  1. was in March.. so would have to wait until next month thankfully
  2. Callum Murray :thumb04: It was an easy penalty to call, and I'm sure if it was a borderline decision we probably wouldn't have got it but to be fair to the guy he had to put the whistle to his mouth... and he did so well done that man Funny thing is I've seen numerous games with Murray in charge and he struggled to give us a throw in never mind a contentious decision... must have been evening things out
  3. Had my doubts but delighted to be proved wrong (so far)... I am still not yet buying into the hype but after losing against Motherwell we needed to show some resolve and the team have done exactly that. Our problem has never been getting points against the old firm though but beating the teams round about us, if we can manage to do that and improve our home form then we'll be on to a winner
  4. Obviously delighted with the result and the way things have been turned around by Butcher, also it's refreshing to have a manager who carries himself so well infront of the media. He is a legend in the game so should be able to attract decent players if given the finances. Don't get ahead of yourself though Brew did the same thing at Ibrox after Christie stepped down (Christie who also received my full backing at the time)... I think the board deserve full credit for making an excellent appointment because I couldn't think of anyone who would make such a drastic improvement but I guarentee (quote me if you like) that either January or May 2010 Butcher will have either been headhunted by another club or given the sack because our fans have turned on him Also, as useful as Kerr, Foran and Eric have been I think most people would agree it's Pavel who has steadied the ship and given us a fighting chance, if Brew was given the backing of the fans instead of us turning on him.... who's to know if he could have made things work?? but he wasn't and there was no way back for him after Hamilton and the rest is history
  5. what's wrong with offering a contract that has a relegation release clause? at least that way we would be guarenteed some money if he leaves Players like Pavels are hard to come across, look at McPake for Livi, he is decent but nothing special and ended up being signed by Coventry (I think).... there are next to no decent centre halves in Scotland outside the top six and if we secure a contract for him we could make a pretty penny.. or we could let him go for free and let some other team have the business Morais, Ghatuessi are players that might not be needed Pavels is a necessity if we ever expect to come back into the SPL.. that is IF we are relegated
  6. EXACTLY what we need.. it's been no coincidence that since he has signed we've seen a massive improvement in our defensive record and our points tally. I would go the whole hog and offer 4 years because trust me there will be plenty of clubs sniffing about next season I will be gutted if he isn't signed up for at least 3 years
  7. Any manager that manages to put another star on top of the club badge has proved they are an exceptional football manager and in my eyes he is one of the best managers of our era... unfortunately he has come up against THE football manager in Sir Ferguson
  8. Riordan is a waste of space, the kind of player that us fans hate to watch because he has so much natural ability and the platform to demonstrate it yet he continues to act like a petulant child... IMO he has lost interest in the game Imrie on the other hand plays with raw aggression, you can tell he has a real love for the game and genuinely wants to impress the fans whatever chance he gets. He still has a lot to prove though, it's alright stringing a few good performances together but the key is maintaining that over a season and then improving the season after... I have high hopes for Imrie though
  9. from past experience that usually ends up being the kiss of death.. i'd prefer it stayed with the evil sisters of Glasgow until the last month of the season
  10. Butcher interview put a smile on my face It's great to hear such enthusiasm from a manager... essential win but still a lot of work to do
  11. What if we could combine Richard's composure with Lionel's sheer determination to make a super human left back who could only be known as Lionel Richie??
  12. fair comment but I think Tokely has no real competition for right back
  13. :thumb04: No .... does anyone else feel we are just waiting for Zadi to make a big mistake??
  14. agreed... and I've dealt with a few going back to Alex's point about "buisness acumen" business is a massive generalisation for thousands/millions of different occupations, just because someone is succesful in an area doesn't mean they are generally a good business man. Most of these guys will work in the constraints of a company set up until they manage to work to the top (usually through kissing ass) and only then will they see money changing hands. Clive Woodward won the Rugby world cup and then thought he could easily apply the same methods to football... and look how that turned out. The same might be said about this guy, he may have been an expert in his field but he is clearly dealing with a completely different sport! Hopefully he can add something but I amn't convinced he hasn't just offered some buzz words that have swayed the board
  15. :thumb04: good question
  16. Robbo Have you any thoughts on the current league set up? I am of the opinion we should be looking to create a 16 team league that will offer more diversity to the fixture list. Any thoughts? also a wee sneaky question: What do you think is the most important attribute for someone to become a succesful football player?
  17. Wilkie's goal looks about a yard offside
  18. knee jerk reaction?
  19. are we not in the hunt for a left back
  20. That takes all the fun out of this thread. :thumb04: apologies
  21. definitely couldn't argue with that but think positive man!!!
  22. Having watched Killie in their recent games against Ayr & taking their recent form into account I think we can catch them
  23. .... who is???
  24. Smith would be a great signing IMO, before he got injured he was showing the potential to be a full international and finally a left back to challenge Naysmith's guarenteed place in the scotland starting lineup Paterson, is equally a very capable player... did well at Motherwell but hasn't really done much since he moved away
  25. second striker... somewhere inbetween the forwards & midfield He is too indiciplined to play on the wing as he offers no cover for a left (or right) back... I expect that he was competing with Cowie for the midfield free role but now Cowie is gone he will be given the oppertunity to play off a striker. Foran is quite a similar player from what I remember of him at Motherwell so it will be interesting to see who is favoured and in what position!!
