tulloch plc. Mr Sutherland said:"I flagged up when I became chairman just under a year ago that I did not see it as a long-term measure because of my other commitments. I also feel that a club like ours should be open to fresh leadership, probably on a three-year cycle. "Thus I will be stepping down but I have put in place a strategy for the continued success of ICT FC under the leadership of a highly successful businessman in Alan Savage, working closely with the Board and Chief Executive Mike Smith, who has full responsibility for the club's administrative and commercial arms. Graeme Bennett will continue as director of football. "I'm delighted that Alan has accepted an invitation from the Board to take the helm and he knows he can rely on my continued support.I would like to thank my fellow directors for their backing and commitment during my time as chairman." Mr Sutherland added:"I have a wider interest in sport and, having given the club a significant financial legacy, I wish to provide through Inverness Sports Trust a vehicle to assist a range of other sports, including athletics and shinty. "The Tulloch shares in the club will transfer to Inverness Sports Trust when fiscally expedient. Tulloch will give the Sports Trust initial funding of £200,000 to give it recognition and profile. We hope there will eventually be further financial backers." Incoming ICT FC chairman Alan Savage said:"I'm very honoured to be invited to take the chair at a club whose fortunes I have followed since its inception. "David Sutherland is a hard act to follow but I've been assured I can call on him for advice at any time. I look forward to working with the directors and staff to underpin and extend the club's outstanding progress. Our third SPL season beckons, under talented young manager Charlie Christie, and we all need to work diligently in pursuit of ensuring Caley Thistle have the best possible opportunity to survive and prosper in the top flight. "Running a business like Orion, with a £150 million turnover, has given me expertise which I hope can benefit Caley Thistle. Orion has grown worldwide from Inverness over the past 20 years and being club chairman will help me put something back in to the city from which my company has flourished." After the AGM, the directors of the club will thus be Alan Savage (Chairman), Graeme Bennett, Sandy Catto, Mike Crowe, George Fraser and Ken Mackie.

Gotta love SKY SPORTS 'live commentary' on the web go to http://home.skysports.com/livescores/football/ and click on the LIVE COMMENTARY link on the ticker for gems like this ...... 68: I'd love to be able to report a chance or even a move of some significance but it's just not happening here in Cologne. There's plenty of niggly fouls and overhit passes if that's any consolation. David Quinn, bored in America, asks if this a real job. I'd like to think so sir....... 77: Barnetta has just left his foot in on Vashchyuk but he has escaped the caution that would have meant a red. Thanks to Rich Englert, who informs me the Mexican wave is not in actual fact Mexican. Apparently it was conceived in Washington during an american football game. From now on I shall refer to 'Washington waves' only. 81: Alexander Shovkovsky has punched a corner away from under his own bar. Ukraine's keeper is not too keen on catching but he does get quite a distance with a clenched fist. 84: Switzerland left back Ludovic Magnin shall now be referred to as 'Mental Magnin'. Every time he picks up the ball for a throw in veins pop from his neck as he waves his arms frantically and demands extra support. He makes Julian ***** look mild mannered. And to think he's Swiss - home of the clock. 85: The whole crowd are united - in whistling. It's that turgid. Those in yellow and red are united in a peaceful boredom. Ukraine have just put a cross in, an event in itself, but punched clear the chance is lost. 90: FULL TIME: It's all over. If only that was true. It's extra-time here in Cologne. Both teams seem content to have taken the game to an extra thirty minutes nobody wanted. Not one off-side in the whole contest as the defences are that deep. Please lord of football let there be a change in extra-time.

OK - using the link in the first message, my name would be either ..... MACKENZIALDO or MACKENZIANDRO but I think I prefer the names for Web Admin (ADMAO), WebSite Admin (ADMINHO) and Site Admin (ADMALDO PAU) better :001:

The commentary team* at the time said that FIFA could use video evidence to review the incident regardless of the ref. You could also argue that the ref did not see the incident and was merely brandishing yet another yellow in this farcical encounter because if he had actually seen a headbutt the card most certainly would not have been yellow. I guess FIFA will have to wait for the referee's report and also gauge how much outrage there is before they decide whether to act or not. *NOTE: I cant remember if we had the American "ESPN" or UK "SKY" commentators at the time of the incident as our audio coverage was switching back and forth because of 'technical difficulties'. If it was ESPN I will concede that HC may be correct as ESPN have proved to be somewhat inaccurate on specific administrative rules !!!
-
England will reach the semi-final at least .... playing a weakened Portugal side who will be without the two red carded players plus possibly Cristian Ronaldo AND Figo if FIFA review the headbutt incident ... it should make it easier for them. I fancy Brazil and Spain to get through to the other QF and for it to be an England-Brazil S/F where Brazil will shade it (I hope). From the other side of the draw, the winner of Germany-Argentina will be in the Final at the expense of ... Italy. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/bracket.html

Given my position as admin on this site, I would probably fight it out with CaleyD for the title of Wankero or Bastardo .... with the loser getting the title Sumo ..... :015:

Maybe we will but we'd still receive a fee for him as he's under 23. very minute fee if anything as he didnt come from our youth system !!!

Black Bull - became the 'Waterfront' Harbour Inn - ??? Innes Street Bar - I presume you mean the Innes Bar ? - Home of many ICT fans on matchdays Royal Ordinance - became 'Reflections' The Courtyard - ??? The Copper Kettle - ??? In Grant St the bars could have been the Argyll (nearest the Black Bridge) or the Lochiel (nearest the Clach Park). The Argyll was turned into housing years ago but the Lochiel was still around when I left Inverness, although it had been renamed the Bridge or something like that.

Interesting article in the Courier ...... CALEY Thistle's first team squad should be faster and fitter than ever before ahead of the new SPL season. Under the guidance of former player/manager Craig Brewster, Inverness were credited with being one of the fittest sides in Scotland's top flight, but current boss Charlie Christie believes his players' physical fitness can be improved upon even further. On Monday, weights for a specially designed strength and conditioning programme will be delivered to Tulloch Caledonian Stadium with the aim being to enhance the players' pace. The programme is just one of a number of minor adjustments Christie has made to pre-season training this year as he bids to get his squad ready for the challenges of the 2006/07 Premier League campaign. Posts relating to "website freedom of speech" after the previous reply were moved to a new topic called WEBSITE FEEDBACK after I had taken it off topic :010:

Lets just say ... [li]I enjoyed the first 7 years of the site where it was unofficial - good craic and tremendous banter[/li] [li]I enjoyed the first 3 years where it was official - still good craic and banter[/li] [li]I didnt really enjoy the final 2 years where we had to literally watch every post and users got just as pissed off with that as we did.[/li] [li]Moving to this site has been like a re-birth - there is definitely more craic and I have only received ONE negative email since launch. I am enjoying it again !!! [/li] Wasnt saying anything was being insinuated about the old site - although much of it may be valid - but I think I am guilty of taking us off topic so will probably split this topic and continue it elsewhere .... Both myself and CaleyD would be happy to get feedback on the site so that we can hopefully make sure it continues to grow and the craic and banter get back to a level where it was before

We didnt actually delete things all that often on the other site - people thought we deleted a **** of a lot more than we actually did. Where we might have gone overboard was in locking threads but that in my mind was preferable to deleting them. Anyroads, that was the past and we are now in a new era - we WILL still delete/lock/hide things if they are over the top - in our opinion - but I think we have proved since launching that we DO have a wider line that you need to cross before it gets to that stage. I have moved, split or closed topics for various reasons (duplicates, wrong forum etc) but I dont think I have had to delete one yet !!!

Was listening to a Radio show on the way home from work this week and apparently there is a church in America that allows you to become a "born again virgin" no matter how many 'adventures' you have had in your life. I think it was the southern baptist church or something like that ... not totally sure as I was too busy laughing. While a church may promise to restore your spiritual virginity, there are also surgeons who will restore it physically :017: ... try googling "born again virgin" :015: Anyhoo - heres a little help for our 'flock' : http://www.religioustolerance.org/virgpled1.htm and this badge [attachment deleted by admin]

You can say whatever the **** you like - within reason (we do have limits) - and the only person who can get in trouble is you. So if you want to say that 'in your opinion' Livi are cheating tinks, then yes please feel free to do so :003: .... I think you might find that 'allegedly' is another good word to have in your vocabulary. Our terms and conditions make it quite clear that it is the users and not the site who are responsible for comments. As a site, we are only obliged to respond in a timely fashion to review/delete comments that are complained about, obviously libellous or that break our own rules.

There's only been 2 series of THIS IS WONDERLAND ???
-
THIS IS A SPLIT TOPIC - The original post was called BAD NEWS OR IS IT? We split the topic after this post: It might not stand up in a court of law, or an SPL disciplinary meeting, but I know who I believe ........ I do agree with you however that anyone associated with the club making accusatory statements without proof could land the club and themselves in trouble .... :icon_police: Its one of the benefits of going back to being an unofficial site that all users on here - including the Admins - can now speculate freely and make our opinions known, secure in the knowledge that this unofficial site has no ties to the club other than temporarily supplying them with a little bit of webspace until their new site is ready ...... There are things I have wanted to comment over the years that I have been unable to :silent: but now I can really tell it like I see it .... :brave:
-
Doubt it will make it over to the UK as its a Canadian made series, but if it does, THIS IS WONDERLAND is a quirky and funny series set around the Toronto courts. The writers spent months watching real cases in court and came up with this witty program that is fun to watch !!

Well lets all crucify Charlie for telling the truth then :017: Any interview I have heard with Charlie makes him sound articulate and knowlegeable. I havent heard him say anything I regard as controversial although I suppose it is possible that as a relative newcomer to the world of media attention he might say things that could be twisted or spun in a different direction. I am sure that the chairman will make sure he is kept close to Bill McAllister when important press statements need to be made. It also seems that a lot of the comments surrounding the 'approaches' or 'bids' that have or havent been made - depending on who you listen to - are coming from Graeme Bennett and like Charlie, he is another that shoots from the hip and can leave himself open to mis-interpretation. Having said that - I would far rather see GB and CC make honest statements than listen to some of the tripe being dished out by others !
-
I'll be honest too ...... whats he supposed to do ... bend over and take it like a man as CB shafts him ? No feckin chance - our team has been seen as a soft touch by the media for donkey's years when others have come calling for managers and/or players and it has to stop. If someone is doing it the wrong way, then Charlie has to pull them up on it and if they keep doing it then what better way than to make your displeasure public and embarass the ****** !!! From all the stories I have been reading from afar and from comments on here it seems that CB is reasonably pally with CC and GB and that they regularly meet up for a few beers ... thats fine, I have no issue with that and I am sure that as the drink flows many things are discussed, some that are regular stuff and some that are maybe not as prudent. However, I get the impression (and I could be wrong) that certain people within this friendship are trying to use this and other relationships they have built up within the club to circumvent the normal & formal process of putting a bid in for a player. In any other circumstances this is called TAPPING and it is not allowed. As for comments about the 'home' fans and 'away' fans, I havent heard those remarks attributed to Charlie, but at the end of the day we have done that argument to death many times .... the group of fans that go to away games seem to be noisier, have more fun, and are a different breed to many of the home fans. Note that I did not say "better" ... just different. Whether it is the fact that its mostly diehards going to away games and they are more passionate and vociferous, or whether its the drink, or whether its another reason, we all know it to be true.
