  1. I hoped for quite a wee while, but it was the 3-0 home win versus our pot-mending neighbours that really made be believe.
  2. Time for this old favourite to float up the board again, I think!
  3. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be more delighted that we'll be promoted; and I want to see us compete at the top level and win against the biggest teams..... but there's a part of me that has really enjoyed being back in the First. Sticking it to the caravan-dwellers is always great, and as belief has grown through the season I've loved expectin rather than hoping to win games. Will anyone else grudgingly miss elements of the gritty old SFL?
  4. Brilliant, brilliant, well done. Just waiting for the blasted ash cloud to move so I can get back home for the Ayr game!
  5. I can't stand either of them, I really can't. The bulk of their supporters (and, in many cases, it's a lot of bulk) seem to be a pretty good representative sample of scum. The clubs themselves have much to answer for in running the league down for their benefit. I dislike their dominance and resent the attention that they take away from the other teams. Having said all of that, I really hope Celtic go on a good cup run!
  6. Ah, the gaudy boast of the noveau riche. You sound, dear boy, like a brassy old slapper whose scratchcard habit has finally paid off. What a shame that money can't buy you a little bit of panache.

Sounds good. Are you volunteering? :) :)
  8. Not with a busted knee, he can't! Perhaps he could hobble back into the team? I hope he gets back soon as he is certainly a handful - though he needs to get time to train with the new-look squad as he kept making runs no-one spotted on Saturday.
  9. I take it you'll be closing the set with "Oh Inverness Is Wonderful"? Maybe with a double A-side encore medley of "In Your Dingwall Slums" / "The County End (Is Always Full)"?! Should keep the fans happy.
  10. Great to see a good away support, spending an entertaining 90 minutes ripping the pish out of poor old Dumfie even before we nipped the win. Sing when we're winning? Not ICT! Excellent, if slightly lubricated, performance from the crowd. It will be interesting to see if it translates at all to TCS as we all adjust (temporarily) to life in the basement Give Burnie a Ceeeeeee!
  11. :018: :thumb04: I'll be there, probably +1.
  12. I thought it was a dreadful game. Of course I'm glad that we won, and 3 points are 3 points after all... but I can't believe that continually pumping the ball back to the opposition without even trying to play in our own players is the best way to guarantee a win - pretty or ugly. We were incredibly lucky on Saturday that Killie are pretty sh!te: if we'd given that amount of almost constant possession to a half decent team, we'd have thrown away our lead and ended up losing. From where I was sitting, the second half on Saturday was ugly and risky - a nasty combination. At least we managed to hold on to the result, but I can't understand why we didn't try to hold on to the ball as well. I certainly wouldn't single out Imrie for criticism - he worked hard to try and get on to the end of every hopeful hoof that actually made it into the Killie half. Having said that, I would rather see him as an attacking midfielder where his pace could be used as an attacking threat without the ball being lumped 60 yards. I'd have rather seen us use the width of the pitch to spread the play, make it harder for Killie to close us down and so actually pass to each other. We didn't do that, and we were clearly working to a plan - but just because a rubbish plan happens to pay off doesn't make it a good plan. I'm delighted that Terry and Mo have put the belief and spine back into the team... now please let's take the next step and avoid any more miserable, heart-stopping, infuriating afternoons at the TCS.
  13. Well played boys! A great start for Terry and Maurice getting the team fired up for what sounded like a real scrap. That's an excellent point to get, and I'm sure the players will take a lot of confidence out of it.
  14. All the very best to the new team - the fans will be behind you and there's a great spirit lurking in the dressing room -unlock it and we'll be looking at the top 6, never mind survival.
  15. I do like Robbo's passion, but don't seem to remember a lot of nice flowing football when he was in charge. Do we want to go back to hoofing it up the park?
  16. One of my favourites, from the old skool, is less a song than a chant. When the whistler blows up in favour of our opponents, we cry The Ref-er-ee's from Dingwall The Ref-er-ee's from Dingwall Always raises a chuckle.
  17. Aside from a few extra pinties at away games, one big difference that contributes to the atmosphere is that we tend not to have rigourously-enforced numbered seating when we're on the road (cos you're not stuck in season ticket seats and also I suppose because the stadia are often bigger) so those who like to bellow out the odd song (or the very odd song) can cluster together much more easily than at TCS. So the willing singers / instigators generate a bit of noise and atmos together, which inspires the will-sing-but-don't-like-to-start-it to join in, and before you know it you're having a right old laugh and out-singing the home support. Carefree, wherever we may be, Unless that's the Longman Yes we're ICT....
  18. It would be great if the club could do something to take a lead and encourage the fans to generate a bit of atmosphere; but while we wait for that to happen, let's just get shouting, singing, chanting and bantering. The G Section are a good example of doing that and enjoying themselves, but let's not leave it to them. I think there have been more posters on this thread complaining about the lack of singing than there are ever people actually opening their mouths and roaring out at the TCS. Maybe Ca-ley is a little bit uninspired, but at least it's a start. Let's get some noise going, then we can ascend the dizzy heights of the Bridge And A Castle. So come on, don't be shy.... Give Me A C!
  19. I've just Googled him, and it looks like you're right, WynessLegend. But then, I suppose "Imrie" is a relatively unusual surname, so that would keep the numbers down. Irrespective of the absolute quantity of Dougie Imries, I would like to wish this one great success at Caley Thistle.
  20. The future of ICT is secured! I'm sure Denzil will work tirelessly to pass the Wyness Shuffle on to a new generation. Congratulations, Wynesses!
  21. Not that slow and steady, Scotty! There are a lot of teams who've been around a lot longer and have never soared at the giddy heights that we've achieved! But I do take the point that ICT did it on merit and not just on deep pockets - though you'd have to concede that the willingness of the City and certain Chairmen and their building companies to support the club financially have been a big factor in our success, even though their funding has not generally gone on big playing contracts (until this season).
  22. I agree, theresnoeinblack. The things being said about Gretna are not so different to the pish spouted about ICT by fans of the "established" clubs who for some reason believe that football should only be played among the dark satanic mills of the central belt. I welcome Gretna and their fans to the SPL, what they have achieved so far in their short history is pretty impressive. The challenge for Gretna is to do as ICT did by backing up the "fairytale" with spirit and heart to confound the critics and fight to stay in the league. If they're not good enough, they're not good enough - but that has to be down to what happens on the pitch and not where they are from or who pays their wages. In the meantime, I'm particularly glad to have such a dreadful side in the SPL to prop up the league and give us some breathing space after our worst-ever start!
