  4. They seem to have done a good job with the town house so fingers crossed the removal of scaffolding will show some good work.
  5. Agree with the road and the UHI comments but for me the biggest improvement was opening up the castle viewpoint. When you can get a view like this, its amazing to see how beautiful the locale is. I really hope that with the courts gone they take the opportunity to double-down on the improvements made to the Town House to create an area that is appealing to tourists and locals alike with the Castle, Town House, Museum and perhaps some green space if they ever tear down Upper Bridge St. It would be amazing.

    RIP Eric

I did not know Eric, but ever since TM4TJ brought him and IBM on to help with the stats and other background tasks, it has been great. His input and effort getting us up to date, was immense even though he was unwell. It speaks volumes about someone's character when they offer to do this type of unsung work and are happy to stay in the background and just offer assistance without any fanfare. I am also absolutely blown away that in the midst of his illness, he was still thinking of doing updates from the hospice. My sincere gratitude goes to Eric for all he did, and my condolences go out to his family and friends in their sad loss.

  11. probably not trawling sketchy websites so no dodgy ads
  12. This I agree with... a run of 10 straight wins and the responses would be less on the negative side than you will likely get right now...
  13. Obviously didn't fill in the form as I only attend one or two games every year or maybe every other year on trips across the pond, but I did read through the questions and agree they seem reasonable enough. As someone has said, you could ask only 2 questions, but then you would only get two answers. For this questionnaire, it seems a bit more in depth and may highlight areas of concern that were previously disregarded or thought as not an annoyance for many fans. That will allow the trust to focus on those areas with the club (assuming a dialogue is open and in place). Whether the club listen or not is a different subject and question, but the survey results would hopefully give a substantial set of data to build things on if they do. (that and a few wins of course!)

  17. Thats why its a needle in a haystack ... The site itself does not generate any errors and there are no errors in the logs. We have no control over the ads you get served and they are different for everyone (more or less) depending on your location, interests, browsing habits and such like. The extensions you have installed are another potential source of issues and of course there are multiple browser options people can choose from. All I can check/influence is the data and configuration on the server, and this comes back as normal and up to date in all categories. I could of course turn off the ads... but no income from ads = no site next time we have to renew software, domains, or hosting! It's a balancing act
  18. Now that people have less fears over covid, and travel seems to be returning (somewhat) to normal, I am going to resurrect this thread. I'll post any good deals I see from Inverness or other UK airports. I have been using this site for a few years now and it's a great site to include in any travel searches and to find deals. Sometimes the flights it finds can be a bit less than perfect - online travel companies, long layovers, or circuitous routes - but often there are multiple suppliers including the airlines themselves and these are legitimately good. We have used it a couple of times to find good fares to the UK as well as Toronto to Los Angeles and San Francisco, but our best travel success ever was through this site with an "error fare" trip pre-pandemic for all three of us from New York to Seychelles for under US$1000 when the normal cost of a ticket is around $1500 per person!!! Inverness is also a great airport to use as a search because it is frequently cheaper than flying out of one of the big airports. There are tax breaks for smaller regional airports that mean savings can be significant compared to booking direct from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and certainly Heathrow and Gatwick... even when there is a stopover in that same airport! Anyhoo - here are a couple of deals I noticed last week: https://www.secretflying.com/posts/inverness-scotland-to-san-francisco-usa-for-only-259-roundtrip/ https://www.secretflying.com/posts/inverness-scotland-new-york-usa-209-roundtrip/ A few more here that may (or may not) still work: https://www.secretflying.com/search2/?cityFrom=Inverness&cityTo=&month=

  21. that is always a possibility. The ads are served externally so would not show up as a site error, but badly formed ads can cause problems. Would also explain some of the randomness.
  22. Its alright, with so much apathy around, no-one will read it
  23. It was not his best move, but I don't think one single thing/event started our spiral. It's a combination of factors. There was a deterioration in the relationship with Yogi after that but look at his career and perhaps you might think that was inevitable. He does not stick around too long anywhere. Thats for another discussion. To me, Kenny's biggest mistake was listening to others (including fans) and appointing Richie Foran, who every one of us wanted to succeed, then not being ruthless when it was clear things weren't working. The change came too late, and we got relegated. I know that cut him to the quick as I was there as his guest on the final day of the season, with my son as mascot on the day he resigned. Lots of things happening to the side and in the background throughout those good times and the bad times. For me, the real rot started with the regime that followed. Kenny (and everyone before him) made some poor choices, but always made them with the best interests of the club in mind trying to push us on. He listened to fans and tried to communicate with us. Kenny may have left us relegated but he did leave us in a strong position financially and organisationally (assuming we could bounce back quickly). The next lot were a whole lot more insular and seemed to take the attitude from day one that everyone at the club - staff and volunteers alike - were there for what they could get from the club, not what they could give to the club. Thats a pretty sh***y stance to take when you (have always had to) rely on volunteers, many of whom have served the club for decades in various roles on a matchday. In my humble opinion, perhaps they were looking in the mirror a bit too much. They tore up a load of processes/things that were working, replaced them with more expensive procedures or services that didn't and soon made that strong position a lot weaker. They left behind a mess still being cleaned up now. I personally have no axe to grind with the current custodians of the club. They had an almighty mess to clean up. I believe the chairman does have the best interests at heart but I also know that many people have made comment about making suggestions to the club that were ignored or brushed off and that has a touch of the last regime about it. Thats not good, and neither is the communication level from the club. Given our precarious financial position we do seem to be pretty top heavy in terms of (presumably) high earners in non-footballing roles but I am no longer as close as I once was so dont have an idea of the value each of these positions bring to the table. If we are paying our CEO '£X.xx' and he is bringing in '£X.xx' * 3 in revenue or cost savings, then it's worth it. If however, the value is negative then its not. It should be a simple cost/benefit analysis on any financial aspects. The concert debacle also really hurt us I feel. We may be isolated from financial fallout but the whole thing is so murky that we are absolutely 100% affected by the moral fallout and no-one seems to have sought to address that. This is where we fall down BIG-TIME and a club that doesn't seem to care about its fans will soon find itself devoid of fans... which brings us right back to the word apathy in the title of this thread.
